Here are some of the things I like about Dr. Schmidt's office: +All the staff, including Dr. Schmidts, are very friendly. +It is expensive (as it is an orthodontic treatment), but they are pretty transparent about the fees. +They give you a discount if you pay in full (instead of installment). I got a 5% discount for paying cash upfront. As it costs several thousand dollars, 5% actually means something. +Dr. Schmidt's office is across the street/parking lot from my son's dentist, Dr. Piper, which is pretty convenient. When my son has a cleaning appointment at Dr. Piper's office, he goes to Dr. Schmidt's office to take off the wires first. After cleaning at Dr. Piper's office, he goes back to Dr. Schmidt's office to have the wires put back in! I'm pretty happy with all the services they have provided. I had braces before (13 years ago or so) and was developing a gap in between my two front teeth. I was thinking I would have to pay a bunch to get it fixed before my wedding but Shoff figured out a way to do it without breaking the bank and it was fixed in 2 weeks! Any time I'm there in person or I call everyone is friendly and it makes for a really positive experience. In terms of skill, it seems like Dr. Shoff knows exactly what he's doing. And while I'm treatment my regular dentist was involved and behind the scenes they discuss my treatment. When I'm there for an appointment it doesn't matter which assistant I get because they're all awesome! I usually have questions because I'm a curious person and they can answer my questions or they write down the question to ask Dr. Shoff if it's beyond their scope. The awesome thing is that now that I'm done treatment I can still go back. For example, I got a filling on a tooth and my retainer didn't fit right. I was able to make an appointment and get new impressions done and a week later (only because that's how my schedule worked out) I got my new retainers. I highly recommend Dr. Shoff if you're looking into braces! Like I said, he is awesome!

Put the bite block in my mouth and it immediately starts burning increasingly. I try to tough it out but two minutes later she's putting blue stuff on each tooth and I'm telling her I can't stand it anymore, it burns. She says "we just sanitize them and rinse them with water" totally disregarding that my mouth is burning, badly. I tell her to TAKE IT OUT. "But we'll have to start all over again." This lady clearly doesn't care that someone left something chemical on this bite block and it's HURTING me. I start to get up at that point and finally she's like "okay okay, one minute" and takes each tool out of my mouth with no haste. I get up and tell her again that it's burning down my throat now, and I need water. She shows me the sink and I proceed to cough and rinse. To top it off, this gal talks to me like I'm a 6 year old. It's condescending. When they start again the next bite block is fine. Someone screwed up and left something on the first one. Dr. Veltkamp specifically is professional and works quickly.

I have never had braces and it would be rather unusually for me as I am no longer a teenager. I was a bit apprehensive when I must see an orthodontist as you could imagine. My first free consultation visit was most amazing! In my first visit, I have a reserved parking space in front of the office with my first name on the signpost - the first time in my life with such a VIP treatment. I did not have to wait long, and the check-in was exceptionally smooth because my dentist already had forwarded my records to the clinic. Dr. Cummins was soft spoken, patient, and very professional. I had many x-rate pictures on my teeth in every conceivable angles taken and the doctor showed me the pictures when he explained to me what work could be done. I was given several options and the pros and cons of which - he did not advise me for the most expensive ones due to my age and the solution I finally chose was the one I was most comfortable with. This visit was free, and I have no obligation to follow-up with the advice. The next visit was the beginning of the actual work, and it was much better than what I had anticipated. I have minimal inconvenience and could drink and eat with my new braces almost immediately. Better yet no one can tell I have braces unless I smile so I will try to keep my straight face most of the time! The metal braces I chose is much cheaper and sturdier than the more expensive transparent one that the orthodontist did not convince me to get. This is professionalism. All the staff in the clinics were all very friendly and helpful. This is a very well-run clinic, and I will be going back to them in the next 18 months (about 1 and a half years). I will give an update after my treatment is complete. Please accept my sincere appreciation to the doctor and staff for my office visits and safe care I had received so far.

