Do not use Dalzell Landscaping. I was told the project was going to start on a specific day so I…read morewaited at home all day. I emailed and didn't hear back. Then I left a voicemail and didn't hear back. I then sent a text late afternoon and didn't hear back until around 6:00 that night that it would start the following day. No apologies, no explanations, nothing. Every time I sent an email asking for an update on things, no one replied. The fire pit is the center piece of my back yard and when I came home one evening the fire pit was a disaster. Picture attached 1. There was about a 1" gap between pavers. 2. To save cutting pavers, they only cut one layer which meant they were not of equal height. If they were going to do that, it should have been the top layer but they cut the bottom layer which made it look top heavy. 3. The cut side of the pavers was at the seam in the middle, rather than at the base or at the top. As a result, it had to be redone but the layers of the pavers couldn't be taken off without breaking the cement board frame. So, they had to add a new laver of pavers over the first layer. My brother had to tell the guys how to do it properly. It turned out well (after picture also attached) but then required a larger capstone which meant going back to the granite shop and resulted in having to have multiple pieces cut rather than one solid piece of granite because I was using a remnant. Needless to say, I felt as though I needed to be around throughout the project to ensure things went as I expected them to. Plumbing - I was then told about the plumber coming mid-week. So, I was home all afternoon that Tuesday and all day Wednesday and Thursday. I asked several times during that timeframe about the plumber. Dead silence. At that point I sent an email to both Project Mgr and overall manager telling them that I wanted to be there when the plumber was coming and provided my availability the following week. I had followed up several times asking if they coordinated with the plumber. Of course, they showed up when I wasn't home. Luckily I came home while they were still there. I asked some very specific questions and he couldn't answer any of them. (he was not a licensed plumber). He said he'd have to call his boss. I bought a very high end 240,000 BTU burner that required significant knowledge of gas lines, pressure, water column etc.... The guy didn't even have a pressure gauge. The fence was also a mystery for weeks and I couldn't get an update from the overall manager. Every time I sent an email asking for an update, there was no response. I then attempted to call him and found out his voicemail was full. So, I texted asking him to call me. He finally called me and told me the fence had either been lost or sent to the wrong location and that it was coming in soon. The fence was finally installed today and I sent a separate email regarding a few issues. I hired Dalzell specifically because they told me they could do everything and I wanted a GC managing the project. I was willing to pay a premium for this. But I didn't have anyone really managing this for me. I was eventually told the overall manager was fired. He had some things fixed but has stated there is nothing left they need to do. My lawn has many issues where they dug it up to put in a new sprinkler zone and to bury my downspout.

Charged me for a consultation, which I paid. I was told that they would give me a design package…read morefor our small project for $600.00. I paid a required $225.00 down payment for the design to be furnished "this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest". I received nothing. After 5 days I followed up twice and finally got a print out of a design that would not work. I asked for an estimate and a meeting to discuss the design. I never heard so 2 weeks later after more follow ups, I asked for my $225.00 back. The owner would not give my money back. He claimed that they delivered what they promised. He even came to see me to look at the area and told me that changes would have to be made because the design would not work. Do not trust this company to be efficient or responsive, and please do not get hoodwinked into paying anything up front as I did. You will be sorry.
