Let me begin by saying, I was really hopeful my for the best. Based on the reviews I was sure we…read morewould be using this cute little place as a "meet in the middle" for our family. However. Our evening turned out like this. It was 5:30pm we entered the restaurant and stood patiently in the family dining area . No one came. We sent a scout to the bar upstairs. He came down and told us that we could bring the 8 year old up if we sat in the hallway but it seated 4. Our scout carried a chair upstairs for our 5th party. We waited another 8 min. No one came . After 10 min. We prepared to leave . A server said, " are you leaving?". Yes! And we left. This was a Friday night experience. The server was there by herself. She was intending to cook-serve and bar tend. I wish this place the best. It's adorable. Since I can't judge the food or really the service, my suggestion is to call ahead and see if they are staffed and ready.

Called ahead to make a reservation- not needed but Donna was super nice and we had a good laugh…read morewhen we walked into this awesome spot. It looks like a great place for a wedding reception. Quaint quiet town! The reception area is large and the depot is fantastic Just found out that a band plays here every Thursday. I bet this place will be hopping. Seriously, I wish we were sticking around longer- ordered the bean soup - husband says it's hot and good. Salmon sandwiches and steak burger. Side options are chips or applesauce. The food smells great while we wait. Pop is flat. Beer is cold. Water is wet. Gnat season is in full swing. Food is good. Nothing to ring a bell over but a solid dinner while traveling on 30. Just a mile off the highway!! Would I come back - sure, nothing but miles behind me and more in front of me to make this place a super spot for us to have made a reservation!!!

This controversial mural is the work of The Droops, an Indianapolis-based artist collective who…read morewere commissioned by The Spot to do the piece in 2015. It located on the side of the Spot and overlooks their parking lot. It takes up 2 sections of the bar's side wall. The mural is in great shape but as you can see in the photos, its lower park is obstructed by parked vehicles. It is a collogue of random images that include a guillotine, a beer on a folding chair, a tombstone, a skull, a in a bikini with four eyes holding a beer up, a knife, a clown, a bomb, a trumpet, a cigarette butt, a foot, a face being punched by a fist, a hand holding a knife, and an odd character holding a beer while playing a piano. The mural also depicts a naked woman tied to a tree and male genitalia in between a hotdog bun, which caused quite a site as you can imagine. There were calls by the community to have the offensive piece removed, covered up or fenced off. The change.org petition ended with 20 supporters. At one point the Lafayette police issued a warning that artwork was violation of the city's graffiti ordinance. There was a point during all of this that they used a Mike Pence head (who was governor at the time) to cover the male genitalia. Ultimately, the Spot won and the city decided that the mural was not graffiti and did not meet the criteria for a citation. The mural is standing today. Even though there are a lot of images to digest. The artwork is very nice. This is a provocative piece that definitely generates conversation. You can deiced for yourself what your thoughts on the piece are. Parking to get a closer look at the mural is easy, even though it overlooks a parking lot, the lot is kind of tight. There is however, some free parking pretty close to the mural too. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There of tons of murals to check out in the immediate area.

On weekends it can get packed and they open up the dance area with loud music. The vibe is still good, just a lot more going on. They normally don't have tvs in there, but will set it up for local games. Live the IU championship run, Colts. Service was great. We initially ordered at the bar, but they came and checked in on us while we were hanging out which was appreciated. Will def be back for some old fashions. They also had mocktails where you could make California sober with a shot of THC.

I guess I just want every cocktail bar to be dimly lit and speak easy adjacent vibes. Turns out they aren't all that way. It is a smart design. Large and cozy chairs that you can really sit back and relax in! Fun to have windows into the operation. Service: Still unclear if you are meant to order at the bar or if the bartender also serves. The bartender that night took our order from our chairs but wasn't very attentive even when they appeared to not be busy. I realize there is a lot happening behind the scenes we aren't always privy to. So just fine service - nothing negative or over the top. Cocktails: Yes, please. I always think I'm not a bourdon drinker but then I get a bourbon drink and I question my identity and knowing. I ordered a fall fresh drink that I don't currently see on the menu! Gahhh. I thought they mentioned it was always on there. Well regardless it was a 10/10 and had the right amount of zing and not too sweet. I also had an espresso martini which is delish! Peep the Yelp love on the menu! I will always support a place that has NA options for my sober friends! I hadn't had dinner so I ordered the pulled pork nachos. The queso was orange and I'm partial to blanco queso forever and always amen. The pork wasn't smoked so what's the point, really? The jalapeños were fresh and bringing the heat. They were okay but wouldn't get them again. I'll go to half liter for my fix. Will I return? Absolutely.
