I had the worst and most painful experience at this dentist, hands down. My nightmare began when I came in just to have a simple filling replaced. After the first visit, I actually felt relieved, thinking the issue was resolved--until the anesthesia wore off and I realized they had left the hole in my tooth completely open. They never even refilled the filling I originally came in for. I went back, and to my shock, they said the tooth needed to be extracted--even though it was fully functional, not infected, and had zero pain. After a lot of convincing, they finally agreed to leave my healthy tooth alone and actually replaced the filling like they should have in the first place. But then, they told me I needed a root canal on the tooth next to it. I was confused because I had no pain in that tooth at all. I even took a photo of the X-rays they showed me. They were pushing for multiple root canals, but my insurance would only cover one. As soon as the insurance approval came through, they rushed me in for the root canal--and that's when the real nightmare started. The procedure lasted two and a half agonizing hours. Dr. Catalina Medencevic, who performed the root canal, had an extremely rough hand, constantly stretching my lips painfully wide with no care or warning. There was no communication whatsoever. At one point, when I was visibly crying from the pain, she coldly said, "Oh, you're crying?" It felt dismissive and almost mocking. She wouldn't tell me what she was doing, how long it would take, or offer any comfort. She kept rushing in and out of the room, juggling other patients, clearly in a hurry. I remember the assistant saying, "Now we kill the nerve," and what followed was the worst pain of my life. My entire body was shaking and moving in the seat while they did it. I could feel everything--it was unbearable. If the X-rays had been properly explained to me, I never would've agreed to the procedure. Later, I got a second opinion and showed the new dentist the X-rays I had photographed--and it turned out I didn't even need the root canal. The procedure was done to prevent a possible future issue, not to treat anything active. To make matters worse, there was constant miscommunication between the front desk staff. Every time I called or came in, I got different information about appointments, payments, and follow-ups. No one seemed to be on the same page. I would absolutely not recommend this place. Dr. Catalina Medencevic and the rest of this office made what should've been a routine dental issue into a traumatic experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. If you're reading this, please head my warning and stay far away. read more

I've been waiting on this appointment forever. I've let them know that I work Monday through Thursday. I'm off on Friday Saturday Sunday and all they have to do was schedule me on the days that I'm off because it's hard for me to call off and I'm on low income so I need all my hours and I let let her know that I cannot make it that I will try to make it. She did not tell me that if I canceled my appointment the same day it would be $55 and I cannot make an appointment be until I pay that $55 no I don't have $55. I'm on Medicare and I'm on low income. That's why I'm there trying to get my teeth fixed before the infection spread that was unprofessional. I'm very sad that I wasted all of time and gas and energy to go and put in Doctor Office to trust them with the procedure that I needed to save my life and they do not care they want $55 and never told me upon me making an appointment that she called to make it for me. I let her know when she called me that I can try to call off. I can't call off my job. Didn't have no one to cover my shift. I needed my job i'm so upset that I have to go and find another dentist office to do the procedures that I already started with this office. I do not recommend them. They do not care about your health and they don't explain every time you make an appointment. They don't explain that she telling me it's a document before I have signed. I came in recently for my wisdom teeth surgery, and I have nothing but great things to write about. Take it from somebody who is here literally every month :) Parking: No need to worry about it! There's plenty. Covid safety: Office is always clean. Safety protocols such as temperature checks, condition checklists, and social/seating distancing are strictly enforced. Staff: ALL the staff here are polite, caring, and friendly - from phone calls to in-person visits. The dentists, dental assistants, and managers (Claudia and Cynthia) are all knowledgeable and kind! Price: I know that it varies for patients and each dental situation, but I am satisfied with my payments. Claudia helped me set up my payment plans and she arranged my insurance. Wisdom teeth surgery experience: Dr. Shanna was the one who did my wisdom teeth surgery. She was gentle, caring, and she constantly checked up on me throughout the procedure. This place was OK. I arrived at 3pm but they weren't able to see me until 3:30, which was alright because I'm a rather patient person. I saw some other not-too-chipper folks in there, probably not as patient as me. One big turn-off was this kiosk they set up outside to draw people inside. I dunno, it was pretty creepy. I think it was supposed to be a Hawaiian hut or something.... tacky. ANYWAY, not something I'd want to see as I'm going in to see if I want to put the livelihood of my teeth in their hands. The only thing I loved about the place was I got a check-up with x-rays for $10 (probably why they set Hawaii up outside to get people in for a tenner) and that's about $80 cheaper than other places doing the same exact thing. Dr. Lim was good at explaining all the