I ate in Cafe Truva near the art college a couple days ago with my husband. This place opened about a year ago, and I was keen to try it out as I am a regular at the Cafe Truva on the Shore. The cafe is situated on Lady Lawson Street, which is a short walk from e.g. Lothian Road or the Grassmarket area.
We arrived in the evening and were greeted by the friendly waitress and chef. After choosing a table in the back, we ordered some drinks and food. The chef recommended turkish lahmacun for main course, and while that was being prepared, we dug into our shared starter: a beautiful, big plate of Turkish mezze with freshly made flatbread and garlic butter. The flatbread was amazing, so good that I had to restrain myself from eating too much as I still wanted to try out the lahmacun.
The main course arrived later. Freshly baked slices of lahmacun, which is like a turkish pizza, were cut up into generous slices which you could roll up and eat with lettuce. The flavour was delicious and went well with red wine. It was quite filling too and I managed only a couple of slices, but luckily we were able to take the rest of the pizza home with us.
For dessert we had coffee with apple pie and dajm tart. Both were scrumptious and ended our evening on a sweet note.
I would recommend this place. The service is friendly and accomodating and big enough to host a private function. read more
