I went to Dental Pros as a new patient for an exam with cleaning and X-rays. The front desk was so kind and helpful, Bonnie was informative of all the prices and costs before charging any payments! The other two receptionists were supportive and helped me with accurately filling out the paperwork. All of the Dental Hygienist were thorough in the cleanings and the Dentist himself was as splendid. He offered tips on how to do proper dental care at home and was mindful of all the costs and concerns associated with treatments to ensure you were not paying an insane amount for the visit! Front desk folks are professional and kind. I appreciate their confirmation calls and walking le through the estimates before anything happens. Office equipment uses modern technology. Their X-rays are great- incorporating AI, helping enhance the data visuals. Dr. Arjun Kaul takes pride in his work and takes the time to walk you through options. His assistants help speed things along by prepping the area and taking on some of the work as well. As expected some assistants are new and learning and occasionally may make very minor errors here and there but Dr. Arjun is very quick to catch anything, demonstrate best practices and set things right again. In my case, I got major work done recently since I could'nt afford dental work for a few years. Dr Arjun spotted a gum infection and dead tooth. He put me on antibiotics for two weeks which has helped heal my gums by alot and he then cleaned up the tooth and crowned the tooth. He used proper lighting to ensure the color matched my other teeth and had me bite on blue dye to. ensure the bite was even. I had to go back because the crown still needed to be leveled Which he then fixed perfectly and quickly. The operation was a huge investment for me but I am very pleased with the progress and results. They stress preventative care and give you the information you need for success. Terrible dentist. First of all the dentist legit harassed me and told me inappropriate things while in the dental chair and his assistant was there and just walked away so that shows the culture of this place but second of all they try to force root canals on you. I got 2 root canals done here and they gave me improperly fitting crowns and didn't tell me until i went to another dentist and I was told the crowns have gaps. I went there for multiple x rays after the crown placement and Dental Pros never told me about the gap in my crown placement. And third of all the dentist who harassed me wanted to do a root canal on one of my other teeth saying i have small teeth and he cant fix it I went to another dentist (the same dentist who told me i have an improperly fitted crown) and they were able to fix the broken filling. Cuz it was just a broken filling. This is a shady dentist office with a terrible office culture. They do not care about the health of patients teeth. They only want to do root canals so they can get money. Money hungry creepy staff! The dentist legit harassed me for like 5 minutes when he was supposed to be showing me my X-Rays! I came in with tooth pain and I stated I needed a root canal. I advised Dr. Kaul what the previous dentist had told me I am not an expert I cannot read X-rays but apparently neither can Dr. Kaul. He was very disrespectful. Instead of helping me he belittled me and asked if I needed someone who spoke Spanish. If I am speaking to you in English why would I need a Spanish translator. I never once spoke Spanish. Is just because I look Mexican? He just wanted me to point at the tooth and that's it. I am not the expert. But neither is he. Long story short, go somewhere else. I had a very similar 1 star experience as Hope and Joe. I went in to Dental Pros with my first cavity ever at 40 yrs of age. I had medium pain but nothing unbearable. They offered me a cleaning on the spot for $40 out of pocket which I gladly took. I was then told that I needed root canal at $2400. The crazy thing is I have insurance and they were my primary provider. Lol I had a long back and forth with my insurance company and the Pros regarding the true out of pocket amount. Once my insurance approved the procedure I followed up with the Pros to schedule a date, however, for some odd reason, my file had not progressed their billing process. Mind you, this was 4 months after my initial visit. Good thing I wasn't in serious pain. I went to another dentist on Hillhurst. These "Pros" spent a full year telling me they'd call me to schedule a wisdom tooth extraction. When I pressed the issue they finally put it on the books and sent me multiple confirmation texts, the most recent being the night before, and when I showed up they told me that the specialist simply wasn't in. I pointed out the multiple confirmations and the fact that I'd taken 3 days off work to recover, and they literally told me that the confirmations were "for the appointment", not for the specialist. I'm lucky enough to have a good job with sick days, but if I weren't I'd have lost a ton of money. Be warned - they're fine for dental cleanings, but the front desk is clueless. I've been coming here for years because it's near home and while the staff has always been good, I feel they are very good now. Edna at the front is very approachable and helps very well with questions and concerns. Marina, the hygienist is no nonsense when it comes to your care and I could tell that she has very skilled hands as she cleaned my teeth. Dr. Shoff, (rhymes with cough) assured me that my yearly check in was just like visiting a mechanic and they recommend an oil change, which in my case a couple of fillings were recommended and I was taken care of on the same day. I told her I could not wait to document this day in my diary, well in this case Yelp. In seriousness, I can tell that the staff cares much and is raising their own bar for customer service and client care. read more

