Uniform shopping for your kids a few weeks before the start of school is usually the last place tired and frazzled parents want to be. I am generally an online buyer of things but buying school uniforms are something you really need to do in person for obvious reasons. You want to make sure your investment lasts more than a year because you don't want to return the next year! Shirley had a good number of staff the days we went. Good thing, as school was starting in a few weeks. The staff was quite helpful, running back and forth getting items for us from the shelves and putting back the ones that didn't fit well. Lines weren't too long despite the volume - staff was busy ringing up the in person sales while also filling online orders. The employees appeared to be in high school or just graduated from high school? Not sure, but what I am sure about is they've got their customer service skills refined and polished already thanks to Shirley who runs a tight ship. I had no idea there was a Dennis Uniform store here on Oahu! After getting a bunch of hand me downs for both my sons' Maryknoll uniforms, I decided to return a couple of pants to use toward their school supplies. The Dennis rep on the phone was extremely pleasant and helpful. He mentioned it would be best to return the items to the store rather than ship it due to the hefty shipping charges from Hawaii. So here I am! You wouldn't think I'd be giving 5 stars for my experience. The shopping center is in a dense area on Nimitz Hwy, the store itself was tricky to find, and the line for all transactions wrapped around the store (all of their registers were broken except for ONE). The wait time was 25 minutes. I had my 4-year old son in tow and thought to myself, "This is gonna be fun." So why the 5 stars? It's all in the CUSTOMER SERVICE. As I walked in, immediately a sales attendant apologized and informed me that only one register is working. Navigating deeper into the store at the end of the line, a second sales attendant smiled and also apologized with a friendly, "We're so sorry, but we'll be with you shortly." Then the best service came from the Store Manager, Shirly. Seeing my son waiting patiently in line with his iPad, Shirly asked me, "Would your son like a bag of chips? Is that okay with you, Mom?" I was floored. What a generous and completely unexpected offer! My son's eyes lit up and he happily munched on his Lays chips as the line got shorter and shorter. What a great way to pass the time and turn lemons into lemonade! The return process was flawlessly easy. I brought the receipt, so I didn't need to provide my credit card. The account was automatically credited! Thank you to Shirly and the wonderful staff for such a positive experience despite the unfortunate setback. Service is good. Havd to come on the days that they are open so pay attention as I went there and store was closed. So i went for another day but when I was there i was the only one in the store so associates were attentive to my needs. I was looking for my two kids' uniform and the selection of sizes can be tough. Looked for small adult but i think they ran out. I settked for medium for now. Otherwise you have to order online and they charge for shipping to Hawaii. Although there is return policy of i believe she said 90 days as long as the tags are still on. There is no other stores in this island so cant help but to buy from this store. I think they have sale in the month of April. I hope they give flyers to schools to remind the parents. read more

I went randomly to get new a new dress shirt for my son. Usually I try to plan these things out better, but I was there so I thought I'd grab him a new one. Shirley and the two young men that were working were really great helping me. My son had an old shirt that we bought before they moved locations. I could recall the size. They were great sports in helping me determine his size, giving me their sizes lol. They even checked my previous purchases made.. finding out that I haven't really bought a dress shirt in a while for my son . The size we determined wasn't available in store but I was able to place my order online in the store. I had my younger daughter with me and Shirley was the best conversing with her and keeping her occupied while I tried to figure out my boys size. I needed to buy new school uniforms and decided to visit the store to make sure I get the right sizes. Shirly and her staff were on it! Super helpful and guided me what I needed to buy. Although they were out on the actual school uniforms to make sure my children got fit for the right sizes, the staff provided us with clothes from another school that would fit the same. I wasn't aware that there was an online sale, but Shirly gave me the scoops which ultimately got me saving over $100. Timeline: Ordered uniforms for two children for the same school on June 30th. Began calling for follow up on the order July 13th. Each time I called the store, the manager, Shirley made me call back several times in the same day, because she said that they were too busy and to call