I called him late in the day on a Wednesday and he was able to come give me a quote the next day on Thursday. Ken showed called when he was on his way and showed up exactly when he was promised. He gave me an unbelievable quote for the work I needed done. We discussed him coming out on Monday to do the work, but after I told him my movers were coming tomorrow (Friday) he asked if I wanted the work done before my movers came. I said that would be awesome, but that is less than 24 hours away. So what did Ken do? Ken literally left my house got his work van and one of his employees and was back in 1 hour to do the work!!! Not only did that type of customer service just blow me away, but him and his partner staying until 9:30pm to finish the work was over the top. Not many people would do that. It's not very often in today's world you find someone as polite and professional as Ken, and It's even as less often you find someone that takes as much pride their work as he does. Highest recommendation possible!!

Also, the estimator (whom I believe was the owner's son) was very kind and available to answer all our questions, without any condescension or indifference. After the install, which took about 1-1/2 days, there were a few items I had mentioned that were overlooked, and when I contacted the owner, instead of being met with indignation (as I expected), I was met with compassion and understanding. The items were remedied within a few days. Everything looks great! No more leaking roof. -------------------------------------- On a side note, my neighbor (weeks later) said she saw many nails in her driveway, and when she said something to the workers, they were really rude. She said the next day there were food rappers and more nails in her yard/driveway, and said she ended up with a roof nail in her tire with a flat. I emphatically apologized to her but there wasn't much more I could do. I also later found 2 cigarettes (one smoked and the other whole) in my attic, and have found nails here and there for weeks now. For these last few reasons, I could not offer a 5-star rating, and almost put 3 stars, but 3 would not be indicative of the overall quality, which is more important to me from a roofer than attitude--though if everyone had an attitude similar to the owner's son, 5 stars would be an easy rank. Overall, the experience was good, but not great, though I would recommend them over others. I would only advise that every detail be written down, and that the owners have a little more oversight on their daily crews, just for quality (and attitude) control.

Four weeks after the quote and we still had no communication with this company unless we called ourselves, and even then we got the voicemail 9 times out of 10. When someone did answer, they gave us a new excuse every time. Apparently our job wasn't worth the money, and instead of canceling on us or keeping their word they just ghosted us. Our roof could've been fixed much sooner with the company we actually went with in the end and it would've prevented further damage. Shame on these guys.

The staff at Heat'n Sweep were great. They asked us all the right questions to lead us to the proper log set and helped us quickly set up an install date for the gas line. Oh, and as my friend had suggested, they were very reasonable. Their installers showed up on time and later that day when we had concerns that there may be a gas leak, I shut off the gas and called their store. Alex there, walked me through the issue and explained that it was almost certainly the smell from the initial burn that was concerning me. Although I felt safe after our chat, Alex drove all the way to my house that evening to assure my family was safe and happy with the service- And my house isn't close. Once at the house, Alex walked me through everything and made us 100% comfortable. He was kind enough to give me a lesson on fireplaces and I picked his brain on a chimney issue I was having at a rental home. I ended up hiring his company for that job the next day and saved money there as well- As the previous contractor appeared to be taking advantage of me with his proposal. My tenant was super happy with the results. It's been several months since our install and no one is happier with it than my wife, who sits by the fire almost every evening during the winter to relax. Oh, except maybe for our neighbors across the way who we recommended they also use Heat'n Sweep! I was reminded to write this review as I sit here by our fireplace on a freezing winter morning with my pup, enjoying some peace and quiet before the craziness starts. Something I now do almost daily. I'm very appreciative of their work and happy to support a great Michigan family-owned business in these difficult times.

Nancy did the homework to identify an alternative pilot assembly replacement for the discontinued one. While their service backlog was a month, the knowledgeable, efficient service was well worth the wait.