I came in for a cracked crown. I have Medi-Cal and after my X-rays I had a long conversation with the receptionist about how it could take a while to get my procedure cleared. A tech came in, did some sort of polish on my teeth, used a pick to pick at a few teeth, then covered my teeth in a fluoride paste. And that was it. I was sent home, didn't get a cleaning, didn't get anything done to the crown. The claim was denied twice, and I had no recourse. Glad my new job's insurance kicked in now. This place and it's whole staff are so unpleasant . For my first visit, I had to wait over an hour WITH an appointment to even be seen only to waste another 30-40 minuets to have only x-rays taken. They did not even do my teeth cleaning... which was the purpose of the whole visit because they wanted to deal with my one cavity and the cleaning at one time and had to reschedule me... On the day my appointment is rescheduled for, the office is mysteriously CLOSED. Zero notice or voicemail left to warn me. AWFUL place with truly CARELESS and petty receptionists. I really wanted this place to work out they seemed so nice at first and the second male dentist I saw seemed to do a thorough job but after going in for terrible tooth pain I received a filling that did not work. Called on a Saturday to try to get seen immediately but they said they'd "call the doctor" and get back to me, they never did. The pain subsided after a few days and I had work so I just risked it, until a couple weeks later I was in pain again and scheduled an appointment, at the spot they then told me that it was done improperly and needed to be re-done I asked if I needed to pay because it was their fault she said no but they don't normally do this because it's been almost a month and crickets, I said I called on a Saturday and she said "we have no record" and argued with me in a very condescending tone as if I was lying? They did the procedure again without payment as a "courtesy this one time" and said if it doesn't work I'll need a root canal. Fast forward to today when I have an appointment booked for a root canal somewhere else because this dentist couldn't see me soon enough (and didn't give me a referral or prescription or anything to help me get out of pain) I have to call to get a referral and the receptionist argues with me the entire time, so belittling and condescending and talking over every single word I had to say. It was so so unprofessional, immature, and down right petty, the lack of care was obvious. I could not get one word in and I kept saying I have been trying to get help I am in awful pain it has been literal months, and she said "well I don't know about months" but it was .. two months. Is that something you say to a patient who is looking for help? Is that something you say in a professional setting at all? Is there an honest dentist in this town? I went here and got the crappiest teeth cleaning of my life. I waited 20 minutes to get x-rays, waited another 20 minutes for the dentist to check my teeth and tell me I had no cavities, then another 20 minutes for them to basically just brush my teeth. All they did was use that wax very lightly on my teeth and didn't scrape anything. They kept telling me "keep doing whatever you're doing" because I had no cavities, but are they trying to give me a shitty teeth cleaning to give me them? Basically over an hour for a shotty 10 minute job. I also went there last year and they tried to sell me some receding gum surgery that wasn't under my insurance but it cost like over $1,000. They really tried to pressure me and then this visit -- no mention of it. I don't trust them and I will NOT be going to this dentist anymore. read more

They're a huge mess. My insurance approved a surgery and they didn't tell me until about 7 months later and after the authorization expired. We got it approved again and I was told over the phone very clearly multiple times that if I wanted to do the part of the surgery that insurance doesn't pay for, it would cost me $700 for my portion. They had previously been a disaster before with telling me accurate prices so this time I made extra sure to get it right. "So it's $700 total for me out the door, right?" "Yes." I asked them that several times just to make sure. "Yes." So I take off work for today and I get there. "The price is $1200." I only stuck with them because they're so close to me, but we're done now. They're either extremely disorganized or they're trying to scam people. I can't decide which one it is. read more

WORST place ever! My mother was referred to this dentist by medi-cal, she needed upper and lower dentures. Once at the their office, they tell me medical won't cover, they offered to apply for a credit card. When they saw I got approved, they began the work on my mom. One year and 6,000 later, the lower bridge that was done, FELL off! My mom was in so much pain, took her to another dentist...it turned out she had a massive infection. Dr Gary saw me when another doctor was unavailable, and he did a great job. He worked quickly, explained what the risks were, and what he was going to do, and he was very friendly throughout.
