My coworkers have been coming here for a few weeks and recommended that I check it out. They typically see James and he does a great job. I saw Justin and I was super pleased with the haircut as well as him. He's a chill dude, and just the right amount of conversation without talking too much or just being silent the whole time lol. I've definitely found my go-to barber for my time here in Ohio. From what I observed, looked like all the barbers, male and females, were doing great work and seemed friendly. The aesthetic of the barbershop itself is super nice. Seriously, overall this was the best barbershop I've ever been to. I wish it was in my hometown back in Arizona:( It's going to be hard leaving this standard and going back to what I'm used to! It's not the cheapest place I've ever been, and it's not the most expensive place either. It's reasonably priced. I decided against complaining, as my perception was the cut I asked for wasn't going to be something I could achieve here...though the barber was confident and said he could do the basic fade I asked for. The classic/old school barber environment was cool and I didn't mind the classic rock music either. The barbers working here obviously had been cutting hair for a while. Unfortunately one of the other barbers not cutting my hair seemed to have endless rude comments about women in the workplace and "their proper roles" which I personally decided to just ignore as ignorant "conversation", but feel it's important for others to be aware of before choosing to book with this shop. I'd say a basic buzz cut would have probably been a "safe" option, but not what I'm looking for in a haircut. The cost is low which caught my attention, but I'd gladly spend more elsewhere moving forward.

But they had jumped their prices up substantially. So, I was searching for a barber or stylist 1, that didn't cost an arm & a leg, 2, had very good reviews. Hicks Manor Barber Shop met that criteria. I stopped by in the afternoon. Only had to wait about 10-12 minutes for a barber. The gentleman asked how I wanted it cut and how short. Chatted a bit while he cut my hair, pleasant conversation. Done in short order and looked great. Main test was what my wife thought. Passed with flying colors! Very happy with the finished product, the price, the time involved and , it was close to home! Month or two later, back in the area one morning, see the front door standing open, I need a cut, I try to pop in again. Now this was only the second time I had been there, I didn't know their hours of operation, I figured, door open, store open. So when I walk in there's a small man cutting hair. He looks at me, and I ask if it's ok to do a walk-in....seemed reasonable. He then explains to me, like I was just dropped off by the short bus outside, how they're not open yet. He does offer to make me an appointment, but is rude the entire time. I make the reservation for later in the day, but an appointment prevents me from making it, and I have to say, I wasn't too broke up about it. Several months go by. I need a cut, and decide to give them another shot. This time I'll save myself the blood pressure boost, and call ahead for an appointment first. So I call, same rude M**F answers the phone. He first just seems extremely inconvenienced at having had to answer the phone. But then he's just such a.....well you know. He starts asking me about the type of cut I want, I tell him I just want a regular haircut. He asks me who I want to cut my hair, and has such a condescending tone, as if I should know the names of every barber that works there. I didn't know the name of the girl that cut my hair the first time until I went to their website to look up their info to post here. Needless to say, I made an appointment, but never went because after I got off the phone, I was convinced that if I went there and had to talk to that D**K I would go to jail. Bottom line, I had a decent cut by Debbi once, and krappy staff (the same guy) ruined the rest for me. It's a shame, Debbi was extremely nice and friendly while I was there, the even have this membership deal I was thinking of doing for my family after I left the first time.
