After seeing countless mouth-watering photos uploaded from Demazzi, we decided to head down to Essendon for lunch and give them a try. Both inside and out - the venue looks great and is set up really lovely. The outside seating area was pretty busy, as well as inside. We took a look at the menu before we both ordered the 'Lucky Mac' burger without jalapenos and a Gaytime shake. The food was presented well and looked wonderful. We loved how the shakes came out on small wooden chopping boards - similar to the ones the burgers came out on. The burgers were loaded with 'mac sauce', which tasted amazing. The two beef patties were both cooked well, while still being juicy and tender. The double cheese made the burger deliciously cheesy, and was complemented well with the ketchup and mustard. Their fries on the side did not disappoint - they were hot, crispy and full of flavour. We are both serious Gaytime fans, so we were eager to try this Insta-famous shake. If you have not tried it yet, you need to do so as soon as possible! The shake tastes exactly like the actual ice cream (which is positioned on the shake!), and had the biscuit chunks throughout it. It is very rich, so keep that in mind. We thought it was a great price at $12.50. The prices of their burgers are slightly above average, but the quality of food and service is worth the extra money. After a pleasant experience at Demazzi, we are keen on going back and trying more tasty food in the near future. read more

Roll the dice. Demazzi struggles to provide quality service, and it's a common element of discussion amongst reviewers; we got to experience it firsthand on the windiest day in Melbourne. It's cosy when you walk in, your typical casual dining set. Although empty, the waitress said all tables inside were booked. So we sat outside. Braving the wind was fun, it added to the experience, but we soon came to realise after two hours, inside was still empty, validating concerns of reviewers before about service. We noticed one group demanded to sit inside much to the dismay of staff members (but still accounted for it, but I thought it was all booked?). When we were finally served (waitresses talking amongst themselves rather than serving customers), we ordered the Lucky Mac burger with double beef, double cheese, jalapenos, lettuce, Mac sauce, mustard and ketchup and the Kentucky burger, buttermilk chicken in their secret spices, fried with double cheese, double bacon, jalapenos and their pink sauce all served with fries. We also ordered the Nutella coconut brownie milkshake to share. The Lucky Mac burger was tasty, meat was tender, the sauce was great, but it tries to do too much with the bun breaking apart easily and the taste can get tedious halfway through, still a contender in my eyes. The Kentucky burger is similar, for a chicken burger, it's nice, but didn't quite knock it out of the park with the taste. Needed a bit more sauce, and the chicken could have had more flavour. The fries were nice and crunchy and the Nutella milkshake was delicious, great presentation as you see in the images. Demazzi has a lot more to offer in their menus, lots of burgers and shakes to try, it's expensive, but where the food is concerned, you shouldn't be disappointed (especially the shakes, they nail it there). The service is incredibly lacking, to the point where I can't recommend Demazzi from my experience. We saw a waitress dip her hands in a customer's drink to take a lemon wedge out and then serve it. You had the waitress lie to customers that inside was booked (on Melbourne's windiest day) when no one filled those seats in the 2 hours we were there. We were ignored and didn't receive service for almost half an hour (I had to put my hands up!) while staff talked amongst themselves. Come for the shakes, try the burgers and roll the dice, because the food should grab your attention (especially the shakes). If you experience the terrible service most reviewers talk about, you just might not come again, but on the flip side, if you do experience the service that's standard in this industry, this is a 4 star Yelp establishment. Unfortunately, I rolled the dice, and I was frustrated and disappointed at the service when we came in, a time when Demazzi wasn't busy, they had every opportunity to impress. read more

