I am very impressed so far, and i only checked in an hour ago. In my home town, there aren't a huge amount of options if you want a hotel, or bed and breakfast. I chose this one, of to that were fairly close together in Castleside, mainly because of proximity to Town Centre, and it being near to bus route.
I had told my David and Catherine i would arrive between 9 and 10pm, however i was later than that, due to unavoidable airport delays (doors inside airport jammed shut, we couldn't exit) So i didn't arrive till 10.30pm, but they were so sweet, and kind, said they were worried about me.
Checking in was a breeze, i got my keys, WiFi password, and my basic instructions, including choice of breakfast (I chose Full English, but several options are available - colour me mega impressed) My host carried my heavy bag upstairs for me, which is marvellous, as my back hurts so much.
I must say, this room is really lovely, I love it. It's perfect for me, I feel very cosy, and comfortable. It's not a huge room, but i still think it's just so perfect, and endearing. It's beautifully furnished. I am particularly drawn to the crystal chandelier The colours of this room are soothing to me, a weary traveler. I haven't even recovered from jet lag from Alaska to Ireland and no more than a week later, I came over here to see family. There is plenty of storage for clothes etc.
I have teamaking facilities, and CHOCOLATE biscuits and snacks with a good selection of teas, and a proper kettle, mug, and teaspoon - these may seem like small things, but when you're used to coffee-oriented hotels in America, who rarely have good tea, never any biscuits, cookies, or snacks, and definitely not a mug, with proper metal spoon, these things make a big difference to a strictly tea-drinker like me. I have Sky TV channels and WiFi, I have a gorgeous and modern bathroom, with a beautiful new shower. They don't even look like they have been used. The hand wash and shower gels smell amazing, and of a Molton Brown type quality, though I'm unfamiliar with this brand.
A nice touch, Catherine had put the heating on for me, in case i was cold - I'm actually overheating most days, it's a little warmer here than home (Alaska) and I'm struggling to get acclimated, but I've had it turned off, and feeling more comfortable.
I am very impressed with Catherine's breakfast, in particular her fried eggs are a monumental success. Perfection. So i had full English Breakfast every day, and it means i don't want lunch anywhere. There's a choice of cereals, and then bacon, sausage, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, and toast, with tea/coffee and orange juice. Delicious.
And not only my room is beautiful, the kitchen, dining room, all the passageways - all are tastefully decorated, and immaculately clean. This is a beautiful place and I WILL be back. For sure.
I called my Mother immediately, to tell her next times she comes, she should stay here. read more
