David and her staff are professional, kind, and great at communication. Dr. David offers a safer and more natural option to expanding the dental arch called an ALF. We interviewed several orthodontists before who wanted to install a harsh palatal expander because they had no training with the ALF. She understands lip and tongue ties and how they affect the development of the arch. I wish every dentist took the time and got the training to learn these things! I called my insurance (I have an HMO plan) and canceled my appointment. Dr. David is a considered a priviliged provider, so the consultation fee they said they won't submit to insurance should be submitted to insurance because an HMO patient with an authorization from their PCP would only have to pay the co-pay amount for their visit. A quick online search said TMJ appliances range from $750-$3,000, yet the other reviews mention her office is trying to charge $5,000. No, thank you. I'll pass. read more

I was never told that I needed a referral until after my first appointment. Before I decided to continue with scans I had asked about my insurance coverage. In which they mentioned that my insurance was in network and typically covers half the cost at minimum. They took X-rays and scans of my mouth and proceeded to tell me that I either had to pay for my scans out of pocket with no insurance claim or pay out of pocket for the entire 3-6 month treatment, where they would later send a claim to insurance after a referral was sent over. So I paid thousands of dollars out of pocket and called my doctors office to send over a referral. After much back and forth, it was discovered that Dr. David's office is not in network unlike what was previously mentioned, in which all claims were denied. I was not informed until after the claim deadline, losing all out of pocket payment, that I was told I would get back as well as the continuing of the original problem I went there for. read more

Excellent experience! We were in during November for my son's lip/tongue ties. We had numerous bad experiences with other providers on this issue prior to coming to this office. The RI pediatric dentist was full and couldn't take new patients, The RI ENT said the ties don't exist, our RI pediatrician was skeptical, The CT pediatric dentist couldn't be bothered to come in the room for the eval but would've done a lip tie. Dr. Kaplan was THE best. He reviewed my son's medical history with me thoroughly. He performed an examination with a camera and showed me the ties on the screen. He explained the condition and procedures in great detail. He spent a lot of time with us and I am so thankful for that. We had the procedure done it was quick and while "scary" my son was comfortable during and after the procedure and having it performed has made a HUGE difference in our nursing experience. It was also super helpful that they have a lactation consultant on hand to help after the procedure and provide guidance. She was wonderful! I'm so glad we found Dr. Kaplan. He found 5 ties in my son's mouth and solved the mystery of his inability to latch. I am still nursing my son after 8 months and all of our nursing issues were resolved thanks to his frenectomy. I regret not having found him sooner as I had a similar issue with my first born and had to give up on nursing him after 6 weeks. I recommend Dr. Kaplan to anyone who is having issues with lip/tongue ties especially nursing moms! read more

Lied about my insurance being in network. Myself and my 5 children started our plan and treatment. I received a bill for a thousand dollars for a crown, I had the temporary done, I asked upon paying if I owed anymore. To which I was told no. Then of course, came in for the permanent crown and was asked to pay another 300+ dollars. I asked why without a clear answer and refused to pay. I had 2 kids that had fillings, I paid 500+ out of pocket. They told me it was because I didn't satisfy that. I called after receiving a paper bill which again was ambiguous as to why I owed. I paid them because they could absolutely ruin my credit, but I was sure to let them know I wasn't happy. This dentist office is shady, they lied about my insurance and I believe I was over billed because of that I wouldn't recommend them. I'm sure they will say well we can't know for sure how much your insurance will pay but in network care is far less expensive then out of network care and I was told by them they were happy to accept and are in network with my insurance. So there it is, find another dentist. This one is shady. read more

I'll preface this by stating that I only received a TMJ consult with Dr. David, and elected not to enter her practice for treatment. Her office was well-lit, clean, and a luxurious massage chair was a thoughtful touch. It was also the first indicator that treatment wasn't going to be affordable. Rather than provide an in-depth description of my consult, I'll just say that while I'm sure Dr. David is a skilled physician, but in my experience I didn't fell we had good rapport. I honestly felt more like I was at a car dealership than a doctor's office, and was being upsold. My PCP referred me to Dr. David for TMJ. I was told by Dr. David's receptionist when I was booking the appointment that dental insurance didn't cover TMJ, but that my medical insurance could cover it. During my consult with Dr. David, I was told that HMOs are considered out of network, and I was going to have to pay out of pocket. The initial consult was $100, which if you decided to move forward with treatment could be applied to your second diagnostic visit for $600. I'm not exactly sure whether that $600 was in addition to or included in the price of the appliances for the top and bottom jaw, but I was told that the appliances were between $4500-$5500. I never would have kept this appointment had I known that their treatment and appliances for TMJ were going to cost thousands of dollars, and wish the receptionists were more upfront about potential expenses. However, even if money was not an issue, I think I'd look for other TMJ specialists in Boston on Worcester before returning to Dr. David's office. I'm not saying that Dr. David is not a good doctor or that she doesn't care about her patients, but I felt more like I was at a car dealership than a doctor's office. In the words of the great capitalist JP Morgan, "If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it." Hopefully you don't have to ask how much it costs. read more

