Dr Hahn has always been the best example of what a dentist should be. This includes his office and staff.

Some of the original office staff was still working so we felt some comfort knowing them. Almost immediately, as we took our seats in the dental chair the subject of food came up. Dr. Koo is Korean and Korean food is our favorite. We shared some of the Korean restaurants in the Federal Way area and our favorite dishes. He was somewhat surprised as to our knowledge of various Korean dishes and he suggested several dishes we should try at our next outing. Examinations and cleanings completed, we agreed to continue doing business with Epic Dental. Highly recommended. The office is located on East Valley Rd adjacent to on & off ramps to Hwy. 167 and there's lots of parking.

They were so thorough, checked my jaw, did scans, and made sure there were no issues with my teeth or anything serious like needing a root canal. Everyone there was so kind and patient, and I never felt rushed or dismissed. The assistant was especially sweet and made me feel really comfortable, I had a good time just chatting and waiting for the doctor to come in! They really took the time to explain things and made me feel at ease the whole time. I left feeling relieved and really grateful I went. If you're nervous about going to the dentist or just want a place that truly cares and does a thorough job, I definitely recommend coming here.

I have been coming here for a few years and previously had good experiences with the dentists and…read morecleanings. However, my recent experience was extremely disappointing related to billing transparency and how I was treated when I tried to ask questions. During a routine preventive visit, I asked whether the X-ray that was recommended would be covered by my Delta Dental insurance. I was assured it was included in my preventive coverage. Later, I received a $129 bill for the X-ray. When I called to get clarification, the representative I spoke with was dismissive, refused to connect me with the dentist or a manager, and hung up on me while I was attempting to understand the situation. I have requested documentation and I am currently disputing the charge because I was not informed of any out-of-pocket costs before the X-ray was taken. I have always believed patients deserve clear communication about coverage and respectful treatment when asking questions. Unfortunately, this experience has completely changed my view of the office, and I will not be returning unless the billing practices and customer service are significantly improved. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make changes to prevent this from happening to others.

The details of…read moremy treatment plan were not made clear to me during my initial appointment, and the dentist refused to admit she had poorly communicated those details. She didn't explain that there was a possibility of a root canal until I was numb. She also didn't inform me that one tooth had a cavity, instead of just needing to fix a reconstruction. She also forgot multiple times that one of my teeth was NOT a filling, it was a reconstruction from an old chip. The details of my care were not written down for me, i was simply given a picture of which teeth needed work, so I had no record to show what I was even told in my consultation, leading to the dentist gaslighting me about what I distinctly remember her telling me. Then she didn't finish properly grinding down one of my fillings, which prevented me from biting or chewing correctly. I would not recommend this dentist.

When they called me back, I had the X-rays and the check in. It took maybe 50 minutes. The dentist would come and go and what not. He the said he was sending a hygienist in to start the cleaning. I wanted 40 minutes for them to show up, check in on me, give me an update- something. No one did. I had to go to work because at this point, I had been there for 2 hours and haven't gotten the cleaning. I flagged someone down and told her I had to leave. She said I had to checkout. I stood for about 5 minutes (with no one helping me) so I left. I felt bad at first and called them, no answer - left voicemail. No return call. So oh well, I guess they don't care. I tried to make another appointment online- but it said I wasn't allowed. Maybe they banned me? I don't know- but moral of the story- go somewhere else.

I scheduled a routine cleaning appointment. During the visit, I was told that some of my gum measurements were between 4-6 mm and that I would need a deep cleaning instead. I understand that dentists may recommend additional treatments based on their clinical judgment. However, I clearly stated multiple times that I was not comfortable proceeding with deep cleaning during this visit and that I only wanted the regular cleaning I had originally scheduled. Despite explaining this several times, the staff continued to push the deep cleaning. I was eventually asked by the office manager to sign a refusal form confirming that I declined the recommended treatment. The situation felt unnecessarily pressured and uncomfortable. After I declined the deep cleaning, the hygienist performed what appeared to be an extremely brief cleaning that lasted only a few minutes. The process felt rushed and did not resemble the standard cleaning service I had scheduled or previously received at other dental offices. At one point, after I stated again that I did not want the deep cleaning, the hygienist used a metal scaler to scrape a couple of times on my back molars and showed me the tartar. There was no proper rinsing with water and no thorough cleaning performed. At the end of the visit, I informed the office manager and the owner that I did not receive the service I had originally scheduled. I asked the owner directly whether the reason I was not allowed to receive a regular cleaning was because I refused the deep cleaning they recommended. He confirmed that this was indeed the reason. I fully respect that dentists may recommend treatments they believe are necessary. However, patients should also have the right to decline a recommended procedure and still receive the service they originally booked without feeling pressured or dismissed. Unfortunately, this experience felt more like a sales push than patient-centered care. Patients should feel comfortable discussing treatment options without feeling pressured into procedures they are not ready to accept.

