I was looking forward to booking with NVP but I've ultimately decided against it. I've been very…read morenervous to see a psychiatrist because of fears of judgement and not being understood. I've been struggling with debilitating mental health issues for a year now and was ready to take control of my life. After I called the office the woman who answered me was very dismissive and patronizing towards me. I generally understand how my health insurance plan works but I still wanted to verify the details. Every time I've gone to a doctor's office I was told the amount I'd have to pay upfront before I schedule and am able to see the doctor. The woman told me they don't do that (verifying insurance details) and to call back when I figure it out and was quite eager to get me off the phone, treating me as if I had asked her something completely absurd, irrational, and uncommon. I was only referring to the amount I needed to get in the door, I can handle any bills sent to my address at a later time, I just needed to budget everything so I could seek treatment. I understand that doctors and other medical staff deal with a lot of patient abuse and harassment and I'm empathetic to the fact that it's not an easy trade to be in, hence why I haven't and still never disrespect, argue with, or harass healthcare workers, but regardless--when dealing with mentally ill individuals in a health care setting there has to be a level of empathy when communicating and treating them, especially because a good portion of patients seeking psychiatric treatment have a history of being bullied, abused, neglected, and/or experienced psychological abuse at one point in their lives--if not their entire lives. Her snarky tone towards me as well as her eluding to me being unreasonable and unintelligent by asking about insurance details and upfront payment felt like a 3 minute humiliation ritual.

She has, in just a few session reply helped me understand what really is upsetting me and most of the time it wasn't even my husband!! we enjoy her honesty, never chooses sides and allows us really insightful loving ways to manage the outside world. All the while protected our relationship from anything that hurts our goals together. We will probably never stop therapy and see it as important as any other healthcare.

I have always thought it was so odd at massage and spa places that you can't gift one of your paid monthly services so this is truly a perk! People have to work and are busy, I didn't have time to fill out over 40 pages of mostly ridiculous questions 48 hours prior! I was going to fill them out the night before the appointment and bring them, as I have done for years with every other Doctor, Dentist or any other medical professional! They never even offered to reschedule my appointment, as any professional and caring healthcare provider would have! I should have known when they were very difficult to reach initially and when I did finally reach someone, they seemed VERY unprofessional! This Clinic is certainly not for me and VERY UNCARING! It was difficult to even reach someone in the first place to make an appointment and I have waited quite some time! Very Sad to think they are in the business of caring for people!
