A good coach/leader leads by example and that's exactly what you see every day at the gym. The TFW team all have full-time jobs outside of the gym and they show up every single day giving their time to help people get better - that should tell you enough about how much they love it and the gyms culture. Coach L.A., Coach Mike, and Coach Parker have decades of martial arts experience and know exactly what they are talking about. They go out of their way to make everyone feel at home in their gym and they know how to create a fun environment that allows you to challenge yourself and learn every day. Regardless of whether you've trained your whole life or are just curious and want to get started, they make you feel welcome and encourage you to push yourself and get better every day. It's rare to find a gym that allows you to strength train (weight training and conditioning classes) and participate in a variety of martial arts classes, all at a reasonable price. Every person who works out or trains at T.F.W. is super friendly and welcoming, making newcomers feel at home on Day 1. Highly recommend Train Fight Win!

After taking my children to a karate studio that they hated, we found Nippon Kan and they love it. They are still active members after more than 10 years. I joined myself and have been a member for 2 years. It is great exercise and helps to integrate your mind, body, awareness and coordination. They have kept dues low to keep it affordable and as I have said the quality and training is excellent!

After searching the internet, I found this traditional Aikido dojo located right here in Denver. We were so impressed with the size - not that size matters, but this dojo is 5 or 6 times bigger than the other small dojos I was considering and having a large mat to practice on allows the kids to flow, run, and move more freely, helping them to perfect their techniques without running into a wall. Also, this dojo wins hands down on perfecting such an authentic traditional feeling that it is like we are literally practicing Aikido in Japan. The quality of the instructors was another reason I ended up taking classes as well. I now have all three of my kids taking Aikido and I recommend it to parents who are interested in a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment with some of the best instructors I have found. Also, the kids classes are so affordable that even parents with larger families can afford to have all the kids taking lessons. The best perk is that this dojo is connected to the best Japanese restaurant in the Nation! We love to eat at Domo right after kids class! I highly recommend Aikido Nippon Kan.

Shifu Chao trained at the Song Shan Shaolin temple from young age, and will help you reach your full martial potential. You also have the opportunity to apply the theory in application drills in addition to all of your mabu, kicks, and forms. On the money side, I sometimes travel a lot for my work, so I would say this school is very understanding of these real world situations and extends out the term of your contract an equivalent amount of time, so you don't "lose" the training time on your contract. The class format - for good reason - is not like in China, where every student (could be hundreds or more) is learning the same forms together (the forms here are organized by belt level). As a result, the correct mechanics of the form are taught first, then technically refined over time once those have been demonstrated properly. In this way, all students can progress without taking up the whole class for just one form instruction. Also, very importantly, Shifu is always watching your body mechanics, stance, hand/feet position and work, point toe, etc. every step of the way and will call it out if incorrect or needs adjustment. This continuous feedback loop and attention to detail is critical for student's improvement. If you are interested in learning the Shaolin arts, look no further than Denver Shaolin Kung fu Academy. You will not regret it. Prepare to have fun!

Great group, friendly non intimidating and they teach techniques that work. I say techniques that work based on personal experience. I was very much into the martial arts when I was in middle school. A decade later, after not doing anything in the martial arts, while in college I had to defend myself twice. The same type of technique worked and I ended both attacks without having to throw a single punch. I benefit from exercising in a social class environment. In my 30's I tried to find a martial arts school that I could enjoy going to. Many of the schools I briefly tried were either too strict or intense. I feel lucky to have found this school. I'm now in my 50's and they are mindful of who I am and what I can do. The classes have young to old and everybody fits in, has a good work out and an enjoyable time. Most classes, I find myself being taught high ranking members that have been coming to the school for decades. Very respectful of all members and understanding that our western culture is different from Japan.
