In the US you are paying for the dentist's insurance, liability, rent and US employee salary. My biggest beef is the insurance that is so high as the result of excessive malpractice payouts that just get subsidized onto the US dentist's insurance policy and ultimately on your bill. Apart from the overhead US dentist have to pay the implant systems that are make in Switzerland or Germany have different price points depending on the region. My brother-in-law is an dental surgeon in Mex City and he says that Mexico and South America are the same price point. Western Europe and the states are a different price point for the same product. My wife had work done on both side and the quality and professionalism is the same if you do your homework. Anyway, back to my story. So the implant dentist across the street sent me down for 3-D imaging which was around $40. If you did the same thing in the US it would be around $300. Anyway, he was going to receive this imagery then set me up with a periodontist during the week. I work during the week and weekends are my best time to get mouth work done. So, when I was done and back on the street, I went on my phone just to see if there were other options for a 2nd opinion nearby. So sure enough, Medina Dental was open on that Saturday and I went in. In 30 minutes, he was looking at my x-rays and telling me what the game plan needs to be. Pull out three teeth, do bone grafts in those areas since my jaw bone lost some bone, then do implants. The closer on the deal was that he would bring in the periodontist into his office and do the work on a Saturday. No way I was floored, sign me up and how much. So, it all began a couple of years ago and I write them with a mouth full of teeth and they are straight. I went for the braces also which slowed things down about a year since I wanted everything straight prior to the implants. I do not remember what the pricing for everything was so you will need to call and talk to Tanya for pricing. On the implants I went with the zirconium and the install system is pretty hi-tech. Toward the end of the treatment, I was going in during covid times and they were in full haz-mat garb and every time I went in, I received body temperature, sanitizing of shoes, and hands. They were on it. There is a paid parking garage next door to the dentist office, they close around 2PM on Saturdays. Now I have Sentri for the car so coming back over was always around 20 minutes in line crossing. I am in Tijuana on a monthly bases for other chores of mine so the dentist stop was just one of a few stops. I would highly recommend getting a Sentri pass if you plan on going down there more than a few times in a six month period. If you do opt for the general line for crossing bring your patience and set you radio dial to 102.5FM Fusion. They have a good salsa program on Saturday's in the afternoon. Also on Sunday's at noon is my weekly latin jazz program Picadio Jam with Prof. Andres Rosales. Mi programa obligada semanalimente. You can find it online here in the states. OK so if you want to make it a day here are some ideas for food and health. Visit the open air market, Mercado Hidalgo which is located over on the next block. Pedicure for women is a must in Mex. I came in to get my wisdom teeth removed along with an overlay, and I was pretty nervous at first, but the entire team made me feel so comfortable and taken care of. I requested to be fully knocked out for the procedure, which I couldn't recommend more with someone who has anxiety going to the dentist. In total for a full exam, x ray, cleaning, wisdom teeth removal, and overlay, I paid $1500. Dr. Lopez is incredibly knowledgeable and truly impressive--he took the time to explain everything in a way that made me feel confident and at ease. You can tell he's extremely skilled and genuinely cares about his patients. The procedures went smoothly, and the quality of work exceeded all my expectations. The clinic itself is clean, professional, and very well run. I was honestly blown away by how much better the overall experience was compared to dentists I've been to in California--not just in terms of cost, but especially the level of care and expertise. I would highly recommend Dr. Alvarez's office and Dr. Lopez to anyone considering dental work. I'll definitely be coming back! In her presence, I get the impression that she is supremely competent at what she does. Indeed, I believe I would trust her with my life! My last implant went in over 6 months ago so I have had plenty of time to evaluate them and I absolutely love them! I have had ZERO problems and they are incredibly comfortable and strong. I was in between plans so I was fortunate to be able to travel to TJ and they value it in my tooth and it was so cracked that I couldn't just get it repaired instead they had to pull it and put it in implant. It was taken care of that day with meticulous care. I know the dentist has a very high-level of attention to detail, which I really appreciated. I am going to go back in April to have the crown completed. I was there for several hours as they did a lot of work to evaluate my tooth then pull the cracked tooth and place the implant. There is genuinely not the words in either the English or Spanish dictionary to describe the…read moreabsolutely HORRIBLE HORRIFIC TERRIBLE job that was done at this clinic. I was given 4 Front Teeth Crowns, giving the Dentist valuable information