We did a quick 5 min question in the beginning to get a feel for what I was looking for. The room was relaxing and smelled amazing. Her energy made me instantly comfortable. The facial had my skin glowing for days after!! I wish I could afford one weekly. The facial was soo relaxing. The massage was AMAZING. I was snatched for days after. It was cool to feel where the sensitivity and resistance in my body was when she was giving me the massage. And afterwards when we were discussing the massage notes, what she described was exactly what I was feeling. So I knew immediately this was a major benefit. As expected I felt a little ill afterwards as the built up toxins were leaving my body. But It was definitely worth it, as I said my midsection was visibly less inflamed and overall feeling lighter and more balanced. I will definitely be back for the full body!

I had a good experience but when I got home I noticed I still had a good amount of hair around and it wasn't removed. As for the aftercare instructions, I asked many questions, more than once to better prepare myself. Linda sent pictures and some info on products needed, however it's broken communication and not clear on what's needed. Few hours later, no response to questions. A little frustrating now, since I don't feel confident for aftercare knowledge. 2nd response to your comment. Regardless of her responding or telling me during the appointment. I shouldn't have to wait on answers or things verses having a professional after care sheet. I hear what you're saying, nonetheless, I still had to text her and ask many questions due to not understanding her. I paid $150 and I still have hair on my face, that doesn't make sense. That in itself is frustrating and not professional. You're entitled to feel your opinion and defend the business. I think it's unprofessional. Simple.

Wow, I just realized that it's been almost 10 years to the day since my first review!…read more I can honestly say this is the only beauty center I have returned to consistently. Just went last week - Christine is still amazing (especially with the way she gently does extractions, which is no easy feat), the space is still gorgeous and despite rising prices, theirs is still extremely reasonable (highly recommend their offered combination services). What I really appreciate is that the owner ensures the ladies performing the services (they have four working there now - so proud of them!) have access to an ever-evolving line of products, machinery and techniques. Bit of a background on me: I am a woman of color with oily skin and pores on the larger side. Christine's expert services help me keep this at bay, especially what I began going for - microdermabrasion. Cannot recommend their version enough - the new machine they have is both thorough and soothing. Bonus: plenty of parking! The plaza they are in is thoughtfully designed, despite there being quite a few businesses. Second bonus: they are around the corner from the World Gourmet Buffet and a couple of tea shops, so if you are hungry or want to grab boba/Bubble Tea, you can do both!

He said "reach…read moreout directly so it can be resolved at the level it should have been", which is odd, because he was the one that initially sent me the business' refund policy when I asked for a refund and rejected my refund in the first place. It just feels like he is wanting to publicly look like he is addressing the situation properly. I did end up reaching out again today, per his request, and Elena Aleteanu, the other owner, has not changed her stance. She is telling me that they can't do anything on their end and that I need to reach out to Square. Square is telling me that they can't do anything on their end and that the business needs to initiate the refund. So, I reached out to Ronald again directly, and he did not respond. In addition, he got my Google review deleted and is trying to get this one deleted as well, but thankfully Yelp is a lot better about keeping honest reviews. I also forgot to note that the service was booked for two hours total, as a side by side massage. Elena tried to SCAM my sister and her partner by offering each a 1 hour service, one at a time (because of being understaffed), even though it is a two hour service. I paid $400 for the massages, so she's was trying to tell my sister that each service (which included a full massage and facial) of $200 was for one hour only, which is a lie. ORIGINAL POST: AVOID California Skin Care & Day Spa in Newark I prepaid for a service (it was a gift), received a confirmation reminder the day before, and made arrangements for my sister and her partner who are visiting from out of town. I even paid for an Uber to get them there. They arrived on time and the place was closed. No staff, no setup, nothing. They waited about 40 minutes, while I tried calling and messaging every available number. Eventually Ronald Aleteanu, one of the owners, responded on WhatsApp , but that did not change the situation and the service still was not provided. Between the Uber and waiting, this ended up wasting about 2 hours of their time (& money for the Uber), and they left with nothing. After all of that, Elena Aleteanu (who eventually came) claimed she had called and left a message (and at one point claimed that she talked to someone - a complete lie). I never received any call or voicemail, and I confirmed that the number I entered was correct. Their explanation just does not add up, especially since they had no problem sending a reminder the day before. What is most frustrating is that they still refused to issue a refund for a service they never provided. Instead, they only offered store credit, which is completely unreasonable. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. I also posted this on NextDoor and numerous people replied noting that the same thing happened to them. So this is not an isolated incident. I've posted those screenshots here.