The decor is very inviting, with nice lighting and cool design. Unfortunately our waitress seemed uninterested and dismissive, making it rather uncomfortable asking simple questions about the menu. After more than an hour waiting for our food, she came back to tell us they had no chicken burgers left, so I settled with the ribs. The entrees came out an hour and twenty minutes after ordering and the mains about 10 minutes later. I wish I could say the food made up for the wait, the entrees were OK, but the ribs weren't the greatest. "Smokey flavour" would be better described as "we found a cooked pig after a bush fire." They came out pitch black and the taste of smoke was way too overpowering. The serving was also a bit small for what you pay. The desert was delicious though, the lava cake was really moist and full of flavour. Being a bit soured by the experience so far, I almost said no to desert, but I'm glad I didn't, because it was the best part of the meal. They were kind enough to give me my meal, plus a few of our sides, for free without us saying anything to them, as an apology for the wait time and for not being able to accommodate my original order, so I assume what happened to us is somewhat out of the ordinary. If you're going to eat here, I would stick away from the ribs, but everything else we had was either acceptable or very nice. read more

I gave Demazzi a shot on a Sunday evening... I have heard that it is always busy and on this occasion it was no different. Attending with a party of 5-6 was quite cramped but even with a booking they managed to 'squeeze' us in. The service here was below average as the staff were generally rude, I understand that they were busy but that is no excuse for the service provided. Some of the orders were incorrect and it seemed impossible to get a jug of water as table service was non existent. However, once the food arrived it was tasteful. The steaks were a big hit as the meat was fresh and juicy. The Golden Gaytime shake was delicious and I would recommend trying one. If they could sort out their staff and service, Demazzi would have 5 star potential... read more

Came here after seeing a good review. Service was appalling took almost 20 min to get table water and another 5 min to order as our server disappeared when we got water. Ordered a Lucky Mac which was still frozen and raw in the middle. For $21.90 I will except waiting for it if it was good but for a raw frozen burger pretty unimpressed. Attended Last night with my nieces and partners. And the service was shocking. It started with a lack of ordering drinks. Then I asked the waitress if the calamari meal could be made without onion and garlic as I have an allergy. The waitress never asked and never came back to tell me. When I ordered my meal I asked to add fetta in my salad and I didn't get it. Then my niece never got her meal. We had finished ours and we couldn't hail down a waitress for a while to tell them 1 meal was never delivered. Then they said they forgot to order it. Then the manager said oh I'll tell her off. My partner had to say well how about free coffees. We had to squeeze it out of them Two meals were stone grill. They ended up being raw and unable to eat. We asked for dessert and we'll $40 fit a dessert platter was expensive and not great. They kept pushing to take it away and we hadn't finished as they wanted to close up at 10pm on a Saturday. We then went to pay and they charged us for coffee. We only had 3. There was 6 of us. We had to tell them to ask the manager to take them off. Not even a discounted meal. Just a rip-off of. Slack experience. I wasn't even able to order another drink. And today I have extreme heartburn. The calamari was super deep fried and full of oil and didn't enjoy the meal at all. Made a reservation for 7pm for the family. Still outside waiting in the rain at 7:20pm. Finally got in and put outside with zero menus, no water. The outside was freezing with the heaters struggling at zero gas. One of the plastic doors was open to allow 2 loud drunks to smoke and plot their week. Place is a joke, left at 7:30pm, after waiting for some staff to get around to the table. Some feedback; -probably best not to have the till next to the door -don't take reservations if you let walk-ins steal tables -fill your gas bottles -maybe don't open the outside patio door when it's pouring outside read more

Mediocre all round. Do not cater for gluten free other than bread. My partner asked for a couple different menu items, only for the waitress to return from the kitchen with a "we don't do that gluten free". Ended up with cardboard toast and scrambled eggs. I went one time and I ordered a Mac burger, it was massive but was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully, I ordered a Oreo milkshake which was full of flavours and was delicious. It came at such a fast pace. The staff treated me well although it was loud and incredibly busy the decor was excellent. I would definitely go here again for a nice burger. The owner is an absolutely lovely lady. The food is also quite nice, the surf & turf being my favourite. Served up on an extremely hot stone slab, your food sizzles on your "plate" while you enjoy stunning views of a very busy round-about featuring bogans with road rage. Can't blame the owners for that though, but it does tend to detract from the ambience and overall experience a bit. read more
