For a fee, Rockport picks up your garbage, provides water, sewage and natural gas. When things go wrong, they make sure that things get fixed and working in a reasonable amount of time. When Hurricane Harvey came, they worked overtime, tirelessly, non-stop to keep the water flowing, the trash picked up, the sewage lines clear, and everything working as normal when the world was turned upside down with a hurricane. I am quite impressed by the tenacity of the utility department of Rockport- when nearly every power line in the county was down, they helped get things up and running. When the sewers were overcome with sea water and flooding, they worked nonstop to pump it clear of debris to keep things flowing. I owe my gratitude to the Aransas County Utilities District! Thank you for keeping things working!

I receive my paper invoices about 7 days from the day of billing. They allow 16 days from the billing date to pay your bill. So unless you sit down and write a check on the day you receive your bill, you will receive a late fee every month. Recently I tried to pay electronically over the net. However, today I received a notice that one of my bills was past due. I have had nothing but problems with billing and I think it is purposeful in order that you incur late fees every month; but they can advertise a low kilowat rate.

I called 3 different contractors. All 3 used a mapping program to get an estimate of how well solar would work before installation. One company said solar wouldnt work at my house due to shading. They were wrong. the remaining 2 companies send people to my house to do an onsite evaluation to finalize a proposal. Circulars was the one that seemed to fit my needs. My goal was to provide in the neighborhood of 60-70% of my electrical from the sun. Installation wasnt without flaws. the actuall installation took only one days. it turned out there was a problem with teh inverters that took a couple of weeks to correct. It wasnt the fault of circular but was an inverter specific issue. Circular stayed on top of teh problem and got it resolved. after operating for 4 month my utility came out and said there was a problem,in that I had the wrong meter and no agreement with the utility. this was something I ahd though circular had taken care of. It turns out that the agreement WAS in place and the utility had misplaced it. Thats why the utility hadnt replaced my meter. They came out and met a circular rep and the meter installation took only a couple of minutes. Again I cant fault circular for someone elses issue. Getting solar installed isnt a simple process. there are many steps that have to be gone through. Try email again and no reply. The reason for the review is they want your business but they don't take care of you in the long run.

Currently we will be going on day 3 with sewer backed up. The whole house smells of sewer. I have cleaned up the backed up sewage but we have been calling the police department because they are the point of contact after hours. No city manager no chief of police no higher officials are available with our complaint. Only the dispatcher from police department. This is a hazard but no one seems to think so. We called Friday evening one city worker came out he couldn't fix the issue and just left after we called to see what was going on we were told that he would be back in the morning with me help. But in the morning he showed up alone (my husband even went outside to offer him help) well after the hose shot back back him is when he decided to call for more help. All day Saturday they worked on it and we were told it was fixed but to give it 2hours for the sewer water to go down. We waited and still nothing; we still had sewer water back up in our back yard. So we called police department back and we were told the city will not be back until tomorrow. So 3 days we have no restrooms and sewer water still backed up our whole house smelling of sewer. When we first moved here I needed the utilities transferred to our name. The ladies at city hall would not work with us to have that done so our family member had to miss a whole day of work just to come sign and I had to go sign as well to have utilities transferred. Well while I was there I asked for an extra trash can and the lady says well I would get it the following week either Tuesday or Friday because a different company delivers the trash can not the city of Mathis. I was ok with that well the following week no trash can was delivered so I called city hall to see what was going on with the trash can she tells me she had to check her email and puts me on hold. I was on hold for over an hour. After about 1hour n 15mins I called city hall from different line and the same lady picks up and apologized I was told the the line doesn't ring back but she could see I was still on hold. My question is if she sees me on hold why not pick up the line? Well she apologies and mysteriously I get my extra trash can (not on a Tuesday or Friday) within the hour. Also with the move we had extra expenses so we called for an extension on our water bill. We just needed a few extra days (4days to be exact) and we were told no so we had to figure a way to pay our bill or get disconnected. I have never lived in a city like this. If I could I would run from here. I just can't believe this city doesn't care if their citizens live in sewer water and with no restroom for over 3 days. This is not acceptable!

Did you know that they used to have a wall all the way around this city to keep out bad guys? They'd have to let the trains in and out of the city through gates in the wall. This city is the last real city before you get to Lake Corpus Christi. So it's a good spot to stock up on provisions before heading out to the lake. They've got everything you need here- a grocer, taquerias, a mechanic, a boxing studio. Nice.