back. Since July 13th I've called back every time they told me to call, to find out if my shipment has arrived. I've called almost once a week from July 13th - August 18th. My children started school on August 2nd. Shirley was unprofessional, after sharing with her our urgency to resolve this matter and provide her with only facts of our efforts and timeline, no critisim or emotions were shared. She interrupts me and tells me she doesn't have time for me to vent and attack her. At no time did I attack her with words. I stayed on my path and only stated the facts with her our of timeline history of efforts. She also tells me that she has bo control on this, and that no other parent from the school complained. My response was... Yes! You have control with the type of customer service that you're willing provide, and the other parents experience has nothing to do with mine. Her mentioning that still doesn't resolve my order situation, and I didn't understand how that was relevant to me. at this point I realized that she could not perform her job as manager and respond to one's order issues under pressure, and she didn't provide the customer service to someone that waited/still waiting for their order since June 30th. The experience with her was disappointing from a customer point of view. the other workers there were much more helpful and patient and provided sincere customer service. It was Rylen that took the time to resolve our order. Shirley - please reconsider your manager position and perhaps take a few more classes to better your customer service. Follow up... In addition to resolving our order being delayed by 2 months, which was already paid for. Shirley suggested that we purchase an additional polos on the size we need and take it to get embroidered or we can purchase an additional polos they have in stock. She couldn't provide us a tracking number, she couldn't provide us the current location of our order. We were unable to access that information via our email order confirmation. On our end it only shows that we received partial of our order. I sent my mom (grandmother) who was available to go to the store and pick up any shirts that they had available. It's sad to say that Shirley went out of her way to make my mom feel uncomfortable, who is kupuna and only there to pick up. Please Shirley, you're behavior and response was observed by a few other parents whom also attend the same school. We encourage you to please approach customers with a service attitude, and be willing to do the work to resolve orders that have been delayed for over 2 months. Thankfully the other employees are capable, willing and sincere in their service approach and conduct themselves professionally. read more

Extremely frustrated at the uniform process and the business model as a whole. This year, we went in to purchase uniforms for our daughter and the local store was completely wiped out. We found one blouse tucked away in the back of a rack that fit our daughter. We were told that we could order more so we did. After a few weeks of waiting, the ordered blouses came in. To our dismay, the shirts were a completely different size. They were both tagged the same (G4), but the cut was completely different. I noticed on the tag that the style numbers were different. So... I went back to the store to see if we could do an exchange. The staff was less than helpful and basically told us "oh well. You have to call the customer service." I called as instructed, and after waiting on hold for two hours, was told the exact same thing by customer service... "oh well, that's just how it is since we have multiple vendors. You can try and return it and we can send new ones in 8 weeks but there is no guarantee that it will be the correct size." When I asked if I could order based on the style number to ensure the correct size, I was told that their computer system does not allow them to look things up that way... Customer service suggested calling the school and asking for a uniform exemption... How ass backwards is that?!?! Instead of trying to fix a problem that they created, they want to just say oh well and pass it on. How as a company, can you not be able to tell where your items are coming from based on the tags? That seems like a pretty basic inventory search function. Because no one at this company can seem to figure out a solution, our daughter now has ONE uniform for the entire year.... Absolutely ridiculous. Suggested fixes to this company's issues.... 1) Ensure that the local store fronts have available every single size on the rack so kids can try on to see what fits... and at least that way they know what size to order! 2) Have a sizing standard! It should not matter who sews the garment.. if you as a company tell the manufacturer that a small is 10"x12", then a small should be 10"x12" regardless of who makes it! read more

