I was traveling and found myself in need a root canal. Couldn't be more happy that they fit me into their schedule. So kind and efficient. Plus they do root canals the right way here where they do it in two parts allowing your tooth time to settle, let inflammation go down before sealing the tooth back up. I had a great experience with this group. They were able to get me in quickly and on the date and time I was available. The front desk staff was so professional and pleasant. The back office staff was so accommodating to my comfort and overall experience. My provider had such a calming and caring way about him. I was very impressed with the time he took to be sure I didn't experience any discomfort. It was amazing to me how without any topical anesthetic I wasn't able to feel the numbing needle at all. I went to my appointment today, and Dr. Williams, DDS wouldn't finish the root canal that was scheduled to be finished. He said my fillings needed to be completed firsts. I talked to office of Riverside Dental Care. They said needing filling have nothing to do with getting the root canal finished. I don't recommend Deseret Endodontics. read more

I am a general dentist that has been practicing for 14 years. I have sent dozens if not hundreds of patients there over the years, and all of the dentists in St. George know that you are in excellent hands in the care of Desert Endodontics. The doctors are exceptional and quick with their procedures, and I have had Dr. Williams perform a root canal retreatment on myself, and Dr. Bethers treated my mother's tooth. Root canals are probably the most difficult and tedious procedure in dentistry, and they have to be performed nearly perfectly for a successful outcome. They are usually needed when a tooth has become infected, which often produces pain both before and after the procedure while healing occurs. The pain associated with healing is the result of the human body fighting the infection, not mistreatment by the doctors. Complications at the specialist's office are extremely rare. The anatomy of a tooth or level of infection can make the treatment more difficult or unpredictable, and nothing in medicine is 100% successful on 100% of the population, but I trust the doctors at Desert Endodontics 100% with the care of my patients, my family, and myself. read more

Wait, what?! I can't give more than 5 stars? Being a veteran of 13 (yes, thirteen) root canals, I can't believe I just had one. Best experience ever- and who says THAT after a root canal? Totally worth the drive from Huntington Beach ~ Dr Bethers did an amazing job; from local anesthesia that targeted just the right area, to re-treating a 20 year old failed root canal, then explained (drawing on a post it note) the aspects of treatment (and reasons for them) that might be necessary in future. So very glad to have been referred here (by my equally awesome dentist(s) Dr Chase & Jeff Williams of Cedar City. This was my first root canal and I had to do it while we were traveling. I was given the name of Desert Endodontics who accepted me on the date we would be near St. George. The endodontist did an excellent job and was very professional. The office called me the day after the procedure to check on me. I also spoke with the lady at the desk a couple of times before I arrived and she talked me through what I needed to do to manage the pain. She was awesome. I would highly recommend. read more

The only con they DON"T take any dental insurance and you have to pay out of pocket and Insurance will reimburse you directly . Absolutely the worse. The ONLY thing they care about is charging you the most money humanly possible. Period. They treat you like garbage, they keep you waiting, and they're incredibly unprofessional. My adult son was referred to Desert Endodontics after an infection was diagnosed at a regular dentist appointment. He wasn't in a terrible amount of pain, but wanted to be pro active so scheduled the work to be done. He was told by DE that he needed a retreat on root canal that had been done a few years prior (that dentist is no longer in practice). When he asked if they could negotiate price, as he's unemployed and trying to get his life back on track, they basically ignored him and said "goodbye". After the retreat they told him he would need additional work done to put a permanent filling where they put a temporary filling and that would need to be done in about 7 weeks after the area healed. About a month into that wait, he ended up in so much pain he couldn't sleep. He called them at 7 am and left a message telling them something was wrong. They told him they could fit him in so to come in that day. After the examination they advised him the tooth next to the one they did the retreat on needed a full root canal. So now, they tooth they did the retreat on that wasn't bothering him that much, but which he had to pay over $1000 for the work to be done, was now not the issue, but the tooth next to it, which would cost another $1000? He tried again to get them to negotiate price and they ignored him and said, "goodbye". When he asked if they could give him something for pain since there was an open and obvious abscess, they said no, we don't do that. The prescribed antibiotics and prednisone. Fast forward a few more weeks, and on the very day he was supposed to go in to have the permanent filling on the root canal retreat, the temporary filling started to leak. When he called them he was told it would cost him another $185 to fix that. At our wits end, not knowing where to turn, since the staff were rude and obnoxious to him, and were obviously not qualified to actually diagnose the real problems, and had no sympathy at all for the pain their patient was in, we finally took him to the free clinic, where they were sympathetic and got him in to take care of the problem, which resulted in a tooth being extracted, and then a replacement of the bridge which they took off to extract the tooth that was badly abscessed. I wasn't going to write this review, but after reading other similar reviews about how unprofessional this office is, and what little sympathy they have for patients, I wanted others to know to avoid this office. read more

Dr. Bethers was very unsympathetic to my pain. His injections prior to my root canal were given without any topical numbing of the gums prior to administration. This was very painful,m. On a good note, I was impressed that each time he needed an instrument from his dental assistant he added "please" to the request. This did a lot to help me overlook his poor chairside approach to me as a patient. Also, I was told that they would bill my dental insurance on my behalf, but I had to pay the entire amount of the services at this time of service. I was not prepared for this. Then, the payment from my insurance would come to me. This is opposite of normal operating procedure where the insurance company pays the provider and the patient is just responsible for the difference between the billed amount and the insurance payment. I would not go back to this dentist even though it is obvious he is good at what he does and competent. There are other components to providing excellent care. read more