There are some orthos in town who charge a ridiculous amount and do far more work than is needed. We also decided to go the same route as our friend and get 2 opinions. We had our appointment with Dr Cummins today. Our other consult (with another ortho) is in 2 months. That's the soonest we could get in. Score ease of appointments to Dr. Cummins. At our appointment we were greeted with a personalized parking space. My daughter enjoyed that. The staff was friendly and super nice. I found Dr. Cummins to be thorough, have an excellent bedside manner and he explained things really well. We are waiting another 6 months (he didn't recommend immediate action) but I already know we'll come back to see Dr. Cummins. I'm not sure why so many of his reviews are hidden, despite being written by experienced Yelp reviewers. On other websites he has a very favorable rating.

To the Manager who demanded the VA tell me to remove my "Yelp" review saying you didn't deserve it…read more For starters it was a Google review. Secondly you might not feel you deserve it, but you absolutely earned it. I have been in severe pain for months, because of what your employees did. Being that bad at your job, and being called out for it doesn't make you a victim. I've had a broken tooth since March 2026. The VA sent me to Gentle Dental, and this is what happened; -I called the VA, who told me a broken tooth was an Emergency, and sent me to Gentle Dental on March 17. -Gentle Dental told me they didn't have any approval to fix the tooth, and said they sent it in for approval. -After 3 weeks of nothing I called the VA who said they didn't understand, but they would send the approval a second time. -A Month passes due to no openings. -My Second appointment was May 12. I showed up early, and waited. -I watched as the gentleman handled all the tools that were about to go in my mouth with no gloves. Which I'm sure is fine. -They gave me the wrong anesthetic which the "Manager" told me it was some miscommunication on "what the dentist prefer." Which...doesn't make any sense at all to be honest. -They tried to work through it, I kept vocalizing my pain, so they did Anesthetics again...more waiting. -By the time it kicked in I got the feeling they were trying to rush. -MAGICALLY Another issue was found, and low n behold it was the VA's fault yet again that they couldn't help me. -The Dentist stood up, told me I didn't have approval, and told me they were gunna do the temp crown anyway even though they didn't finish their job. -The Dental assistant went to do Xrays. He kinda tossed the Vest on me instead of placing it where it was supposed to go. He fidgeted with the machine, and did the Xray. Then when he was done another Assistant came in, and wiped down THE ENTIRE MACHINE so she could use it. Wanna know what dude didn't do? Wipe down the machine. -This whole time I had been apologizing for taking up their time, and being a burden... -The Temp Crown they gave me clearly did not fit.. So dude asked for help. The woman who came to help did not do her job. I tried to tell her on THREE separate occasions that the opposite side of my mouth wasn't closing, and the teeth on the right side were not touching. I asked her to do the impact test with the tape, and she refused ALL THREE TIMES. She then said "It's probably cause your mouth is numb." -At the end of my appointment I went to make a followup avoid the month wait, but the office workers were not there so the Dental Assistant who refused to do her job earlier decided to help instead. She argued. -On May 19 I called and spoke to the "manager" due to the amount of pain I was in. She informed me that the anesthetic thing was "personal preference." She admitted to me that the Dentist was not asking for proper approvals, which adds to what the VA said which was "The dentist is either ignoring the approvals we send, or isn't asking for the right ones." -She then told me that she would handle the situation personally, and contact the VA cause it was an "Emergency." She said she would keep me informed, and call me back. She made me an appointment for May 21 -She never called me back. -May 20 I called to see if everything from the VA had gone through for my "emergency." The front desk told me "You only have an appointment for a general checkup." She then informed me that they could do as many general checkups as they wanted without VA approval...which is when I started to get suspicious. She told me that she would inform the "manager" that I called, and that I wanted a call back. -She never called back. -I called again on May 21, THE MORNING OF MY APPOINTMENT, to again check to see if everything had gone through cause I didn't want to walk down, and be told to leave again. She told me she had no idea what was going on outside of the general checkup, and didn't understand why the "Manager" never returned my call. -I promptly asked for the appointment to be canceled, because at that point I realized they weren't taking the situation seriously.

They tell you youre paid up and then you get mailed a bill. The staff always blames your insurance for the issues. Its no longer worth the frustration to go there.

And that wasn't the end of the story. The asked me to call and let them know how I was doing and when I hadn't call the ( I didn't believe they were serious, I guess) they called up on me.
