Nice selection of wines and an even better selection of craft beer. Nice to be able to walk in and get nice knowledgeable recommendations.

Why was this place deserted on a Sunday afternoon? I can't quite figure it out, but it gave me a…read morerare chance to sit and chat with the owner. First off, if anyone remembers the ill-fated Steady Habit Brewing Company in/around Higganum, well, there's no relation. Instead, this is a glorified taproom on the edge of downtown Shelton, near the south-central part of this state we affectionately call The Land of Steady Habits. Minutes from Routes 8 and 34, they serve a wide selection of fine local- and Connecticut-made beers, wines, and spirits, as well as some appetizers and light lunch fare, with a pizza oven waiting to be hooked up as of this writing. I picked a beer from one of my regular Danbury hangouts, Charter Oak Brewing Company. The draft beer tasted just as fresh as if Scott or Michelle had poured it themselves. Steady Habits must keep their beer cold and their tap lines spotless! I don't normally go for a grilled cheese sandwich, but with me not being super-hungry today, I went for it. This seems to be their de facto specialty (for now -- remember, pizza oven being assembled), and I've got to say, it does not disappoint! I ordered it Cuban-style, with ham, pickles, and pepper jack cheese. The ham was missing and the pickles were on the side, but the sandwich quickly went back and returned with the forgotten meat browned and inserted (and comped!) with an honest apology, then I added as many pickles as I wanted and gave the rest to my girlfriend, which she appreciated. I've got to say, that was one of the best grilled cheeses I've had in quite some time! The chips were a nice accompaniment, as fries and beer are a recipe for feeling bloated. There are no paper menus, only QR codes, so don't leave your phone in the car! (Hopefully they have free Wi-Fi for the LTE-challenged. I forget.) On the bright side, their web menu tells you instantly what's on tap and what's kicked! Well-played! The bar service is almost instantaneous when you're the only patrons; not sure how it is when they're packed to their sizable capacity. We were looking for a meal and a beer, so we didn't partake in watching the football game, sitting around a big table with friends, or trying out the arcade games. There aren't any breweries in Shelton, and while Bad Sons in Derby is awesome but seems to be constantly packed, Steady Habits will surely become one of my steady habits whenever my travels take me this way.

Cute little spot to try local drinks. Parking can be a bit tough as they don't have their own lot…read more Menu is pretty limited food wise but they do have a few meals. We snacked on the pretzel bites which tasted like they were microwaved and doused with butter. The server was friendly and checked in often The drink menu is extensive but pretty light on bourbon or whiskey options It's more a wine beer vodka place The flight pours were a good Amt Love music was a nice touch The concrete floors were a bit stained and the bar was sticky The popular popcorn was unavailable for us to try They do take credit card

We came here on a whim because wings sounded exactly like what we wanted. Honestly, we were torn…read morebetween two places, but as soon as I saw the fun, flavor-packed menu, I was sold. This was my first time here, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's a cute little dive bar tucked into the hillside. The parking situation wasn't great, but we found a small lot nearby, so it worked out perfectly. We were greeted right away and sat at the bar. I was surprised there was just a menu for the wings just two full pages--everything sounded so good that choosing was the hardest part. We ended up ordering three different flavors (six wings each). Caramel Soy (my pick): I knew this was going to hit, and it absolutely did. If you've ever had Korean fried chicken with a soy glaze, it had a very similar flavor profile:savory, slightly sweet, super addictive. The best part? It came with a fluffy dipping sauce. So fun. The wings were crispy and tender, easily my favorite of the night. Hot Garlic Butter (my girlfriend's pick): This one leaned more toward a classic buffalo-style sauce. Delicious, with chunks of garlic throughout. Not the most adventurous flavor, but exactly what we needed for a little spice. These wings were more heavily coated, so the skin wasn't quite as crispy, but the flavor held up. Solid 8-9/10. Cilantro Lime Tahini (our mutual pick): A bit out there for wings. I liked the flavor, but it felt better suited for a salad than chicken. Definitely our least favorite, but still not bad. 6.5/10. Overall, we'll be back--I want to try all the flavors!

I thought the parmesan butter bacon garlic sauce would be more of a sauce, but it ended up being more of a spread. Still a solid burger, just different than what I had in mind. For wings, I got the peanut butter and jelly wings, which were served with fluff, and they were so good and so unique. Definitely something I've never had before and absolutely worth trying. My boyfriend ordered the blue cheesy bacon wings, which were good, although they seemed to have no bacon. He also tried the classic hot wings, which were solid as well. I really enjoyed the laid-back vibe here and would definitely come back to try more of their crazy wing flavors -- there are just so many to choose from.