Fine for regular cleaning but she will pressure you to come every 3months. Also, be aware of the major medical (not dental) diagnosis for everything from why you stopped growing to the reason for your daily muscle aches and pains. Follow that with huge up-selling in sleep study, surgery and more. Dr David is clearly an educated woman but should have followed her passion in sleep study rather than general dentistry. read more

I was looking for a new Holistic dentist for some major work I needed a root canal, I know an implant would have been best but a couldn't afford it. They have a laser and ozone technique that I decided would be safer than a normal root canal so I called them. I was in pain and they got me in quickly. Reception was wonderful and explained everything thoroughly, including costs of both implant or the laser/ozone root canal, they checked on my insurance etc. I knew my costs up front. the root canal went as well as a root canal can go. Several days later I went for the crown. The girl who set me up was great, and the Dr Alford did a wonderful job. I was impressed that they make a perfect crown right there while I waited and she made sure it was adjusted perfectly, that was yesterday and I can't even tell today, no soreness, perfect bite. read more

After reading Lisa's review I felt compelled to write my own review. I have been going to this practice for 20 years. The original practitioners sold the business and Dr. David inherited the name of the practice Bolton Dental. The services she provides have expanded over the original name and the current name reflects more of what she actually offers. Lisa's claim that it is a shoddy practice using fictitious names is simply garbage and a distortion of reality. This is a state of the art practice and has a specialty in progressive ways to treat issues such as sleep apnea. I have ALWAYS gotten a printed estimate of my expected costs. read more

I was amazed as the charisma of the staff members from the office desk to the hygienist to the TMJ specialist Dr. David who did make me sleep better. I couldn't take the breathing machine at night and Dr. David make a mouth piece that helps me sleep at night without the clenching. I am so happy and full of energy that I even started exercising. I've been going to Dr. David for years and she runs a great practice. Everyone is very friendly and professional and I've never had any discomfort during any procedures there. A little background here: I was going to a plaza/chain dentist operation beforehand and was dissastisfied with some of their work (bad filling, got a massive cavity underneath in less than a year, they basically said I was out of luck). I am extremely happy with this office. Everyone has always been so kind and careful with me and my kids. Nicole is a sweetheart, I enjoy so much talking to her every time I come to the office. Hygienists are amazing, both of them. The assistants are very helpful, they really make me feel like home. Lastly, Dr. David is the smartest woman I have ever met in my life. I am very thankful that she came into my life. My newborn baby was having so much trouble with the lip tie so I called Dr. David and she saw him right away. He ended up having frenulum release. Dr. David and her staff are extremely unorganized, make clients wait for 30-45 minutes after their scheduled appointment times, violate HIPPA regulations by leaving computers unlocked with client information viewable and accessible while clients are alone in rooms, and fail to follow through on the services they promise to their clients. There are far more trustworthy dentist and TMJ offices located in Bolton and surrounding towns. I saw this dentist for TMJ problems. Initially $4,000 seemed the price I would have to accept to get rid of a 9 month jaw pain. On their consent forms treatment failure was referred to as "rare" and "uncommon." The doctor never went over any concerns that I should have related to their treatment plan. But, after carefully following their protocol of 12 weeks wearing a device that pushed my lower jaw down so that my back teeth no longer meet and a 5 week weaning process that was supposed to leave me with back teeth well on their way to meeting and generally feeling better, I developed a much more profound pain than the one that initially drove me to try the whole thing. At that point I was told that there was a 70% success - 30% failure rate, never before mentioned (!) Now my options are to wear this damn thing for the rest of my life or get all my lower teeth crowned for $20,000 to $30,000. I don't think she really knows what she is doing. read more
