After a long drive I needed to use the facilities (drank too much water on the road I guess), and when I was done the toilet wouldn't flush. The bowl filled with water but wouldn't go down. Called the front desk and in short time I heard a knock on the door. So far so good right? I opened the door and one of the gentlemen from the front desk was there with a plunger in hand and stated that they couldn't find the maintenance worker and with that he offered to me the plunger, along with a friendly "good luck". I froze for a second processing if I was really supposed to plunge the toilet in this hotel room. Apparently the answer was yes. So I took the plunger and the friendly clerk exited quickly. Now I'm not above plunging a toilet, done it many times at my own house. But a paying customer plunging a toilet that he did not plug up? Remember, it was plugged before I even got here. So here I am plunging the plug of a previous guest. Hopefully things improve from here. I will look for an opportunity to ask a manager if this is standard practice at the hotel.
