Let me preface by stating that I hate leaving bad reviews. I work in a small business myself and I know how stressful bad reviews can be. It even took me several months of reflection and contemplation before I decided to move forward with this review. That said, this review isn't a rash or heated decision, but a level headed and cautionary tale that can hopefully educate both the staff and future clients. My hope is that no other current or future client ends up in my shoes. Upfront customer service on the phone was great. Service was all around great between both my visits too. They were friendly, accommodating and helped me navigate through all my questions as I needed help securing my own health insurance. They even followed up to make sure I was taken care of. Up to that point, I would have rated them an easy 5/5 stars. Unfortunately, where the issue lies is an administrative/clerical error on their end. There was a failure to ensure that there were no gaps in my insurance OR (even at the very least) notify me that I would have a large gap in my insurance coverage so I can prepare accordingly during the worst case scenarios. After an unfortunate trip to the ER, a very shockingly high hospital bill and many calls to the insurance company and their office later, I learned that I had absolutely no health insurance when I went to the ER. There turned out to be a 4+ week gap of coverage and I unluckily needed medical attention during the gap - worst case scenario achieved! Their mistake cost me both emotional and financial (in the 4 digits) stress that I will be paying for years to come and will haunt me for quite some time. After letting their office know what happened, they let me know there was 'nothing that can be done for me' and now I'm left with a not-so-awesome, uninsured medical bill. read more

I am self employed so trying to find the right coverage alone was a disaster. I moved from out of state and was unfortunately in touch with another broker who was just putting me on a plan to make a check. That is not what Jenny did, she sat down with me looked at all the plans available and helped me pick the best plan for me. She then went above and beyond in helping me cancel with my old insurance company, while also finding a way for me to save money with my new plan. She will work with you and help you find a way to get the very best plan that will work for you and your budget. Go see her and get her to do the same for you. You will not regret it. This company has really been such a lifesavor for me on multiple occasions. First when I had to cancel my current insurance to reapply for Obamacare. This I did in the office with the agent Linda who was very helpful with cancelling my insurance policy and helping me weed through my options, she even completed the application for me. Next when everyone had to re-apply for health Insurance with the new marketplace, I called literally last-minute, and Corrine made an exception to help me even though their office was swamped trying to get everyone's apps in by the deadline. I was able to complete this process on time through multiple phone calls and emails with her. Next I called Nevada Benefits when I became unemployed and thought I may be able to qualify for a lower monthly payment. I left a message with the receptionist and Brent called me right back. He went in and entered all of my new information just over the phone with me, and he got my monthly payments cut almost in half! Finally, my current insurance company is going out of business so they called me to come in and go over my options. I met with Brent and he did just that, and let me take the info home to think it over. I emailed him back and now he is setting up my new plan! I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Nevada Benefits in situations that could be a total headache, what a great company. read more

I was with Nevada Benefits for 5 years and never though they would be so negligent and irresponsable to lie and ensure they did something that they never did. Unfortunately, my experience has not been as good as the others. The first person that we saw wasn't much on correct information or follow through, so we changed to another representative, Jenny Mursch. She was great until this year. We came in at the beginning of the enrollment period and she went through the plans and saved us more money. We signed the paperwork, of which we have copies of. Needless to say, we were thrilled! Unfortunately, she apparently didn't put through the plan change. Long story short, we have been calling HPN and the Market Place to straighten this out. They now say that they can't change it unless it's a "life event". We have to open a case as the broker didn't do their job and hope to straighten this out. This is resulting in $90 a month more for us, as well as a big headache! My ex who pays for my health insurance, has called several times to speak to an office manager. Calls go unanswered and or we get nothing but the run around!! Obviously, Jenny didn't do what she was supposed to do and wasn't professional enough to just own up to it! Take my advice, just go directly to The Marketplace and pick your plan. It's usually better to speak to a live person, but not in a this case! I can't recommend this business. read more

We needed to acquire health insurance on our own (as in, not through an employer). It's crazy trying to wade through all of the choices that are available. Trish C at Nevada Benefits knows all of the companies, their different plans and types of coverage - takes time to listen to your individual situation and then helps you choose which type of coverage and plan is right for you. I first met Trish in August 2013 when our COBRA medical coverage was ending from Tim's previous job. She was super nice and patient, explained everything very clearly and really helped us sort out our options. We decided that a short-term "catastrophic" type of policy would cover us for six months until either our job situation changed or until the new government insurance plans kicked in. The six month policy, instead of a long-term policy with all of its hoops to jump through, saved us thousands of dollars in premiums and a ton of time in medical questionnaires and the qualification process. The best thing is, we didn't use the insurance the whole six months. We were covered if something major happened and were prepared to cover the expenses if it was something minor - but nothing medical ever happened - nothing at all ! It was a roll of the dice that we wouldn't encounter minor medical issues or a broken bone or something in these six months but it worked out really well. Now more recently, with Tim still being an independent contract employee and not being under the umbrella of a company that provides health insurance, Trish has again helped sort out the differences between companies and plans (and different levels of coverage in the different plans!) I had a ton of random and specific questions and she always responded quickly to emails and phone calls - would email me different breakdowns in plans, along with the prices -listened to me talk about the differences and steered me in the direction that was right for us based on what level of risk we felt comfortable in taking. She treated me so nicely and was even more patient than the first time - is professional and yet would joke around with me at the same time. Now we have a health insurance plan that will work out for us until a change in job situation - it's good for peace of mind for sure. The plan we chose is definitely way more expensive than the short-term plan (and some of the long-term plans !) but it looks to be something that will cover us and protect us not just for emergencies or major major things, but for minor and even preventive care/screenings as well. Without insurance coverage provided by a job, the cost is all ours. It would be really tempting to try to live with more minimal health insurance - but with no crystal ball to know what will happen in the future, there's no way we can do this. It's a real maze if you've always had coverage from work and then suddenly you choose to go out on your own. USE THIS COMPANY ! Trish and the rest of the Nevada Benefits staff are very friendly, easy to talk with, very experienced and confident and really enjoy what they do. . . and it really comes across in the way they interact.
