Here are some of the things I like about Dr. Schmidt's office: +All the staff, including Dr. Schmidts, are very friendly. +It is expensive (as it is an orthodontic treatment), but they are pretty transparent about the fees. +They give you a discount if you pay in full (instead of installment). I got a 5% discount for paying cash upfront. As it costs several thousand dollars, 5% actually means something. +Dr. Schmidt's office is across the street/parking lot from my son's dentist, Dr. Piper, which is pretty convenient. When my son has a cleaning appointment at Dr. Piper's office, he goes to Dr. Schmidt's office to take off the wires first. After cleaning at Dr. Piper's office, he goes back to Dr. Schmidt's office to have the wires put back in! I'm pretty happy with all the services they have provided. Any time I'm there in person or I call everyone is friendly and it makes for a really positive experience. In terms of skill, it seems like Dr. Shoff knows exactly what he's doing. And while I'm treatment my regular dentist was involved and behind the scenes they discuss my treatment. When I'm there for an appointment it doesn't matter which assistant I get because they're all awesome! I usually have questions because I'm a curious person and they can answer my questions or they write down the question to ask Dr. Shoff if it's beyond their scope. The awesome thing is that now that I'm done treatment I can still go back. For example, I got a filling on a tooth and my retainer didn't fit right. I was able to make an appointment and get new impressions done and a week later (only because that's how my schedule worked out) I got my new retainers. I highly recommend Dr. Shoff if you're looking into braces! Like I said, he is awesome!

I try to tough it out but two minutes later she's putting blue stuff on each tooth and I'm telling her I can't stand it anymore, it burns. She says "we just sanitize them and rinse them with water" totally disregarding that my mouth is burning, badly. I tell her to TAKE IT OUT. "But we'll have to start all over again." This lady clearly doesn't care that someone left something chemical on this bite block and it's HURTING me. I start to get up at that point and finally she's like "okay okay, one minute" and takes each tool out of my mouth with no haste. I get up and tell her again that it's burning down my throat now, and I need water. She shows me the sink and I proceed to cough and rinse. To top it off, this gal talks to me like I'm a 6 year old. It's condescending. When they start again the next bite block is fine. Someone screwed up and left something on the first one. Dr. Veltkamp specifically is professional and works quickly.

I was assured that because they were directly contracted with my insurance there would be no issues. I was told everything was going to be covered for my first appointment. When I went in for my second appointment a different person at the front desk told me they had made a mistake and none of it was going to be covered. They didn't even get my signature on the faulty quote. I am now being charged over 10X as much as they quoted me. I complained, and there response sounding like they didn't even read my complaint. They said they 'reviewed my x-rays' and would be unable to reimburse me. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and still, they did not address my concerns in any way.