work I needed done and even called me the next day to check in on me. I haven't had a dentist call me for a follow-up in... hmmm, never? So thanks, Doc. The admin lady in the back was stern but nice. I forget her name but she gave me nice little fake-teeth demonstrations of how bridges and implants work. She also goes out of her way to find out all kinds of prices and possibilities for your chompers. The prices (if you don't have insurance) are pretty YIKES though, so LIM!! Highly recommend this dental office! I've had very positive experiences since I started coming here and see myself coming here for as long as I live in LA! The front desk is very professional and friendly. They're always helpful and very polite. I always get a response for any questions I have and they always answer the office phone. The dentists are amazing here as well. Dr. Shanna was super friendly on my first visit and I thoroughly enjoyed being there. Moreover, Dr. Lim himself called me to wish me happy birthday! If that's not the friendliest and sweetest thing from a dental office, I don't know what is! Most importantly, they **take their time to check your insurance coverage**. They read and really work with the insurance company to ensure I get the best coverage which can't be said about a lot of places in LA that overcharges patients that might not know better. That is good business practice! The dental work is great and very efficient. They don't wait forever after the appointment time to see you which I really appreciate with a busy schedule. The office space is clean and they take COVID precautions. Each chair also comes with a TV that has Netflix on it, you can pick whatever show you want to watch :) This place is amazing! I highly recommend it without any hesitation to anybody. They take their work seriously and are extremely transparent about pricing/work being done. They are making me feel super relaxed and comfortable in , what could be a super uncomfortable and nerve wracking situation. I was super impressed the moment I walked in. Incredible clean waiting room and very welcoming front office staff. Back of the house was just as clean! And not to mention each "work" station has its own TV! Their knowledge of insurance providers and what's covered is proficient, and helpful when determining treatment plans. I was provided with a flexible payment plan which is always helpful. The fact that this is a family business makes this place more inviting. The main doctor, the father I have to assume, called me on my birthday to wish me a happy, healthy birthday. As far as the customer service goes, I have absolute 0 complaints. I want to actually apologize on the numerous times I rescheduled for my cleansing. I think I rescheduled my appointment about 3 X's and the front desk employees gladly kept on rescheduling. So thanks a bunch for the helpful and understanding service! I acknowledge I need much work done in my mouth. I have cavities, a broken back tooth and a wisdom tooth that needs care. I knowww - it's horrible. Prices (for cash patients): Consultation w/ x-rays : $35 Teeth cleansing : $100 Tooth extraction: $350 (or so) Tooth Implant procedure: $3,000.00 (oh em gee) Although I received fantastic customer care , frequent follow-ups and multiple reminders for my scheduled appointments, I couldn't continue at this dentistry. I am def. no expert in dentists rates, but $3,000 for an implant was way out of my budget . I asked for payment alternatives, and they offer a medical credit line (plus interests) ultimately getting you in more debt. But hey, at least they have that option, it's just not convenient for me. I will most certainly keep this dentistry in mind for any future simpler work needed. I plan on shopping around and receiving other quotes for a tooth implant. I'm sure I will come across a more affordable option. Again, great great and kind service. Just a bit pricey if you ask me. read more

I have pretty extreme dentist phobia brought about by some traumatizing childhood dentist experiences. Unfortunately, this kept me away from the dentist for many years (bad, bad, bad, I know). And it is not until I had a problem that I decided to muster up the courage to go to a dentist. This was one of the closest dentist offices to my house so I decided to make an appointment. The receptionist was friendly and was able to get me in a few days after calling to have X-rays done and figure out the course of action. I do not have insurance but had been saving to get the work done. The day of the appointment came and I arrived a few minutes early. I was told to fill out the forms by the front desk staff and was quickly taken back to get the X-rays done. The lady helping me was friendly and we made small talk while she took the X-rays. There was an unusual, biological smell from the device placed in my mouth during the X-rays. It wasn't chemical or metallic like the smells I am used to, so it seemed kinda strange. I hope it was properly sanitized. Once the X-rays were complete, the dentist came in. She was friendly at first but once she saw my X-rays she became cold. I needed 2 root canals, had some cavities, and was told I needed a deep cleaning to remove the tartar. I was prepared for a diagnosis like that. They then took photographs of my teeth and I went back into the office with the manager to discuss the cost and course of action. I was told that one of my teeth needed the root canal right away and that the dentist was unsure if it could be salvaged and she would not know until the root canal was done. Each root canal and crown would cost me $1650 and each cavity would be $100. She also explained that if the tooth could not be salvaged, it would be about $500 more to get it extracted and an implant put in. The