I called his office to make an appointment and spoke with "Deanna or Deena" who is one of the most unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful people I have ever encountered on the phone. She basically accused me of lying when I told her that I had consulted with Dr. Rival as an ENT in a hospital setting flatly saying "Dr. Rival does not work at St. Mikes hospital" after I told her I had seen him there, then told me that because my issue was "medical" and not cosmetic I had to wait "with the other 800 people" that had medical referrals when I asked for his availability. Only when i insisted that I had seen him in a hospital did she offer to get my chart, and when she obviously saw that I had been telling the truth, changed her tune and said "well it was not him who did the rest, it was a technician" when he was the attending doctor, and was there the whole time. She then hung up the phone on me when I asked to speak to someone else. Completely and utterly unprofessional person, and terrible attitude! After she said it was done she didn't even do the bottom of the eyeliner, only did the top right and did even touch top left eyeliner I even told her that she didn't do all the eyes and told me she did and it just needs to heal which was a fucking lie. Called the office and expressed my concerns. FInding a family doctor is hard, so when I moved downtown 10 years ago, I discovered that I couldn't find a family doctor, but I could be assigned to a Nurse Practitioner at WCH Family Practice. For those reluctant to opt for a Nurse Practitioner, I can tell you from my experience, it is better than a family doctor. Anything they can handle on their own is done quickly because you can see them sooner than the overbooked doctors, and when there is something they can't handle, it is referred to a doctor in the clinic or a specialist, so it is the best of both worlds. My Nurse practitioner retired last year and I ended up becoming a patient of one of the doctors in the clinic, and while she is a great doctor, WCH is a teaching hospital, so she is only in the clinic twice a week, so appointments are hard to get. However, WCH family practice offers urgent care appointments in the evenings, so if a doctor can't see you that day, you can see one in the evening, instead of going to a walk in clinic or emergency. The clinic is very accessible, something I appreciated after my knee surgery.
