DO NOT GO HERE FOR PIERCINGS…read more i want to preface this post that jake is not apart of the association of professional piercers (app) which should be the first red flag. since there are not a lot of regulations regarding piercings, i would suggest only going to one that is apart of the app because of their commitment and dedication to safety and sanitation standards. i am honestly disappointed having to write this review since i had high expectations given the other reviews. i got two piercings and one is healing well. however, the other one is not after getting it pierced nearly a month ago. i went in to have it looked at and the interaction was very unpleasant, giving me a reason to write this review. his first comment was "do you know how long it takes to heal" after asking if he would take a look at it. he then was gaslighting me saying i wasn't cleaning it and he would give me an aftercare sheet. he THEN proceeded to back out so quickly and said i needed to go to a doctor and he's just a piercer and it's unethical to give me medical advice LOL. he did not even try to help remedy my piercing at all. anyways i went to another piercer to get a second opinion and all that was needed was the correct jewelry for my anatomy. there was no infection, it was simply irritated. jake actin like i got some disease for real. disgusted by jake's customer service and unprofessional behavior given HE WAS THE ONE WHO PIERCED IT.

He recommended jewelry options based on my style, then brought me back to do the piercing same-day (it was a Monday morning, so the store wasn't busy). He was meticulous in the setup and talked me through every step of the process. Easy and done. It's been two weeks and my new piercings are healing beautifully and I am already loving the placement and the options it affords me. When worn with earrings in my original first piercings, the two stacked together actually detract from the stretching. Ben is a total pro. If and when I get more piercings I absolutely will ask for him.

I chose Fiat Lux for my 12-year-old son's ear piercings because I believed their reputation and premium pricing would translate into quality products and service. Unfortunately, I couldn't have been more disappointed. Fiat Lux requires customers to purchase their jewelry for piercings, and the earrings were extremely expensive. Within two weeks, one earring broke. It took another two weeks to repair, only to break AGAIN within a week, causing the front piece to fall off and become lost. The following week, the second earring broke and the front piece fell off and got lost as well. Three failures involving two earrings in a matter of weeks. For a 12-year-old child, whose age Fiat Lux knew. If their pieces were this fragile, they should have let us know they were not suitable for a child. After repeatedly reaching out to request a refund, I received virtually no communication. No phone calls, no proactive follow-up. When someone finally responded, they suggested using a vacuum cleaner and flashlight to find the missing jewelry and recommended purchasing jewelry insurance! Reading over their one star reviews you will see a theme of broken pieces weeks after purchase and no action from the store. Earrings to be most specific. So if the store is hearing of this, perhaps it has to do with their pieces and not customers "losing" pieces. What they failed to acknowledge is that the jewelry wasn't simply lost. It BROKE. Repeatedly. Even after being repaired. I understand products sometimes fail. What defines a good business is how it responds. I wasn't expecting perfection, just accountability and reasonable customer service. Instead, I received a dismissive response and no meaningful resolution. I genuinely wanted to support a neighborhood business. I cannot recommend Fiat Lux, particularly to parents considering piercings for their children. Premium prices should come with quality products and accountability. Neighborhood businesses thrive on community trust. Unfortunately, Fiat Lux has lost mine.

When I went back to address the mistake and ask for a refund, their response was shocking: * Zero Accountability: They refused to accept any blame. * Blamed the Customer: They claimed the entire issue was my fault. * Completely Inflexible: They refused to offer any financial resolution or money back. (They only said they would pierce me when it healed from their original unprofessional piercing. Which I of course refused. I obviously don't trust this establishment so why risk myself a second time.) This business is highly unprofessional and lacks basic customer service. Save your time and money--go somewhere that actually cares about symmetry, hygiene, and accountability. Will not recommend.