worst part about the whole discussion, was she used the photographs of the two teeth that needed root canals as, what felt like to me, a scare tactic. She left the images up for well over 10 minutes, completely unsympathetic to how terrifying it was to me. When she finally removed the images from the screen, I mentioned to her that there was no need to continue horrifying me. She didn't respond. She kept pushing for me to make an appointment right then and there. I am not sure if it was because of the tooth damage or if she did not want me to do my research on other dentists. I made an appointment for 9am two days later. The next day, I began to research prices and the recommended procedures. I came across this website (http://fairhealthconsumer.org/dentalcostlookup.php) which allows you to enter your zipcode and get prices for your area for a particular procedure. The 80th percentile for a root canal and crown for my area was $1,200. That means they were charging more than 80% of other dentists. I started looking into other dentists and decided I would not get the procedure done here. I have so much anxiety at the dentist and I was worried they would exacerbate the problem. I also came across an interesting article on how dentists scam (http://www.dentistat.com/ReaderDigestArticle.pdf) that really opened my eyes and made me value the ability to research. After reaching this decision, it was too late for me to call them to cancel. I came in for the appointment but told the lady at the front that I was not going to have the procedure. She asked me why, and I explained that the prices were above the 80th percentile for the area. She did not disagree but said they normally change a $35 cancellation fee. I am giving this place a 2-star instead of 1 because the front desk staff was friendly and they didn't charge me the cancellation fee, which I would have gladly paid. I also requested my X-rays, filled out the forms, and was told it would be 5-7 business days to receive them. I would probably recommend this place if you had a lot of money or had insurance to fully cover the procedures. They have very little wait times and you would be able to get in almost right away. But if you have any bigger issues or are afraid of the dentist, I would avoid it. read more

I did not have a good experience with this office. I went in about a year ago to get an estimate for some fillings to be replaced with amalgams, and also to have some minor cosmetic work (reshaping of veneers.) Not having insurance, I wanted to make sure I could afford it. So I asked for a ballpark estimate for the amalgam fillings (a fairly standard procedure), and was told that they couldn't give me one without a checkup first. I told them that I understood, but that I didn't want to spend $75-100 on an appointment, if the estimate for the work I needed was going to be far out of my price range. They wouldn't budge, so I relented, and made an appointment. On the day of my appointment, I had to fill out more paperwork than an applicant for the CIA. I've never seen so many forms. It literally took a half hour. I was then taken into the examining room, where 3 different assistants took my x-rays, asked me more questions, and did preliminary examinations. Another 30 minutes. Finally I saw the Doctor who ran down a laundry list of all the things I needed. It was like going in for a tune-up for your car, and finding out they needed to rebuild the entire engine. Which was surprising since I had kept up with my dental work quite well while living in a different city. To the doctor's credit, he didn't push me to have any of the work done (that was left to the administrator in the back office.) I was finally guided into a consultation room in the back where an administrator went through all the estimates of the work to be done. Not only would I have needed to take out a 2nd mortgage to afford it, but the estimates were higher than what friends had told me they had paid for the same services. By the time I walked out of the office, I had spent approximately $80 for an appointment that was completely pointless since I couldn't even come close to the estimates they gave me. When I went back a week later to get my x-rays (which I'd already paid for), they charged me a HOLDING fee, before they'd release them to me. I wound up going to a different dentist (Dr. Hom on Hillhurst), who not only did the work cheaper, but didn't push any additional services. He's been great, and I've been going there ever since. read more

We arrived at 8:50am for our 9am appointment to take care of paperwork and to check-in but the place was closed! We waited until 9am and they were still closed! We actually thought we had gone to the wrong place! Who opens up their doors at 9am for a 9am appointment? When the doors finally opened, the receptionist in front was unprofessional and rude. Literally the worst dentist I've ever been to. George Lim was rude throughout the entire appointment. He even expected a written history of all my past dentist visits and blamed me because "now he doesn't know what's going on". Isn't this what you go to school for? His assistant looked like she was in her junior year of high school, and when he was finished and left she told me he's always rude to his male patients. So right off the bat, if you're male, do not go to this dentist. Afterwards, when they brought me into the back room to go into detail about the procedures I required, they only knew about the prices. They tried giving me details, got confused, remembered that they knew nothing about dentistry, and completely moved on to the prices. I think the worst part about all this is I went in their with teeth that didn't hurt. All I wanted was a checkup and cleaning, and now my teeth hurt.
