Staff, nurses and doctors are all great, very friendly and thorough. I've had to have several suspicious spots removed without any problem. I have been a patient here for years, but tired of their constant indifferent attitude at the front desk. This has been consistent for years and unfortunately this has never improved. Wow, I really need to hold my emotions in check as I summarize my experience with Dermatology Associates. I was introduced to Dr. Wenzel in Front Royal, VA for the first time and there he removed a mole and sent it to the lab for testing. Two days later I received a call from Dr Wenzel and learned that I had melanoma. We scheduled outpatient surgery in his Winchester office for the morning of September 28, 2020. I checked in at the front desk and signed my credit card for my $40 co-pay. It was there that the receptionist leaned forward to take my temperature on my forehead. I moved and requested that she take my temperature in the crease of my elbow or wrist, but she quickly stated their policy was to get the reading from the forehead. The office manager, Lisa Avey stepped in and reinforced this policy and touted her medical degree and expertise. I stated that my recent visit in their Front Royal office required no temperature reading at all. I also let Lisa know that my dentist accommodated my request and took my temperature in my elbow as I felt uncomfortable with the forehead reading. However, Lisa was unaccommodating. I did request that they take my temperature orally, but that too was met with opposition, a firm no. Lisa Avey then mandated that I take the forehead temperature or leave. I was shocked and humiliated as our conversation spilled over to the other patients in line and the waiting room. I felt discriminated against and belittled. I turned toward the door and walked away carrying my cancer out the door. Later I called into the office and left a voice message for Dr Wenzel and explained my encounter, but he did not return my call. I wish we could have resolved what seemed to be a minor patient preference. I will NEVER seek help from this practice again. read more

CEDAR CREEK LOCATION!! (On Weems) Ok, so the doctor we saw was nice and all but the woman sitting at the front desk with the unnaturally dark hair.... Omg! Because of her I will never go back. She sat there the ENTIRE time, before and after my appointment, chomping on her gum like some kind of barn yard animal. What is wrong with people to think that is acceptable? In a professional environment!! It was so disgusting and loud I almost walked out. If they think this kind of behavior is ok for work than I don't want those type of people working on my skin care. read more

I came here a few times to get microdermabrasions done. The person doing the procedure used too harsh of chemicals on my face. As a result, I ended up with a permanent scar. Then, I came here to have an infection checked out. The doctor put on a clean glove, then touched the doorknob before touching the wound. The infection worsened after that, so I had return to get the infection checked again. This time, the doctor acted like it was nothing. I had to go to a different doctor in order to get anything done about the infection. DO NOT go here. read more

This place is expensive for what little they can do out of the little availability they have. I expected a one-day visit, now being pushed back another month for treatment. The doc doesn't have time for a 15 minute operation even after I wait a half hour on him! They'll schedule multiple appointments with you to get their money's worth and couldn't care less about treating you like a number. read more

I would give an in depth review but apparently you have to leave a message to schedule an appointment and whoever is in charge or that does not call you back. I went with another dermatologist that has better reviews and was able to get someone right away. This office needs better follow up procedures for sure. read more

Terrible experience...don't waste your time or money. They double and triple book your appointment for each time slot with each doctor! After almost an hour I left and they did not refund me my copay when I asked for it back. Maybe the doctors are good, I couldn't get past their horrible administration! read more

Dear doctors at Dermatology Associates - PLEASE do something about the customer service skills of your office staff!!! I've called twice to speak with the staff about scheduling an appointment. Both times the staff (two different people) were very impatient, and made me feel like I was bothering them. Even the phone recording sounds unfriendly and uninviting (to me). The first impression and customer service for this group is terrible. It looks like Dermatology Associates may be the only choice in town, but based on my interaction with your rude staff, I will be looking in Loudoun County. read more

Well this office is not ran very well. I saw the Doctor in March, he started a treatment on me and asked that I return two weeks later so that he could follow up on my treatment. Then I get this call from the office that they wanted to cancel my appointment and just have me talk to the nurse over the phone. The nurse told me to schedule my next appointment for the end of May so that the doctor could recheck the treatment area to make sure that he didn't have to send me to a surgeon. Two days before my appointment they called to reschedule my appointment to another phone appointment. First I said ok, but after thinking about it I called back and asked for it to be rescheduled, this was left on their recorder on a Friday. The next week they called to have the phone appointment, at which time I explained that I had called to reschedule this this appointment and no one has called back! The nurse told me ok I'll mark you as canceled, and hung up! I then called back to try to reschedule my appointment which again it was left on their recorder. This time the office manager returned my call, told me that maybe this was not the right office for me and that she was releasing me from the practice! I told her that that was not what I wanted to do, but as I was trying to explain she told me to stop talking over her. Which I wasn't, she was talking over me. Then she hung up! Think they need to look at how they are operating this office if they want patients. read more

As far as the doctors, I guess their fine. I only saw them once about two years ago. The office staff are horrible though (specifically the billing manager). I missed an appointment and they charged me $30. I was told it was the doctors policy and I was informed when I filled out the new patient forms, which was like 2 years ago. I asked since it is the doctor's policy, can I speek with one of them. She said, "No! I am the office manager and I say no!" I then, simply said, "ok, have a nice day." It was quite apparent she was not interested in helping me. She is on some power trip. I understand, that is the policy, but I have never missed an appointment. My job takes me out of town frequently and it was a mistake. No compassion. I would stay away from this office just because of the office staff. read more

if i could, they would get a -0 from me. I went for a skin check last year. the doctor was okay. this week i received a "reminder" for a follow-up appointment. The form letter they sent had my date of birth, and information that i had had skin cancer before in it. the envelop was not sealed, leaving it open for anyone to read my personal information. what about Hipa regulations? I called the office to speak with lisa, the office manager, asking for a return call. no response. today, when i called back, i got her answering machine again. to say i am upset is an understatement. my personal information was compromised as far as i am concerned. not only that, the person, beth cristy who sent the reminder spelled my name correctly in the address, but in the salutation, it was misspelled. it just shows the lack of care and concern about the patients. also, when i had the appointment a year ago, i remember sitting in the office for some time before being seen. the office is poorly run and the staff needs training or replacement. i would NEVER recommend this place, nor will i ever step foot in this poor excuse of a doctor's office. read more
