The company I work for I am given two options, a PPO plan and a HMO plan which is of course HPN. At…read morethe time I literally thought I was with the PPO plan, but later found out I was with the HMO / HPN. Needless to say, I am far than less impressed with this insurance. I saw some positive and mostly negative reviews due to the insurance itself. This plan is such a bad joke it isn't even funny. When I began with this plan I was put up against a wall with them telling me what Doctors I can and cannot see or always asking permission to see someone. They would tell me they set me up with a good General Doctor, but I can tell anyone this, research your own online with good reviews they do not do this. They tried to put me with a Doctor who had legit 1 star reviews and over 500 reviews on a bad Doctor. On top of that I was denied several times to see specialists due to my rare condition and my primary Doctor kept putting in orders to be seen by a specialist, but this insurance wants to play they are Doctors game and insist I see my primary for further care when my primary is the one sending off the referrals. Getting my medications approved by this insurance was a complete utter joke. They kept denying most my meds and stating that they weren't covered. The meds I take were strictly needed per my primary and specialists I have seen. I would never recommend this company or insurance to anyone. Some may have better luck than me, but I would never want them ever again.

They don't have the decency to call you and tell you that there will be a hour wait to go see the doctor like I don't have anything better to do with my time. In addition their physician assistance Jalieb,C is incompetent they sent me to two different locations and neither one of the facilities they sent me to don't have my information. Damn shame real tired of it doesn't make any sense you pay for money and you can't even get good health care this is ridiculous. Never in my life experience the type of insurance care that I received in Nevada this is just ridiculous.

I recently started working for a company that provides this medical insurance, only to find that…read morenearly NONE of the providers I have been seeing for many years under my previous employers plan thru Blue Cross are in-network with Sierra Health. Even worse, there are NO in-network providers for most of the specialists that I see, so I don't even have any options to switch to an in-network provider. One would think that being owned by United Healthcare that there would be an abundant number of providers available, but that just is not the case. In other words, this insurance is pretty much useless. And how on Earth can Renown in Reno (and now Carson-Tahoe in Carson City) be out of network? It's simple - claims often get denied or delayed for no reason. There is a chiropractor who comes to our town 2-3 times a month and appears on the in-network providers list, but he does not accept this insurance because none of the claims he submitted were paid. This is a growing trend with insurance companies, and I have experienced this first-hand with another insurance provider, where my out of network claims would be approved until I met my deductible, and then suddenly when the insurance company had to pay a portion of the services provided they were denied. Each claim had to be re-submitted multiple times until they were paid. I have not experienced this with Sierra Health yet, as I am trying to use in-network providers, but with many of the major medical groups and hospitals dropping any plans that are under the parent company6 of United Healthcare over the last few years, and that the DOJ is investigating them for alleged Medicare fraud, you have to wonder just how much longer with their existing providers accept this insurance.