Dr. Williams did a root canal for me about 6 months ago. Unfortunately, he did not clean out all the decay and the pain returned. i knew something was wrong, but the office just kept treating me like I was being too sensitive. Finally, Dr. Williams decided to see me and i was right! He apologized for the improper work, finished the root canal, and billed me $800. What makes it worse is the same tooth might have to be pulled now! His secretary is the most rude and unprofessional person i have ever come across. I like Dr. Bethers who works in the same office, but i will never go to Dr. Williams again! read more

Fantastic experience. Went to have a tooth looked at; he didn't lie to me and tell me it needed a root canal. In fact, told me not to believe it if anyone else told me that was the solution to what turned out to be a periodontal issue.The endodontist saw me twice to make sure we didn't jump to conclusions. My brother is a student in St. George and had a root canal done here. After the procedure, my mom called to ask how the procedure went. The office MANAGER said all went well and stated the dentist had to place a filler in his tooth until the crown could be placed, at the cost of $120. When my mom asked if that was part of the initial amount ($885) she had already approved she was told no, the $120 was an ADDITONAL charge. My mom then stated that she was not contacted by anyone in the dental office to get her approval for the additional $120 charge and questioned how could they charge her card without her prior approval. The office manager simply stated that they "were swamped with emergencies and appointments so I didn't have time to call." My mom questioned what would they have done if she didn't have available funds on her card and the manager replied, "then we would have had to call you to get another form of payment." I'm pretty sure it is not all quite LEGAL to charge someone's credit card without prior approval from the cardholder, especially when the reasoning is your lack of time management. Another thing to be noted is they do not accept dental insurance. The customer has to pay in full and the dental office submits the claim to the insurance company. My mom was told by the office manager that after the dental office submits the claim to the insurance, the insurance company will send any reimbursement to her (customer). This information was also incorrect. My mom contacted her dental insurance (Delta Dental) and they informed her that the reimbursement is sent back to the provider (dentist office). My mom has now paid the dentist in full and the dentist has been reimbursed from the insurance company, therefore the dentist has been paid TWICE. Now my mom has to wait for the Desert Endodontics to reimburse her. If you are considering doing any work here then make sure there is money available on your cards or in your accounts because who knows how "swamped" they will be that day. We are currently seeking to file a complaint with the Division of Occupational & Professional Licensing or the BBB. My mom had available funds but had she used a debit card instead of her FSA card, the unauthorized charge could have caused accounts to be out of balance and possible overdraft situations. Bottom line, no business should be able to charge a cardholders account without their prior approval. Any business (not just this one) that consents to charging their patient/customer's card/accounts without permission should quickly reconsider their practices to avoid legal intervention. This review is not based on the care my brother received but on the lack of professionalism by the office manager and the failure to get prior approval for additional charges to my mom's, or any potential customer's, card before they take it upon themselves to charge unauthorized services to a customer. I was a employee for this business for about 4 months and I have to say it was one of the worst experiences I have had. I felt so belittled every single day by one of the dentists to the point I wouldn't even dare talk during procedures because I could tell he could not stand me. I went into the bathroom atleast 5 times during the 4 month time period and cried because I was so embarrassed and hurt by the way he treated me. He ignored me daily, never told me I was doing good, and everything that went wrong was always somewhat my fault. I dreaded going to work but needed to keep my job to help support my son and husband while my husbands work wasn't able to provide for us. I left work on a Thursday and then that next day I got a call from his finance manager.. It was About 2 weeks before Christmas he had his finance manager call me and tell me that they let me go. He didn't even have the guts to call me into his office and have a adult conversation and to let me know what I did wrong and that he was firing me! Still to this day I have NO idea besides the fact that I'm a mom and through the dental field I have heard he doesn't like to hire women with young children because their family comes first, so I'm taking that was why he decided to let me go because I had to leave early due to my child throwing up at the sitters. I will never step foot in that building again because of how I was treated, I will take my business elsewhere and so will all my family+friends. read more

On my first visit everything was good. Went in filled out the paper work, gave my insurance info. When I got into the chair the billing lady Windy came and said that it would be $450. For today and that they would bill the insurance for the rest. And on the next visit there would be no additional charges. I was expecting that amount so when I was finished I paid that amount and made the appt. for the completion of the root canal. 2 months later I went back in, again when I was in the chair Windy came in and said there would be another $120. for additional charges. I said that last time she said that I wouldn't owe anything on this visit. She said sometimes things come up. When I was done and went out to the desk I gave her my credit card for the additional $120. mystery charges. She then said that it was denied. I know how much I had on that card. I asked her it was $120 right she then said no the balance is $642. I was in shock I said why are you charging me that amount when you said that is was $120. Then she said your insurance said that you canceled the policy in Jan. Now I was very upset. So Wendy why didn't you call and let me know about the insurance so we could get it straightened out? Well we don't do that. What! You charge peoples cards for whatever amount you want without their permission and don't call and tell them there is a problem with their insurance. She like ignored me and said so how are you going to pay this today. Furiously I told her that I had insurance and would not be paying anything until the insurance was billed. Then she said how about we pay the $120. today. I was so upset by this time I was afraid I would say something I regretted and just paid the $120 and left. Never has anything ever in my 60 years happen like this. Beware of Desert Endodontic in St George Utah River Road Daniel Bethers and Clay Williams the financial manager Wendy is a peach. Why would 2 Dr. agree to treat people like this? I won't go back or refer them to anyone ever. read more
