And a dentist there got very upset that my teen daughter wouldn't talk to her and took it personal. My daughter suffers from anxiety. I thought this was petty coming from a pediatric doctor... Typically I only see him about twice a year, and luckily haven't had to go in for any major dental work or procedures. All of the assistants and hygienists that I have had have all been lovely and very accommodating. I think I usually see Lindsay, but Bria is also great. I have unreasonably large tonsils, so anytime I go in for a dental cleaning it can be a bit difficult for me to breathe. I find I have to take a lot of quick breaks for a breath or swallow. They are always so kind and offer to go as slow as needed. I also really appreciate when a hygienist isn't heavy handed when scraping and cleaning my teeth prior to polishing. The office is clean, and front desk staff is helpful and diligent when making future appointments. They always leave you with a new toothbrush, floss and toothpaste to take home with you which I always love to use when traveling. Thank you Grady Dental Care!

Most of the time, we do wait 10-15 minutes after our scheduling appointment time to be called back. At times we do feel rushed, but the kids do get their X-rays done and my kids have very healthy teeth. We also got my son off sucking his thumb from this practice in 2-3 months after sucking his thumb for almost 3 years. Pre-covid the waiting room and waiting area inside was fun with games and light walls, but now they are limited. They have a prize wall too, after the kids' appointment. The seating arrangement for cleaning and consult is mainly chairs in a circle in 1 large room, so hygienists and dentists can move around. There are a couple of closed-off rooms for multiple kids and run-over.

He said one thing the first visit and a totally different thing this time. He's all over the place. I will find a kind and competent dentist that listens to medical concerns. And by the way, I have friends and family who have left the practice since Dr Owen took over, because of some of the same things I am sharing now. When I contacted the office they let me know that Dr Owens is the only dentist that is still there (guess all the other dentists that used to work there left) and they would be happy to schedule an appointment for me but then they would have to refer me out anyway because Dr Owens can't do the same dental procedures that Dr Jackson and Dr Kang did when they were there. Why would they leave doctors on their website that aren't working there anymore? If they can't even keep their website updated, can I trust them with my dental care? I had heard great things about this office but since Dr Jackson retired and sold his business things have changed a lot and not for the better.

The key to helping her through her appointments is informed consent, and giving her time to process the presented information and feel her feelings, which is typical for many autistic people. This accommodation typically takes 10 minutes, and has been respected by many of her other doctors. When we took her to Dentistry For Children to have her spacer, which is causing significant pain, removed, the dentist instructed us to lie to our child about needing a shot for the numbing agent, and to instead surprise her. Our child has gotten shots before and, as we firmly believe that children are people who deserve to be told the truth of what will happen to their bodies, we attempted to explain the process to her. The dentist continued to interrupt and speak over us, trying to convince our child that she would not be receiving a shot, while explaining that they prefer to use "more child friendly terms" like "sleepy juice" and they would "hide" the needle so our child wouldn't be aware that she was getting a shot. Personally, I prefer to know if I will be stuck with a needle, and I know my child does as well. Furthermore, our child is 6, not 2, and is difficult to surprise without a dramatic response. After explaining that we would not lie to our child, the dentist left and we were asked to come back that Friday, when the dentist would have more time to talk it over & explain to our child what was happening. We spent the next day or two explaining the procedure to our child as it had been explained to us. On the day of the appointment, despite having been told we would have more time, we were rushed, introduced to a tool that none of us had been aware of which panicked our child, and when I tried to ask the dentist what the tool was, I was asked to leave the room. It seems clear to me that I was my child's loudest advocate and the dentist was looking to remove opposition, but 3 minutes later they urgently requested my return as my child was now even more upset, before cancelling the procedure entirely. We were recommended to reach out to the DDD, an autistic-friendly facility, but they were unable to accept new patients for 7 months, which is not plausible given the amount of pain the spacer is causing her. When we contacted Dentistry For Children again to request another attempt, we were told the dentist would not see her period. I feel entirely gutted, disrespected, & uncomfortable that this dentist office lies to children about medical procedures, refuses to see disabled patients, and ignores a parent's expertise about their own child. If you can, find your child a different doctor.

I went to Sawnee right before COVID. I was told Dr. Lee would take on difficult tasks. I had a…read morebridge in the front of my upper teeth that had broken leaving parts of three posts. He said he could fix it if he could get the posts out. He used something that hammered like a mini jackhammer. After 3 hrs. of hammering, he finally got them out. He looked at his assistant and said, "it won't work." He walked out without saying a word to me. His assistant walked out without a word and came back with about a 5,000 dollar estimate for a four tooth bridge. I paid 300 dollars for the vibration, plus 90 dollars for the initial visit. I left and the next day a four tooth bridge in the top rear fell out because it was loosened by the vibrations. Now after several years of barely being able to eat one of the broken teeth from the vibrations is abscessed and I am searching for somewhere to get relief.