I've come here for every single piercing I have and Ive been coming here even before I moved to east bay when I was in LA. One star off because of a few things. The first is a bit disappointing. The staff are generally pretty good but I think the majority of them have a a bit of a chip on their shoulder. Every single time I've visited I feel like I'm being talked down to in some regard. It's not enough for me to dissuade people from coming here but it's the kind of passive aggressive comments that are said with a smile and it unfortunately has caused some discomfort. Like I said though, they're incredible skilled and I would rather deal with a few weird comments than get pierced by sunshine and rainbows but botches my piercing. The one exception is Chris who I've gotten at least two of my piercings from and from now on will specifically request. He is very kind and knowledgeable and when I was getting my nipples pierced he was very professional. I was incredibly nervous and it was still a really painful piercing but I'm glad he was so experienced because I could imagine it being a much more painful process had he not been. He also gave me his business card following my last session and to contact him directly if there was any trouble with the healing or if I had questions. I can't recommend him enough! Wait times can also really vary but most of the time I find myself waiting long even if I have an appointment. They take walk ins but be aware that busy days can mean 40 min waits! The piercings are also pretty expensive -- it's a base price of $50 for service plus the jewelry. My nipple piercings were $260 for both which is on the pricier end. I would still recommend coming here regardless though because they use high quality jewelry and once again, the staff here are very experienced. They have a really wide variety of jewelry to pick from and have a lot of options. I actually overheard a conversation between one of the staff and another customer about how the other shops around Haight didn't have titanium and that it was better than surgical steel and the staff member corrected her that while their shop did have it, it's also misinformation that one is better than the other. Thought that was neat!

We booked an appointment with Ten Tigers on September 24 for October 3 at 11:20 for our infant's ear piercing. Before booking, I specifically communicated with them through text and was told that I could schedule the appointment through their website. We followed their instructions and booked accordingly. Before our appointment, we also received a text reminding us to complete the minor consent/release form, which we completed online. I uploaded my government-issued ID because the form specifically asked for identification for the parent/guardian. Nowhere during the booking process, in the text conversation, or in the consent form were we clearly informed that we needed to bring an official state-issued ID or certified birth certificate for our infant. When we arrived, we were suddenly told that they required a state/government-issued ID for the baby, along with the guardian's ID. I explained that our infant does not have a government-issued photo ID. They then said a birth certificate or picture of it would work. Unfortunately, we did not have the birth certificate with us. However, I offered multiple forms of official documentation identifying our baby, including Kaiser hospital birth/discharge records showing her name and my name, as well as her Social Security documentation. I even offered to show them a copy of her hospital birth records. They refused everything because they wanted a document with an official state seal. The biggest issue isn't even that they have documentation requirements. The issue is that they failed to communicate those requirements BEFORE our appointment. When I questioned why this information wasn't disclosed on their website or during the booking process, the employee kept giving us different explanations. We were told that minor appointments should apparently be made by phone so they can explain what documents are required, yet we were previously directed to book through their website. None of this was communicated to us beforehand. I was also told that different locations have different policies and that requirements can vary depending on the state or county. If that is the case, those requirements need to be clearly communicated to customers before they drive to the appointment. It is not reasonable to let a parent book an appointment online, complete the required consent form, arrive with their infant, and THEN tell them they were supposed to bring documentation that was never clearly disclosed. We drove to the appointment prepared to follow their requirements based on the information they gave us, only to be turned away because of a requirement that was never properly communicated. What makes this even more frustrating is that their own consent form and website did not make it clear that the infant needed to provide a state-issued document/certified birth certificate. I completed the form they instructed me to complete and brought the documentation I had available for my baby. For a business performing piercings on infants, clear communication and proper preparation should be a priority. Parents should not have to guess what documents to bring or find out about critical requirements after arriving. If they have strict documentation requirements for minors, PUT THEM CLEARLY ON THE WEBSITE, DURING BOOKING, AND IN THE APPOINTMENT CONFIRMATION. Don't waste people's time and then blame the customer for not knowing information that was never provided. Very poor communication, inconsistent information, and an unnecessarily frustrating experience. We will be taking our baby somewhere else. I strongly recommend calling ahead and getting every requirement in writing before booking with Ten Tigers. 1 star because 0 stars isn't an option.
