I am just about to buy my 28th guitar from DERRINGERS MUSIC, Forrestville, Adelaide. (It's time to stop, I know, but you musos know what it's like!) I want to say that this music store is totally great for so many reasons. As a guy who has shopped state wide, nationally, and internationally for guitars and musical equipment I feel qualified to express the following. Derringers has got everything. And if the shop doesn't have something-and you want it- they will get it for you. The selection of guitars and amps is awesome. Vintage, Custom Shop, rarities, electric, acoustic, all the good makes! (I want the Paul Kossoff LP!) It's all well displayed- and you can reach everything! I have always found the staff very friendly, helpful and well informed about products- and no breathing down your neck hard-sell! They're all musos, so they know the instrument, etc, you buy is a personal thing and that's how they let you shop. After sales service has been 10/10 on everything I have bought. I know a lot of Adelaide musicians and can honestly say I've never heard any of them express any concerns about their dealings with Derringers. I shop at Derringers because of their practice of beating/matching prices and giving you an offer too hard to refuse. I've never had to buy somewhere else to get something cheaper. (Yes, I still check out other music shops and ebay) I have shopped in 4 of the 6 sections at Derringer's (I don't buy drum stuff and I'm not a DJ) and have experienced the same quality service in each. I have purchased guitars, sound equipment, keyboards, and hired PAs and speakers and have been totally happy in every respect in all four areas. This review is mainly directed to the Drum Shop section of Derringers. I've been a customer of theirs since late 2007 & I have had many successful transactions up to this date. All the staff especially Con, Dan & Sven have a real indepth informative attitude towards my drumming & percussive needs. We've have good interesting discussions when I ask for something unusual, I find it on the internet so they know where I'm coming from, then it's OK we can do that!. I'm working on a project now & we've almost got there (waiting on a bass drum head). They have re-arranged the store so that more stuff is on display, gives one a better overall idea just walking in the door. The place keeps heaps of options within reach (even financially). Got a few more ideas coming to me, so I know I'll be shoppng there until I get too old or run out of money perhaps? The DJ & electric (keyboards, etc) & Guitar shop haven't escaped my attention, if I know what I want or not, the staff let me wander around until something appeals to me, most likely I find what I want (how many guitars can a man want, ask my brother) he even got himself a Drumkit. Fantastic place full of everything musical... Everything! Helpful staff and easy to demo gear. Went in on the weekend and walked away with a digital piano and stand at not only the best price in Adelaide but better than online, better than US Amazon even without shipping! Staff were laidback and approachable, friendly and knowledgeable. I went back yesterday and bought a stool for the piano which they discounted without me even asking and also picked up some headphones at again easily the best price in Australia. (pretty much 40% off retail) Headphones weren't set up for demo so the staffer asked which I wanted to compare and got them out of new packaging and let me listen to both pairs to my hearts content swapping between my phone and their mixer as a source. Can't ask for better service than that! Will be my one stop shop for pro audio gear from now on. read more

Wow! That's pretty much all I have to say about Derringers. However, that wouldn't be much of a review would it? Found just minute away from the CBD on Leader Street, Forestville, Derringers music is an absolute one stop shop(s) for all your musical needs. Each area of interest has it's own building and staff ready and willing to give you advice on all things musical. The standout amongst these building is the guitar shop. Take away all of the signing and one could easily mistake this place for a simple house on the corner. However, when you walk in there are guitars for all levels of skill and price found hung up on walls and floor arranged very conveniently by brand. Even if you're not a music player, it's well worth it just to have a look at some of the vintage guitars they have on display. read more

Derringers is my one stop shop for all my music needs. Every time I go in there I feel welcomed and I trust that all of the staff know a lot about the products. I went in on Tuesday to get a ukulele not knowing what to expect because I knew that one of the sales team would help me out with no worries. Anthony helped me understand the differences between all of the ukuleles and when I was ready to buy he gave me a great price on both the ukulele and the bag for it. I noticed he used a tuner to demonstrate how it plays, and when I asked for one he also gave me great advice on how to use it... I also got a great price for that too haha! Couldn't be happier with the way my purchase went at Derringers. Fantastic customer service at the POS and the owner went above and beyond, ordering in a pretty unique guitar for me - and then giving me a good deal on top of that! In general, when youre about to pay a grand (or a lot more) on a purchase, you reeaally want to be sure about it - and buying through Derringers I havent second guessed a thing, not once. They are true professionals, who will give an honest opinion and not just try to sell you something different/more expensive just to turn a profit. Derringers Music are the best Music Organization I have dealt with to date. Firstly, their products are reliable and are certainly the best on the market. Their passion for music is displayed highly through their exceptional customer service they provide every time. Trent (Sales) has helped me build a small DJ company for an affordable price (as I had no music background) and is certainly a valued asset to their company. This place is huge. The seer amount of stock on the floor is over whelming. My partner and I went into the store to pick up the little one a beginners guitar. The staff were informative and took the time to explain all the different options that were available to us and in the end we walked with a heavily discount deal. There was one issue as after few month the guitar amp that came on the package started to play up. Although I know Derringers wasn't at fault I was still disappoint. Luckily the staff had the amp promptly replaced under warranty from the manufacturer. I would recommend this music store read more

Just bought a Digital Yamaha Piano at Derringers on Leader street, Adelaide. Not only was the product and price fantastic, the whole experience was made all the more amazing by Gabriel. Very kind and extremely helpful. He went out of his way to help us from start to the point he loaded the piano and stand into the car. Absolute gentleman! So much better to talk with real people with proper experience than some of those keyboard experts on forums etc. Cant be faulted with price and range and a true institution here in S.A. So much better than dealing with smaller or online stores that cant even be bother to get back to you because they are too busy online trawling for ways to make a cheap $.
