If you love Indian food I would recommend it. Grilled food…read moreis mouth watering here. Having a lust for Biryani, I have tried it in most restaurants in Edinburgh, but when I tried this restaurant I was very satisfied. Grilled chicken is delicious in this place and the best is BYOB. I am a regular customer to this restaurant and still love it.

I have only collected take away food from this restaurant so I can't comment on the serving…read moreexperience. It's true that every few months I see new faces (assistant waitresses mainly), but the Indian/Pakistani guys seem regular to me. It's considered a busy place, very spacious and the customers' origins vary. Now, about the take away food. I've tried all their Biryani dishes and they're mouth watering!! If you live close by, it's better to grab the food and go home to enjoy it, as the price difference is considerable!! For example lamb biryani and peshwari naan bread for £10! A friend of mine tried a spicy lamb dish and he loved it (he's a curry expert with his friends trying different restaurant almost per month for years in Edinburgh). Their paratha bread is also great - lighter in the stomach compared to the naan bread! It's easy to give them a call and order the food. What I found unexpected is that you will get text promotions on your mobile phone every two months or so and there's no obvious option to unsubscribe. I never opted in, so they seem to take it for granted when you make a phone order, I do believe though if you give them a call they should be able to remove you from the list. Their punctuality is not the best when ordering take away: they don't check always how busy is the kitchen, and they mention fixed time 20 mins or so, but if you show up earlier, your order might be ready. Oh, and they accept card payments for less than £10 without any extra charge. Looking forward to trying more dishes and the thrill of the grill!!!

In Australia, what I call a kebab is called schwarma here. That's really more what I was looking for, but at midnight on a Friday I ended up here. Not impressed. It was quite busy and I found the staff to be very rude. They took my partners order then went away before coming back to take my order after I stared them down and stated this was the same order- why wasn't I being served? I'm also pretty sure the meat was served in a tortilla- never in my life have I had a kebab wrapped in a tortilla or wrap bread, its usually wrapped in Turkish bread. The chips were also taken out of the cooked tray, re- cooked and served to me. I'm I'm paying money I would at least expect not getting recycled food. Overall unimpressed. The staff looked bored and uninterested and it was reflected in the quality of the food.

Topkapi - Top Kebab!…read more On my brother's recommendation, I ate here earlier this evening. He had the Donner & I the Lamb Shish Kebab. Both were presented in a tray with salad separate and the kebab in a wholemeal pitta. We sat down to tuck into our meal. My Shish Kebab was gorgeous. The lamb was lovely and tender & the sweet chilli and mint marinade very tasty indeed. My brother allowed me to try some of the donner meat, which was very good too. Personally, I'd have preferred the kebabs to be a little larger, but this is an extremely minor point. Staff were also friendly.

The prompt greeting from the fellow behind the counter was welcoming, verging on friendly. Seemingly to ensure absolutely -no- confusion on the point of whether or not we were buddies, he referred to me no fewer than half a dozen times as 'my friend' during the ten minutes I spent in the shop. Not bad for never having exchanged names, right? After a brief perusal of the menu board, I opted for a basic donner kebab. Reportedly, they also serve up everything from burgers and chips to pizza to curries. Quite versatile, considering the wee footprint of this takeaway. With my meaty bounty (which barely fit in the styrofoam container!) in tow, I returned to my hotel room to stuff my face before passing out, as one does after four drams of whisky in one night. Though I can't rave much about the meat (it ran a bit on the dry side), Pasha certainly isn't stingy with portions. Even though my last meal was nearly twelve hours prior, I was still only able to get down about half my kebab before raising my white flag in surrender. The combination of freshly toasted pita topped with shaved lamb (presumably) and topped off with salad, a lone wedge of tomato, and a heavy dousing of white sauce left me feeling satisfied and sleepy. And as if you had to ask what I did with the other half of my kebab... it vanished once the sun came up and tasted even better than the night before. Waste not, want not!

Nice flavors off the grill, but the chicken was really over-done. I ate it anyway. If he had not over cooked the chicken, I would have easily awarded a 4th star. Only £6. Really great place if you are in need of filling your stomach on a budget.

I love Turkish food and when done well is one of my favorite cuisines. I have been to Istanbul and…read moretried several restaurants and was blown away by their amazing food and ability to utilise every particle of selected meet and veg, so lets see if Truva is up for the challenge. The breakfast I had here today was very tasty but when it comes to representation and the first saliva creating effect of impression it didn't hit high score. I have worked as a chef de partie years ago and easily spot when something has been microwaved and sadly those dry crunchy micro beams was all over the edges of the turkish sausage. Other then that it was really good food and looking at the kitchen they are equipped for greater cooking, so maybe the musakka will be a surprise? Will try one day. Decor is beautiful with red walls and beautiful oriental lamps creating a relaxing atmosphere. I can imagine a great buzz here in evenings with turkish music and dance and hopefully this will happen soon :) One point I'd have to mention is that I had a cotton mop string right next to my table, not too appetizing, other then this it looks clean, but I think they would have more customer if they had an eye for details like mop strings and didnt use microwaves for food, only a bad organised menu needs microwaves in my opinion.

Certainly the service I received was good and the homemade lentil soup and the falafel salad which followed were both tasty, filling and good value for money. This is I think the only place of its sort that is open pretty late in the area and deserves to do well.
