We had walked from Hermanhoff winery, specifically because we have loved Ainsley's in the past. Our fifth member was joining us from our second-street rental as soon as he dropped off our purchases. We were not allowed to sit until our fifth member arrived. Fine. We stood in the entrance. But my sister is in her late '50s and was overcome by heat from the walk. She sat down briefly so she wouldn't throw up and so she could catch her breath. The young woman running the restaurant immediately ordered all of us out. We appealed to her compassion, but she kept quoting The Rules, and insisted we leave. This had been one of our favorite restaurants in Hermann until today. My sister left in tears, humiliated, and struggled to get back to our rental. She is still crying. And thankfully did not collapse on the sidewalk from heat stroke. I will never forgive the young woman or Ainsley's for treating my sister badly. Shame on you. Shame on you. Shame on you.

The outside area by the rock walls was very pretty and the entire setting was nice. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. This is especially true since we were a large party. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the rest of the place. I ordered stuffed pork loin. The food was delivered fast. Probably too fast. I don't know how they could have prepared fresh food for so many in such short time. To me that indicates a lot of microwave use, but I could be wrong. My dinner came with a few thin slices of pork loin, green beans, garlic mashed potatoes with gravy and a biscuit. No salad. The portion size was ample. It was enough to fill me up, but no so much that I had to take home leftovers. I found the pork to be very dry and tasteless. The mashed potatoes were unremarkable and had very little garlic flavor. The biscuit was nothing to brag about. The one bright spot was the green beans. Some people thought they were overcooked, but I enjoyed them. My wife order Tilapia. They were very accommodating and let her substitute garlic mashed potatoes for the rice. She agrees with my comments on the beans and potatoes. She describes the tilapia as limp, slightly watery (although supposedly baked), barely warm, had a nice spice to it, but the fish had a rather fishy taste. Tilapia is supposed to be mild. It gave her the impression of being prepared earlier and had been sitting on a steam table for awhile. Definitely not cooked in the short period between our order and the time it was served. The other reviewers really liked the food. Maybe we went on the cooks night off, or maybe because we had a large group, they prepared a lot of food in advance. I may give it a try sometime when I'm in the area without being with a large group and then maybe I will have the experience of the other reviewers.

We stayed in Room #9 and our relatives stayed in room #11. This was the only place in town to get breakfast so the dining area was PACKED on Saturday. The dining area was closed for dinner due to the staffing problems that everyone is having. We had a very nice breakfast there on Sunday. The wait time on the food was good considering the staffing problems. Our waitress was great. The food was great. One thing to note: do not pay any attention to complaints about the hot water. They use a tankless heating system and there are signs all over the hotel informing people of that fact. The hotel was built in 1879 so indoor plumbing was obviously installed after the hotel was built. Don't expect spacious bathrooms. We will definitely stay there again.

The restaurant is located on a quaint corner with a couple outdoor benches for waiting. We went for a busy Sunday morning brunch service. Staff was very proficient at getting diners in and we were very okay with the wait. The inside is very pleasant, a mix between a bar vibe and mom & pop diner vibe. Once we were seated is when our experience began to drift away. Our particular server greeted us fairly quickly, but after taking our drink order we waited for 15+ minutes for them to be brought out. Initially I gave the server some grace, assuming it was perhaps because they were busy. As our brunch continued it became apparent our particular server was either bad at her job or just didn't care and the initial wait for our drinks was pretty on par with the rest of this server's attentiveness to our visit. I will say the rest of the staff seemed amazing. The manager/owner(?) came and checked on us a couple times and seemed invested in our experience. The product itself was amazing. Great menu selections (food, drinks, boozy options, and the food and drinks themselves were outstanding. Fun environment. One of the TVs in our section was playing old GI Joe cartoons (right in my wheelhouse) while the other had sports programming on. My hope is the particular server we had was an outlier for this establishment, which is why despite her horrible service, I provided a rating. Our server brought our check out while we were still eating. My drink was empty and I intended on ordering another one but I wasn't asked. Despite this visit, I would certainly return and give the service a second chance.
