When I finally arrived, I was greeted by Pat. She showed me where I would be stationed with my teardrop trailer. The campground is right on the HWY 60 so you will get a lot of traffic noise and train traffic. Because I arrived late (2pm) instead of 10 am a few openings were all towards the back of the campground. I thought it would be a bad thing but it helped a bit with the noise, although the noise didn't bother me much anyway. Each camping spot had a spigot. I was in an area that was part gravel and dirt. The Historic Hotel has great history! What I found fascinating was the hotel was moved from its original spot to across the street, I believe in the 1940's. There are a few rooms upstairs and believe it or not the bar salon was originally upstairs. The wood upstairs is mostly all original and some windows as well.

The property has small rocks throughout property but they did not allow a wood fire :( it was soooo cold! But we understand. There is a small gold course at the entrance of the park. It was fun playing it at night. The owner added lights specifically for the golf course and a little fountain. The attention to detail was there. There is a small dog park that is gated but meant for big dogs. Small dogs will walk right through the posts. We stayed here for a night and when we went to turn on our diesel bus, it wouldn't turn on. We eventually found out our gas filter froze overnight due to the elevation probably because we've stayed in colder places. So if you're staying here bring extra fuel help. We had added additive to help it from gelling but wasn't enough. Make sure to bring 911 something to help start it. We're definitely buy it. Owner very helpful and answered even tho New Year's Day.

NIGHTMARE. Rented for four months through the summer. These people are beyond wicked. You would think a retirement place mostly vacant would be peaceful. WRONG. NOISY and NOSY AF. Security gate was whacked. Would not give me my pass for the entire stay made me come back over and over to extend my Pass for a few weeks at a time when I paid the four months rent in advance. All the old men are pervs. The old ladies are mean and hateful. Golf carts beeping and creeping all day past your unit spying. My Video camera out back caught at least 3 people creeping on my back door. Next door (Carrie and Bob) started intentionally banging and dragging furniture every morning at 5:45am until 6:30am spitefully to wake you up. Reporting it did nothing as they did not call me back until a few weeks later after I handled it by posting a sign out back telling them they were on video. Then it stopped immediately but they were caught on cam. However, they trespassed non stop and crumpled up my note to them throwing on the step all mad because they were being told to honor QUIET TIME 10pm to 7am. All these people here are FEEBLE and MEAN except some of the old men who are actually just dirty old men....One even tried to come in to 'change my ac filter' when it could have been done prior to check in. HE WAS TOLD NO. Caught one of the old coots at the pool videotaping me on camera phone while he obviously wore ear buds and kept his phone on a float to do so. I got out and video taped him also and he took off running. Last night of my stay some crazy old lady tried to break into the unit and throw me out saying she was there to clean....8pm at night screaming at the bottom of the stairs when my check out was next day. She was drunk and smoking like a lunatic for sure off her meds. Then the Property manager accused me of damage when I had already photographed the home and video taped it for VRBO because when I told the old lady hag to get off my steps or I was calling the police, I knew she would try to fraud me. Well VRBO got involved and I got a refund for one night and my cleaning fee because I cleaned the house myself. The security golf carts follow you everywhere you go even if you go to the POST OFFICE you will see a line of carts following you around. IT IS BIZARRE. They hate renters and you will be PREY. The place is a dump full of aluminum death traps that any big storm would demolish and the shards of glass and aluminum would slice you into pieces. This slow income housing for those that failed at life and have no other place to go. Stay away because you will have NO PRIVACY and be creeped on non stop. I've stayed in Vanderpool, Bluebird, Verner, and Fiesta. They've always had clean, warm beds and clean bathrooms. We have most of our it leadership activities in Tabernacle and A-Frame. We also use the Leisure House and the amphitheater. A few years ago we started using Tab East and Tab West. My primary job is AV. They upgraded their sound system in both Tabernacle and A-frame from last year and it is pretty awesome! They also had one wireless hand held mic and a lavelier mic for me to use. I brought in 6 of our own wireless hand held mics to plug into their system. Their video projector and mixer boards in Tabernacle, Tab West, Tab East and A-frame were wonderful. It's so nice when the tech works!! As always, confidence course (high ropes) are always a big hit for our campers! Challenge course (low ropes) is also a camper favorite. We also do bonfire on our last night of camp and the only down side to that is the 930pm sound ordinance. So over the years we have converted to playing acoustic music. I would give this camp 5 stars, but this past year, the new owners of the camp actually yelled at our RYLA chair in front of everyone, including the campers (who are high school students and are impressionable). It was bad taste, rude, and unnecessary. Also, they stopped providing dietary options for those who are gluten free. They only offer vegetarian as an alternative option. So we had adult volunteers who used their own money to make gluten-free and vegetarian options for our campers.
