ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I just love my "new" yard !!
For some time, I have wanted to do some landscape work in my yard, but I didn't know who to call or how to go about it. While on my daily walk through the neighborhood, I had noticed a house that had recently completed some major landscaping work. It looked fantastic, as did two other yards in the area that looked as if they had been done by the same company. I finally got the courage to knock on the door and ask about it. Ray and Hilda could not have been nicer or more encouraging. They handed me a "Vernon's Landscapes" card and proceeded to talk to me at length about their project, which they were absolutely thrilled with!! They had only good things to say about Dennis and Marysol, their crew, and their work, using words such as professional, experienced, courteous, friendly, punctual, helpful, understanding (willing to listen and to make suggestions), etc. etc.
I called the number on the card, my call was returned even though it was late evening, and we met only a couple of days later. I told them about the trouble areas I had, but didn't have any idea what to do about them. My lack of ideas did not daunt them, and they offered their different options and ideas (depending on what my budget allowed) about what I could do to enhance my front and side yard and cut back on my lawn watering. I decided right then to not get any other estimates, but to just put the project into their hands and let them run with it. They designed a xeriscape, with a white stone border (reinforced with rebar and cement) to match the stone on my house, crushed granite beds with stepping stones and sections of river rock to enhance the beauty, some stone and mortar terracing on the side, and finally a long section of flat stones painstakingly laid near each other with crushed granite between them, between the sidewalk and street.
They and their workers proved to be EVERYTHING Ray and Hilda said they would be, from initial contact to the end of the project. They began the work when they said they would, and throughout that week and the next, they listened to my concerns, answered all my questions, were willing to make changes and offer even more suggestions, all in a calm, helpful, knowledgeable manner. At one point Dennis noted that I might have a drainage problem in one area (something I would never have thought of), and he offered ideas about how to deal with it. The workers were all equally courteous, respectful, skilled, and efficient. As I initially didn't know what I wanted and had a hard time visualizing their ideas, I could not believe how awesome my yard looked upon completion. I was bubbling over with enthusiasm until I suddenly realized that my neighbor, who mows my yard, would no longer be able to get his riding mower into a section of lawn. Almost in tears I called Marysol. She and Dennis came out immediately, calmed me down and once again offered solutions to my problem, that wouldn't look as if the solution was an unplanned afterthought. They managed to do more work that fit in with my previous work, and now I have a lovely small stone patio amid the rest of my landscaped yard. Now all I need is a small bench or chairs to put on it, and I can sit back and enjoy what's been done. My neighbors have all complimented me on the yard, and have asked about Dennis and Marysol and how I found them.