I usually order uniforms online without my daughter trying them on, but figured I'd take her to the store so she has a better fit of her uniform. Thank goodness we did because I would've probably got her a bigger size that she would not be comfortable with. The employees were super helpful and so attentive. I walked into the store on 8/19/23 hoping to resolve an order placed on June 30, 2023 which remained unfulfilled and undelivered. I was hesitant and anxious as I had made several phone calls about order status and projected delivery dates without answers. During a recent phone query I was told by the store manager named Shirley that she was overwhelmed and couldn't deal with my phone query . She told me "there were more important things going on in the world like the Lahaina wildfire and tracking the delivery of uniforms ordered on June 30 did not rise to the top of her list." She recommended I repurchase the uniforms and take the size they had in stock to a tailor and have them altered to the size I had originally ordered. Shirley advised me the tailor that Dennis Uniforms uses would charge a fee for the alteration service. There were several intervening communications that occurred prior to my walking in the store on 8/19/23 but I had attempted too many phone calls and written too many emails to regarding the unfulfilled order therefore I decided to visit the store to resolve the outstanding s uniform order in person. As I waited in line at the counter I noted I was surrounded by several customers and four staff members were at the counter. I approached the counter with my purchase receipt in hand and gave it to a staff member named Ryland. Ryland listened to my concern then presented my receipt to Shirley. In a loud voice she asked Ryland "is that the (blank, blank) order? Look I can't deal with that right now." Shirley, admonished her clerk for bothering her. Shirley's response and voice volume could be heard by everyone in the store. The receipt I provided clearly stated I had paid for the uniforms and confirmed the items ordered and the 6/30/23 order date. My worth as a customer (who is also a senior citizen) was clearly devalued, I was humiliated and made to feel that I was the negative person in this situation. I visited the store trying to resolve an ongoing issue about an order that had not been fulfilled after numerous attempts and weeks had passed. Nevertheless I maintained a positive demeanor as I shared my concerns and did my best to keep myself above the embarrassing situation Shirley was unfolding in a store filled with customers. I appreciated Ryland who was calm and professional and making every attempt to quietly address my concern. As a retired HR professional I was disappointed with Dennis Uniforms staff member Shirley who accused me of verbally "attacking" her. I did not appreciate her reprimanding me to raise my awareness of more important things going on in the world like the war in Ukraine and Lāhaina wildfires verses an unfulfilled uniform order. It was a disappointing to experience. Shirley was demeaning and void of kindness and respect and expanded her previous phone rants to me as I stood there in person and in a very public forum. My efforts on 8/19/23 were to gain clarification and understanding of an order made on 6/30/23 remained undelivered and unfulfilled as of 8/19/23. Shirley's confrontational customer service approach made it impossible to work towards a calm, respectful and professional resolution. Absolutely impossible. Oh, don't bother calling or emailing the customer service department .... It's a voice recording that states they are not available as a result of numerous calls and lack of staffing. I've left voice mail messages since mid/late July and email messages that haven't been responded to. Going into the Honolulu store I was hopeful. But it was not to be. read more

I've been coming here for years. The team is reliable and the product is great quality. I have many relatives who reguarly purchase for their kids, too and let's face it - with kids, we usually end up coming in a more than once a year because they grow do darn fast. Carefully calculating my set budget, the best way to get the most versatility the new pieces would add to my existing closet and planning out my outfits for the first week of the new school year. *first impressions, so weird what we used to place importance on when we were young* Fast-forward... being a mom myself, I dread back-to-school shopping for my kiddos!! With that said, I came to Dennis on 9.7.2019 around 1:45pm, a lovely and friendly cashier named Haley greeted me and asked if she could offer me some assistance with what I was looking for. I'm sure she also noted the young kiddos I had with me. She quickly found the items I was looking for, helped with sizing my growing beanstalk of an offspring and she offered to have some items that weren't in stock shipped directly to me. Fantastic! I only came here because I had to get my son his school uniform. I visited only days before school started so I was lucky to find a shirt and 2 pants that fit him. He is a kindergartener and the sales person told me his school requires a belt with his pants. I made a comments, " oh wow for kindergarten? Really?" Well, should've listened to my gut.
