Yelp Review: Stockton Hill Tires…read more Our Volvo was driving like a bucking bronco, so after getting a referral we scheduled an alignment at Stockton Hill Tires on January 6th. After the alignment, they told us the tires needed balancing as well, so we agreed to that. They took the car on three test drives and assured us each time that it was running "smooth" and everything "looked good." We were told maybe we had "bad" tires or possibly a problem with the transmission and sent on our way. Saying the Volvo was driving "smooth" couldn't have been further from the truth. The moment we got in the car, it was vibrating and bouncing just as badly as before. It genuinely felt like they wanted us out the door rather than taking the time to diagnose the real issue. When we got home, a simple Google search pointed to bad CV joints and control arms. We took the car to Tire Works in Bullhead City, and they confirmed exactly that. It's hard to believe Stockton Hill Tires didn't catch something so obvious. Tire Works replaced the parts, and now our Volvo drives perfectly. The staff at Stockton Hill Tires were friendly, but friendliness doesn't fix a car. Whether they didn't know what they were doing or just didn't want to deal with it, the result was the same. Based on our experience, I can't recommend them. Tire Works in Bullhead City, on the other hand, got the job done right.

It was 105 degrees outside on September 2, 2015. We were towing a 5th wheel trailer behind us on…read moreI-40 and stopped to purchase fuel at a truck stop near the exit ramp. A good Samaritan followed us off the interstate just to inform us that the left rear wheel of our trailer was wobbling on the highway. That was very kind of him. That explained the shimmy in the steering wheel, which had just started a few miles back. So we called every RV repair place in Kingman to see if a mechanic could look at it the same afternoon. Nope. They suggested going to a tire shop. So we drove to All American Tire, which is located next to the Shell gas station and I believe it is owned by the same people. They were installing tires on another trailer or RV and asked us to pull our rig into the Shell station area. My husband believes it was the owner who removed our trailer wheel and determined it was a loose wheel bearing. The bearings looked okay, it just needed tightening. He had us back on the road within 30 minutes or less. Amazing! And it was so inexpensive that my husband gave him a huge tip. This saved us an incredible amount of possible inconvenience if we had broken down on the highway. We received good, prompt service at a great price. We did not buy tires, so I cannot rate that. Only mechanical work and friendly, caring customer service.

The good then the bad:…read more The mechanic saw when I was getting gas that my rear tire was worn out in an odd pattern and needed to be replaced. It turned out 2 of them were so I was glad he spotted it as i had no idea. They did work fast and got me going again within an hour. The bad: basically everyone's nightmare of getting soaked by a mechanic came true but didn't have a choice. The tires he sold me were extra expensive but said that's all they had that would fit. I was also told my shocks were worn and needed to be replaced. He checked though and didn't have those to sell me. He also said I really should get all 4 tires and not just 2 I needed so they'd match and I'd start fresh. Fair enough all sounded reasonable. When I got back to Phoenix I went to a mechanic who was dry reputable. He basically let me know that: 1. 2 tires would have been fine 2. The tires he put on it are super heavy duty and cost way more than normal tires which he most likely had 3. I didn't need shocks whatsoever. So, basically they are what you expect from a small garage - hustlers and thieves and I'd never go back.
