Since moving out of NJ, this has been my hotel of choice when returning. It's far enough from everything while being close to all the major roads to get to everything. The restaurant/bar is always buzzing. I haven't experienced it personally but I can tell it's a go to place for others. The staff are always so incredibly kind and responsive and accommodating. I've not had a bad experience yet. And the day I booked and needed to arrive early the same day, my room was available immediately. This is the place to be!

I would give this place 10 starts if I could. I forgot to do mobile check in due to me arriving…read morebefore 3pm. When I arrived the front desk let me check in with no problem. Very clean hotel inside and outside, they have a bar ,drinks were great. Complementary breakfast is every morning. There is a fire pit outside with seating. The rooms are equipped with a couch/ sofa bed. A table to set up your laptop if you're here for business, a microwave and refrigerator is provided. I completely forgot to take pictures of the room due to being on the go. Smh! There is a gym and inside pool. Next door there is a restaurant, I didn't get a chance to dine in but I will next time I come back .

Gym available Inside pool (But, read below) Now for the price some things needs to be taken care off properly like the room, almost broken toilet paper holder, things on carpet. This is not acceptable. The inside pool is nice but it is like ice cold and then there is no shower place either before or after shower. The breakfast is free and the Egyptian person managing is also great but there is no toast available. I was told Marriott have removed toast from all their hotel chain breakfast menus. That's so weird!!! Why would you do that? I expected this to be better than days inn or comfort inn but sadly it's not and the only thing different is the price.

Would definitely stay here again if I ever travel through Jersey again. Room was clean and the first one we stayed in during the week with an in-room coffeemaker - definitely a plus! The hotel overall was dated but the room was clean and affordable. Can't complain. Thanks

I am sorry to be writing this. Truly. The staff at the DoubleTree in Somerset are as fine and…read morehardworking a collection of people as you could ever hope to meet. The two young women at the front desk who checked me in were patient, cheerful, and far more professional than the setting deserved. Every bartender, housekeeper, and maintenance worker I encountered seemed to care. They smiled, they helped, they tried. But the hotel itself feels like a tired old animal that wants to lie down and not get up again. The carpets are worn to the color of defeat, the furniture bears scars that tell too many stories, and the bathrooms are so dated that one half expects to find a rotary phone beside the toilet. Mold creeps in at the edges, as mold always does when no one can quite afford to keep it out. Half the television channels work, depending on the phase of the moon, and which half are the functioning half varies by the minute. The meeting rooms, which must have once been proud places of corporate ambition, now feel like basements dressed up for a sad party. The chairs wobble. The microphones hum. The food, both in the restaurant and in the conference meals, tastes as though it has been waiting in a freezer since the first Clinton administration. The same tired buffet appears every year, as predictable as gravity, and the boxed lunches inspire no one. One of my colleagues got trapped in an elevator. It took the engineering team to pry her and a handful of Junior League hockey players out, and the emergency call speaker crackled like a ghost from a dying transistor radio. What makes this review hard to write is that none of this is the fault of the people who work there. They are doing their best in a place that has been abandoned by the gods investment. If the ownership put half the care into the property that the employees put into their jobs, this could be a wonderful hotel. As it stands, it is my least favorite conference center by a wide margin, and that is saying something. Still, I hope the staff know they are appreciated. They deserve a better stage than this one.

My room was clean, organized and saddled with all amenities for our stay, coffee, tea, refrigerator, microwave and fancy flower topped toiletries, ie. tissues, towels, etc. A+ The atmosphere was tropical and delightful and the place had a wonderful, clean fresh air smell. The breakfast buffet was organized, tasty and had a complete compliment of breakfast foods plus made to order omelettes, should we want one. I had 2 omelettes on my second day,one with onions and one without and both were delicious! A+ The pool and hot tub were also clean, stocked, and we enjoyed our time relaxing at both of these. A+ We had a lovely dinner at the inhouse restaurant. And even though the menu was small, we ordered a variety from the Salmon dinner, to Quesadillas to Chicken/plain pizza and onion rings and chicken wings and Every single dish was Delicious . A+ Thank you Embassy suite staff for making my daughter, and our friends and my long overdue mini vacation at huge success!

The front desk personnel are uninviting too--not welcoming or pleasant. We had a large suite, but surfaces were dented, scratched, and in need painting. Carpets were worn and totally threadbare in places. The kitchen area had no utensils or plates. It was only good for making coffee. There was no bedside table on one side of the bed which meant there was no surface to put anything on and no lamp. Towels were thin and poor quality. We were looking forward to using the pool with our grandson, but the water was frigid, making it impossible to go in. The lounges had disgusting, filthy cushions. I shudder to think how many years of sweat have accumulated on them. The spa was closed the whole weekend we visited. It's overall a sad, old hotel.

It did not collapse, which felt like an appropriate baseline. The lobby tries very hard. High ceilings, a sense of occasion, the faint suggestion that important people once gathered here to discuss important things. Then you reach the room and the illusion loosens its tie. I had a corner king. It was enormous. Vast, even. You could host a small philosophy class in there, Socratic circle and all. Unfortunately, the room looked like it had already hosted several and lost all of the debates that happened there. The furniture was worn, the decor dated, and everything felt just a little too tired to argue back. In the elevator, an older gentleman joined me. He looked around, nodded once, and said, "this place sure isn't what it used to be." Then he got off. I believed him immediately. The hotel exists in a very convenient location, which is clearly its greatest strength. You can walk to restaurants, to the university, to the train station, to wherever it is you need to be. But convenience is not the same as comfort. Service feels inconsistent. Sometimes friendly, sometimes distracted, as if everyone is working from slightly different instructions. The amenities are a gamble. Some are limited, some unavailable, some simply not what you expected when you booked. There are also fees that appear with a quiet confidence, including valet parking that loudly reminds you your car now belongs to a system larger than yourself. Nothing here is terrible in isolation. That is the trick. It is all just a bit off. Slightly worn. Slightly overpriced for what you get. And so you leave with the feeling that you visited a memory rather than a hotel. A place that still stands, still functions, but no longer quite believes in itself.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites North Brunswick seems content to drift somewhere in the middle, like a tired commuter floating down Route 1. I arrived around 4:00 PM last weekend to find the lobby empty except for one poor soul already hollering "Hello!" into the void like a man trying to contact the dead. By the time an employee emerged from the back room, four parties had formed a small, weary congregation around the front desk. Not the warmest beginning. To her credit, the woman who checked me in was genuinely pleasant. She acknowledged my Platinum status and upgraded us to a suite without my asking, which ended up as less of a luxury and more like being handed the least bruised apple in the barrel. Still, kindness counts. The suite itself was another matter. Nothing horrifying. No crime scene outlines or raccoons operating the ice machine. Just a general sense of neglect. Dingy carpets, worn furniture, the sort of room that makes you wonder how many rolling suitcases and defeated business travelers have passed through before you. The next morning around 10:15, I went downstairs hoping for coffee strong enough to convince me civilization was still worth preserving. Only decaf remained. I attempted to inform the gentleman at the front desk, but he was deeply committed to a personal cell phone conversation and seemed unwilling to let his job duties interrupt it. Nothing terrible happened here. Nothing memorable either. It is a hotel that exists, nothing more and nothing less. Three stars.
