What an amazing experience. I lost my job about a year ago and grudgingly went on medicaid simply…read moreto avoid having to pay the ridiculous fine for Obamacare since I have never been sick a day in my life. Low and behold, I started experiencing some pain in one of my wisdom teeth whenever I drank cold water. After a month of it getting a little better and then a little worse, I looked into if I was covered with Iowa medicaid and I was. Unfortunately, I am currently trying to find work and need to travel outside the state for the work that I do and had an opportunity where I need to leave next week and everyone I called couldn't get me in for at least a month. Primary Health Care's Dental office takes same day appointments (I believe for medicaid that's the only way they operate) and I was able to call in last Friday and they got me in right away. From the people on the phone, to the receptionists in the lobby, to the person processing my medicaid paperwork, to the dental assistant and finally the dentist (I had Dr. May), everyone was incredibly kind, patient, helpful, and astonishingly efficient. Dr. May explained my situation (I had an abscess) and she came up with a plan where I only needed to have 1 tooth extracted. If that didn't resolve the issue she was going to extract the tooth next to it, but the pain is for the most part gone. They were also able to get me in a couple days later to fill a cavity that she also found. So now I can go find work in the next couple months and won't have to worry about my teeth. Even when I get off Medicaid, I will use them for future dental work as long as I stay in the Des Moines area. Other positives: Immaculate waiting room/clinic--very professional! Plenty of parking. Not the best part of town, but the clinic is safe. Even if you don't have medicaid, they have a sliding scale so you can get reasonable rates. I can't say it enough--the staff are awesome!

I should've listened to my brother when he said any place that is open on Christmas eve will not have their "A game" doctors there! Before I continue, I must tell you I'm not exactly a baby when it comes to pain. I've had kidney stones, and a nail through the foot that were less painful! Maybe I just pissed this doctor off when we were in high school or something, but the Anastasia was excruciating. If that were not enough, the stitches were put in to tight. I had to pull them out myself the next day. Three months later I went to get "checked" to make sure the roadblock was up, and the swimmers were stopped. I was told I would have results within 24 to 48 hours. Next week, and three phone calls later I finally got an answer from a nurse. The only two reasons I gave this place a one star rating was one, because that's the lowest you can give. The second reason is because the results came back in my favor. I'm not trying to scare men off from this procedure. It's a lot safer, and less intrusive than if a woman has to go through a similar procedure. I'm just telling you to be careful who you pick!
