There was also a jungle gym (think cosmic adventures) but that was extra tokens. I did get quiet tired of the arcade games pretty quickly and some games looked worse for wear. The kids seemed to enjoy it. The cards did have a timer between playing games so that you could not double tap the card. The $25 all you can play game night did NOT let you build up credit to redeem for prizes. We had a party room and cheese pizza. Pizza was your standard pizza. Great for kids, but nothing to write home about. The vibe of Funhaven was more warehouse/concrete vibes. Washrooms were clean. I do wish they had sanitzer bottles placed out around the establishement. I did find myself washing my hands quiet frequently after playing the games (flu season, not taking any chances). My husband has been wanting to check out Funhaven for a while, and I'm glad we did where all expenses were paid for, but I would not rush back.

The details in each room are amazing. I screamed when the floor opened underneath us. We ended up in the dungeon up to our waists in murky polluted water. From there, two more rooms. Each room was challenging and it took team work to resolve. I have to add that the people have been amazing on both of my visits. Today we bumped into one of the owners who took time to spend with us, tell us about the path to 'today' and where his team is headed developmentally. I'm not in this area often, especially during the pandemic, so when I saw that they were offering frozen pierogis through Burrow Shop's online grocery delivery service, I had to buy them. I got the traditional pierogis made with flour, sour cream, eggs, potato, cheddar cheese, and salt. It was a 12-pack of frozen pierogis sealed in plastic in a little cardboard box with the instructions at the bottom, which included boiling and panfrying. I was lazy and starving at that point and looking for something fast, so I decided to brush six of them with olive oil and stick them in the air fryer. I should've taken them out sooner because the potato started leaking out the ends, but they were still great. Of course, if I had followed the instructions, I'm sure they'd be even better (I saved the other half to try it making it the way they said). Simple and comforting, not lacking flavour, but not too tame, and not too salty. The six were a great snack for just myself - I can see how people could easily take down plates of these!

Tickets range from $15 to $25, the latter being the standard, $20 being the group rate, and the low rate of $15 coming as part of a one day flash sale they had pre-haunting season. With your ticket, you get a one-time admission to each of their 4 fright sites which include: The Spooky Wagon Ride, House of Terror, Spooky Village, and Fog Maze. They are open from 7 until 10 pm. Before arriving, I wasn't sure if it was enough time, but if you plan accordingly and hit the wagon ride (which has the longest wait line) first and then check out the rest of the attractions, you're pretty well set. Admittedly, I only personally experienced the Spooky Wagon Ride and the Spooky Village. I don't do well with things that go bump in the night, and chickened out of the other two sites. The Spooky Wagon Ride is pretty neat, it's interactive and definitely has its freaky moments. I personally found that the Spooky Village is a bit more on the goofy side than scary side- a break I was happy to encounter. There certainly are some jump factors there, but nothing overwhelming and it was a lot less nerve rattling. It's a bit of a drive to get there, but in my opinion, for the season, it's worth it. Alot of the great Halloween attractions seem to be just on the outskirts, but it makes sense since it's at an orchard. There is food available for purchase, but keep in mind if you are looking for some freshly made fries, the canteen only accepts cash. Oh! And this is a big one for some people- the only bathrooms I found were porta-potties, but they were spacious and clean. I would definitely recommend this as a family fun activity or a night out with friends!

December 8, 2016: As promised, I'm updating my review, now that we have had our event here…read more Really, I wish I could give this place a 6 or 7-star! It was STELLAR!! I recommend this venue for any event you might have in mind, be it with your work colleagues or a personal event such as a wedding or other special occasion. The food was great! The service was really good, the view was awesome, and the room was so nicely set up. Kudos to the Britannia Yacht Club for helping us put on an awesome event!! And now to describe our event in more detail: We had about 70 guests, and the tables were spread out in a relaxed fashion (not all crammed together, or in rigid lines), and were covered in seasonal covered linens (white cloth covered by either a green or burgundy / red cloth). The ceiling was decorated with white paper fold out globes and tule spread out from the centre. The BYC provided a screen and projector, and I brought my laptop with a slide show of the unit over the years since I've been there. This all functioned very well. As for the food, three differed main dishes were offered (All delicious!) - chicken in mushroom sauce, fish (salmon) also in sauce, and a pasta / vegetarian dish. Also available were the following items: a cold veggie salad in a marvelous dressing; rice, warm veggies in a mayo sauce. Beverages available were: coffee, tea, a fruit punch, pop, and water (which they refilled without being prompted - which I for one really appreciate!) and we had a cash bar for those who cared to imbibe in something a little stronger. And finally, there was a HUGE lemon cake that was moist and flavourful. It was good, but I had wished for a chocolate lava cake! Maybe I should have asked for this! The only minor glitch we had was that we could have used a microphone, but while planning the event, we felt we wouldn't need it. In hindsight, we should have requested it. But this is really minor, overall. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am really looking forward to this! Our office winter luncheon will be held at the Britannia Yacht Club in early December. Once we have had the event, I will edit my review to talk about the food service. Planning for this event, they have been very accommodating, patiently doing what they can to put this together for us. From the pictures on-line, the upstairs room looks very inviting - a bit like being on a boat (of course!) - with wood finishes and table linens. They offer a cash bar, and they cater events themselves, like weddings and Corporate events, as well as their own functions. Their menu is quite reasonably priced. This Yacht Club has been around for so long (since 1877), that I'm surprised nobody has reviewed it before! So stay tuned - I will tell you about the food in the 2nd week in December.

BEWARE of this company FMG (Festival de montgolfieres de Gatineau)- we bought VERY expensive…read moretickets ($40 each) to see the balloons launch last weekend, and then had a family emergency where we could not attend- we were told in person that the tickets would be refunded and when I followed up the company refused. Also, I found out afterwards that you can see the balloons launch FOR FREE on the opposite side of the fence and apparently (because of the weather) the balloons didn't even leave the ground that night! Total RIP-OFF and poor customer service!

I accidentally wound up in Gatineau around the time of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival. I…read moreremembered reading a quick blurb about it being one of the largest hot air balloon festivals in the world (if not THE largest) so my boyfriend and I trekked over from our hotel to check it out. It was fabulous! There were dozens of balloons taking flight, and not just your typical balloons. There were cats, Noah's Ark, a giant panda, and many more. The photo opportunities were infinite and I wish we could have stayed longer. The festival continues into the afternoon with food, music, and fun for everyone in attendance, but unfortunately we had to go once the last few balloons had gone up into the sky. I highly recommend trying to come out and see this, especially if you're a flight/festival fanatic! The good news for anyone who may want to visit from the US? It's always over Labor Day (or Labour Day if you prefer!) so you could easily make a long weekend of the adventure. And what an adventure it is!