Please DO NOT give this office your business. I went into Dr. Nguyen's office looking for a new…read morelocal dentist. Her staff was personable enough, but the work she did was so terrible I had to get it RE-DONE just weeks later. My new dentist was appalled that she would have allowed me to leave her office and arranged to have x-rays sent to my insurance company to explain why I had to have re-work done so quickly. The insurance company and my new dentist asked that she PAY ME BACK for the work she did. I went in for regular dental work and needed two fillings. I warned her up front that since I was a pre-teen, I have had a very abnormal reaction to numbing agents. It takes A LOT to get my numb. This is because I have a central nerve that runs VERY close to the surface. I have had multiple doctors confirm this. She said okay, no problem. When the work started she gave me one round of numbing and tried to start work. I told her, "I'm sorry this is very painful. I told you I am a little different." She said, "Oh you just need some more time for it to work." OK. She tried again 15 mins later. Again, INTENSE pain. I said, "Please, I am telling you, this is still painful." She reluctantly gave me another round and waited another 20 mins. (Mind you I am now 45 mins in the chair and nothing has been done). She tried again and I said it was better, but still could feel things. She said, "You shouldn't be able to feel this." And I reminded her for a THIRD time that I have a different physiology than many. She then leaned into me and asked, "Well I know you may not want to say this, but are you on drugs?" EXCUSE ME?!! "Well this would happen if you were a heavy recreational drug user. You should just tell me if you're an addict. That would make this easier." I was STUNNED. I had warned her prior to doing ANY of this that I have had trouble with numbness and THIS was her reaction?! It sadly bears stating, that I am a black woman... I hope that is not why she made this ridiculous and offensive assumption, but ..... "NO." I told her. "I am NOT an addict or drug user. This is exactly what I told you about before we started nearly an hour ago." "OK if you insist... but it really would make things easier." I wanted to get up and walk out, but I am now mid-drilling (she did SOME before I couldn't take the pain anymore) and I didn't know how to leave with my mouth LITERALLY mid-procedure. When she finally gave a final round of numbing agent and I could take it. But since we were so far behind she kept stopping the work and going to work on OTHER PATIENTS in the middle of my procedure. Finally 2 hours in on 2 fillings, she barely buffed my fillings and said...OK you'll have to come back another time for me to finish. The feeling in my mouth was UNBELEIVABLE. The filling was so rough I could feel my tongue was going to be rubbed raw. My jaw was ACHING (I have TMJ) from holding it open for 2 hours. And what I didn't know is that her work was so harsh that my gums would recede. They are STILL (a year later) not normal and I have to have my new dentist put a protective sheath around them every 6 months or so to prevent pain because my gums have never been normal again around those teeth. My new dentist is lovely. She Immediately LISTENED when I told her about my issue with numbing and I have NEVER had a problem again. When she saw the work Dr. Nguyen had done, she was so disturbed she said she wanted to make sure she documented the HORRENDOUS work she did so that it could be corrected without me having to pay out of pocket. (Insurance companies will not pay for duplicative work in the same 6 month period without documentation.) The insurance company agreed to pay -- process that. I asked my new dentist what I should do about this. I was traumatized, discriminated against and my teeth were REALLY messed up. She said the only thing I could do would be to ask for the portion of the work I paid for to be returned. When I called Dr. Nguyen's office to explain. Her staff was again, kind but all I received from her was a folded blank piece of paper in the mail from Advanced Dentistry, with a check for $248. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE Dr. NGUYEN YOUR BUSINESS. DO NOT TRUST HER WITH YOUR DENTAL HEALTH. PLEASE don't be me.

She wasn't able to show me any of the issues on the X-rays, she just told me they were there and got hostile and defensive when I tried to question further. My mom is a retired dentist so I was raised to have EXTREMELY good oral hygiene, and I know my mouth is in very good shape. So I asked around and found a different dentist with a reputation for honesty to get a second opinion. Zero cavities. No teeth need pulling. My gums are in great shape. I needed two sealants on my molars redone and one tooth had a slight weak spot we put a preventative sealant on, but other than that my mouth is in great condition. They showed me everything on the X-rays and told me to keep up the good work. Dr. Nguyen lied about everything wrong with my mouth and got angry when I tried to ask questions.
