Characterized by a vintner-curated menu of blended wines and cocktails, the dimly lit spot is warm and attractive. The interior is appointed with art work, shiplap and stone work. The communal tables add to the festive decore and allow for making new friends, especially on Christmas (during our visit). The owner, Steve, is a Sommelier by training and has mad skills. His space is welcoming and he's passionate about a great guest experience, often planning unique events like an oyster shucking master class, glass blowing workshops, candlemaking, and, of course, private wine tastings. Flanked by his Alaskan Husky and best friend, Bear, he'll spend time with patrons, make a solid drink recommendation and ensure a memorable visit.

They did NOT have a glass of wine available for less than $45 (+$20 cover). They have $30/glass on the menu but was out of stock according to the waitress. I also did not go to Sundance and am not here for that so his comment about being *out of my depth* is just dumb. I encourage you to look at the one star reviews of this place and see the owners' hostile, immature, and abrasive responses (others also note his blatant habit of lying). Stephen, book a therapy appointment. Original review below *********** There is a $20 cover charge to enter, and they were out of all of the cheapest ($30/glass) glasses of wine, so we were forced to get the next cheapest, a $45 glass of wine. Are you willing to spend $65 for a cheap glass of wine? They also only have five cocktails on the menu and you can't order anything else with liquor (I asked for a hot toddy cuz I'm freezing and they said no can do). The singer was good and the ambiance is nice; not very crowded. But overall, I would never pay $65/glass for mediocre wine unless I'm at an ultra luxury resort (which this is not).

We spent most of the time in the van and when we did stop at the locations, we weren't able to go inside to tour any of them or even use a bathroom at them, we just stood in the driveways to learn about them. I admire her passion for teaching, but we cannot for the life of us figure out how our $3000 was spent. The wine was limited to an ounce every time, and whenever we asked for a second "glass" the lady pouring would say "well we want to make sure everyone gets some!" - the "snacks" were two tiny pieces of cheese inside of a ziplock baggie and there is no place to use any restroom throughout the course of the entire tour... mainly because the tour takes place only in a van and standing in driveways. For $3000, a nice suggestion would've been a charcuterie spread INSIDE of one of the locations with some tastings and every person at that price should at the very least have been able to go home with a bottle of wine from the tour. I give her credit for starting up a creative business in an extremely competitive tourist city, but I can't in good faith allow anyone else to pay so much money to go into this expecting a luxury experience, and end up getting yelled at by a bus driver and having to sneak around an old hospital just to pee. I really liked her as a person and hope she can take this advice and use it to work on creating a better experience for all.

We started our tour at the Brass Tag Deer Valley with an introduction to PC history (complete with imagery) while sipping a wonderfully light wine. Next, we hopped upon a "wine bus" - seats facing each other - to encourage continued education and conversation. With each historical stop, wine and mine history was poured by sommelier Kristen Fox, small snacks were gifted in a goodie bag to enhance the flavor of the wine, and guests enjoyed the humor and depth of knowledge of Kirsten. Six wines, six locations, a return to the Brass Tag for more history and a plate of charcuterie made for a perfect three hour activity. Highly suggested unique tour - great tour bus - just call an Uber to drive you back to your hotel- if needed.

Unfortunately pickleball courts are not heated, but heaters may be coming! Of course once you get started, I'm sure you'll warm up! Beyond pickleball, I came for the ciders! And apparently I was not the only person that night who had cider on their minds! I could hear a crowd even before I entered the location! The cidery host many events, and tonight was football! We were fortunate to get one of the remaining seats at the bar. All the high tops were filled with the football fans! The bar is the spot to be at, so you can hang with fellow bar goers and find out what's good! Plus best service is always at the bar. Tonight was no exception: we had great service from all and even invited to the snacks svaogkr football fans. So how was the cider? There's a cider for everyone! We like traditional dry ciders that you may find in UK. On tap they had imperial and hop cider. Both were dry! Beyond our choice ciders, there were a lot of unique flavors. Getting cider at a bar in Utah is interesting. Cider is sold like wine, so you can get 5 ounces or a carafe like wine ...a carafe is 15 ounces. Prices are fair. Opted for the spiked hot cider after to cap off the night and it came with a cinnamon stick and orange slice. Bathrooms were clean and fresh smelling and they offered a shelf of self care items if needed. That was a nice touch!

Once she checked our IDs, we walked up to the bar to order drinks. One of the bartenders was dressed Doris from the movies and it was fantastic. We got to try the Shrek special, ginger beer, dark portal and Garden wall this evening and all of the drinks were great! I especially liked the refreshing taste of the Garden Wall and will definitely be back for that. Trivia night was a lot of fun and the host did well. I feel bad for all the manual work he had to do to tally things up and hope there is a better way to do this as the game took a bit longer as expected. Not a big deal because it gave everyone time to get more drinks and to mingle. Loved the staff here - these are some of the nicest bartenders I've met in a while and it's refreshing! He can't wait to purchase the other flavors! Also, each bottle has a fun message on the back, so be sure to check that out. We had a pleasant experience here and all of the employees were fun to talk with. We'd love to come back for a wine tasting sometime. What could be more "Utah" than making wine out of honey? I love how The Hive Winery has branded…read morethemselves and made specialty mead and fruit wine their thing-way to embrace the culture. If you're unfamiliar with the significance of honey/beehives in Utah, do a little research-the metaphor of beehives dates back to our pioneer days. Utahns are industrious people. If you're more interested in traditional wines, this might not be for you. But it's fun to venture out and try something new. My friend and I scheduled a tasting to celebrate her birthday and each opted for a different menu-I did the wines, while she did the spirits. We would take a taste of each, then share, so we ended up really tasting ten different items. I enjoyed the Pioneer Red as well as one of the whiskeys-although I've forgotten the name of that one. I didn't care as much for the meads-those had a flavor that I didn't love as much. Our host, Michael, was friendly and not only explained what we were tasting but also carried on conversation with us, making us feel at home. He had a dry sense of humor, which I appreciate. Speaking of humor, there is an actual curtain that can be pulled across the bar/tasting area to partition the alcohol that's being consumed from the patrons in the gift shop (since minors could visit the shop with parents, I'd assume. We made sure to close it and get some pictures of the custom-made curtain that cheekily acknowledges the silly Utah liquor law. We asked if it would be possible to take a tour, but were told that they can't give tours-which I'm still confused about, because I've taken tours at other locations in the state. Maybe they are just extra cautious and don't want to do anything that could get them shut down. Or perhaps it has something to do with how their business is classified. The tasting menu changes each week, dependent on what new product they are putting out. It would be a fun way to check out the new inventory and pick something you'd like to take home. I know I will!

I was actually fairly impressed with the selection here compared to the other state run stores (so you know...all of them), but what I was NOT impressed with was the mislabeling. I realize this doesn't seem like a big deal, but if you know much about wine, you know that the year DEFINITELY matters. Update your labels, please.