about my dental history including the fact all 4 front teeth were FRAGILE because of a previous accident and all 4 having root canals. The first incident was when she was working on my teeth (shaving them down) her husband barged into the room and spoke to her right while I was under the table. So unprofessional!! He then starts openly harassing her asking how much longer and that he had the car waiting. She immediately started rushing and did a horrible job putting in my teeth temporary covers "temporary crown" that was made from a mold of my natural teeth before she shaved them down. The mold was jagged and painful to my teeth and gums for several days but I endured because they were only temporary until my crowns would be put in. The second Incident was when she was doing my X-rays she did not offer me the Lead cover to protect my thyroid from the X-Ray Gamma Rays. It was only provided the cover the following appointment when I asked for it. The third incident occurred when she was taking off my temporary Crown Cover (mind you this thing is all one mold) She once again seemed like she was in a hurry and rushed to take it off and in the process Snapped off a large chunk of my natural Tooth!! Also these things are already tiny since that is how they are prepped for Crowns. I felt the pressure and extreme discomfort from her mutilating my tooth and her response was ohh I bet your gums hurt that's normal. I immediately protested that my tooth WAS NOT CHIPPED BEFORE! To which she immediately starts change the subject and put my Crowns on to try. When I see these crowns I almost burst into tears of RAGE. They looked like pieces of square gum from the store. All one color completely not natural, and a florescent White. Again I begin protesting that this was NOT what I asked for that these were horrible. I also told her I had a flight to catch and wasn't sure this could be fixed in time. She assured me it could be! And she proceeded to fix the "little channel" she made on my tooth NO YOU SNAPPED PART OF MY TOOTH OFF CALL IT WHAT IT IS!! And once again a fake mold was placed on my teeth in the interim. She assured me the crowns would be fixed and sent them back to the lab. 2 hours later the crowns were back!' Fourth Incident. Similar to the third once again... what is the point of the molds? To protect the teeth right!? THEN TELL ME WHY ALL OF MY TEETH WERE CRACKED THIS TIME!!! At this point I was fed up and just wanted my crowns on and to not miss my flight that would cost me over $700 in Airfare and personal costs if I missed it. Fifth incident I agree to the crowns being better because I was convinced that turning the light overhead on would make them "look worse than they are" THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY FIRST RED FLAG when she didn't want to turn that light on. I got them cemented out of anxiety and frustration. What other options did I have at this point!?! Get another fake mold and lose the 10% of my teeth I have left? I got the crowns on and told her there was gapping behind my Most left tooth my tongue could feel, she just said she's polish it but it wasn't fixed I can still feel the gapping. I also told her my teeth feel tight and uncomfortable. She said it was normal and would go away. It has not gone away my teeth that should have no feeling HURT!' So crowns are CEMENTED. I asked to use the bathroom at this point where I turned on the Circle Vanity Mirror. My heart immediately sank when I saw my new teeth were significantly different than my natural Teeth. Still looking awful although improved. At this point I was DONE. I was defeated and so genuinely AFRAID. I was scared for what was left of my teeth and decided to accept the consequences of my actions. The outside of the building was enough to tell me this place was not good! I didn't listen to my gut! Please don't make the same mistake. I vowed I wouldn't let these horrendous people touch my teeth even again and left in tears after paying in full for my treatment. I will be finding a new dentist to fix the horrible job they did on my teeth. Please pray for me. I need it.

But dr Ricardo was amazing and actually managed to fix the issue and save the tooth from root canal. I am truly grateful and loved the staff and all I met there. My friend just accompanied me as it was my first time going to Tijuana and walking in and she lives nearer in San Diego and does trips there more frequently. She ended up getting a cleaning and night guards the same day-- gratefully they could fit her in around my appointment. It was such an excellent experience for both of us! Highly recommended. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptionally well organized. They picked us up in a beautiful, air conditioned vehicle, provided secure underground parking, complimentary water, and welcomed us into an immaculate clinic on the 11th floor with a gorgeous outdoor patio where companions can relax while waiting. The office was spotless--easily one of the cleanest medical facilities I've ever visited. According to my friend the doctor was outstanding, explaining everything clearly and making my friend feel completely at ease. Considering it was dental work, there was surprisingly little discomfort throughout the procedure. I've visited plenty of medical and dental offices over the years, and BioDental Care delivers a level of service that rivals--or exceeds--many practices in the United States.
