Only negative is that as the only black family out there the kids tennis program manager Melissa told me that toddlers younger than 3 can't play but allowed her friends kids to do it while watching my daughter sit on the sideline and couldn't play the entire summer. I've discovered something after 10+ years living in Indiana. And that is: A lot of people in…read moreIndiana love basketball. It's true, it's true. So it would make sense that a facility dedicated to the state's favorite sport would be awesome. Pacers Athletic Center is a huge basketball facility with eight courts. This is where basketball camps, practices and tournaments are held, and it's located inside the Grand Park campus in Westfield. Apparently, volleyball is also played at this facility, too. I thought that maybe this is where the Pacers practice, but no -- it's just named after the team. I was visiting Pacers Athletic Center to cover a basketball camp that was led by Tyrese Haliburton. In case you're disconnected from basketball like I am: Tyrese Haliburton plays for the Pacers, and he is a big deal! He's a good basketball player. He's also a pretty good person, because he puts on kids' basketball camps here in Indy and in his home state of Wisconsin. This facility was a good venue for this camp, because it had more than enough room to hold the more than 300 kids and their parents, basketball players, staff and other people involved in the event. There's an upstairs overlook (the Pacers Fan Zone) with lots of tables and chairs, and it's a nice, out-of-the-way place to get a 360-degree look at all of the courts. There's also a snack bar, vending machines and lots of space to walk around. The parking lot is big, but depending on the event and the time, parking can be a little iffy.

I'm not sure where they find the referees, but I'd say 8 out of 10 have absolutely no idea what…read morethey are doing. And the fact that the PAC allows them to continue reffing is beyond me. Kids are constantly being hurt and refs are not making the calls because they are underpaid and overworked, so they want to get home. Or the refs say "they are only in 1st grade...etc" how will children ever learn if you allow them to continuously foul, travel, double dribble etc? Or you just have refs that referee like this is street ball. They have some amazing coaches. But be very careful when you are paying your thousands of dollars for your child or children to play. They advertise all coaches have played or coached at the high school, college or pro level. But that in fact is false. You can end up with a coach who has no experience listed anywhere online, no high-school stats, but went to college and got a degree in sports media. A coach whose teams are beat by 60+ points and no in game adjustments are ever made. And I know everyone has to start somewhere but I'd recommend a coach with no experience start off in a bite size league for 3 & 4 year olds. Coach Mike and Coach Ajay though 10/10. Pros. You can look them up and see all of their achievements. Absolutely amazing coaches and know what they are doing.

I'm somewhat of a regular to IUPUI men's basketball games for quite a few years now. This is my…read morefirst time commenting on their very humble facilities for a NCAA Division I school. Their sports are for profit in the over all institution of a non-for-profit school and hospital complex. I just wonder how the heck they expect to turn one in that 1960's era gymnasium. It kind of feels like I'm watching high school all-stars here and you don't actually appreciate sometimes that these guys are big time hoopers, if not hoops stars. They've made some nice upgrades to the seats to make actual, well, seats, replacing the old gymnasium style stands. They still fold up and go against the wall. They don't seem like they were desinged for anyone over average weight. I haven't seen any of them break, but they will bend and groan every once in a while. IUPUI is an intersting team to watch play men's basketball. The frenetic pace of Coach Ron Hunter's constant motion offense, his animated barking and pacing on the sideline, and the barrage of three point shots make this type of team more like Loyala Marymount circa1989, but actually playing defense. (Anyone remember Paul Westhead's defensiveless Denver Nuggets experiement?) The interesting thing about Coach Hunter is he very rarely goes after the officials, but constantly after his players for putting themselves in position to make a referee a factor of the game. He believes that perfect execution is possible and he gets after players for being out of position, not understanding the situation, and taking poor shots. You will quickly get yanked out of a game, and if you're in his doghouse, forget about playing time till next year. I saw a freshman named George Hill who got his first action of the season (as a true freshman) and got pulled in less than two minutes because of what most would call a freshman mistake (a turnover of some sort I can't recall the specifics.) He never got back in that game until the second half. He eventually made it to the NBA. Made a boatload of money. The biggest annoyance, and borderline ripoff, that IUPUI athletics should seriously reconsider, is the fact that you pay for parking in a pretty old and cold garage and walkway. Granted, it is just three dollars this year, but I have paid as much as ten in the past. I thought at the time that that some of the parking attendants might be pocketing some of the money because there was no parking sticker or receipt issued to me until this year, and the attendents are different and in uniform. Anyway, paying for parking is a deterrent for someone to attend a basketball game. I would choose a place to park for free, i.e. the city streets near Hinkle Fieldhouse to watch a game given the admission prices were roughly the same (plus they have an awe inpiring venue.) Also, another deterrent for me is the price of their concessions. The prices are waaay out of line for the quality of their food. Yes the hot dogs are big, but not four dollars big. And $3.50 for a dasani is highway robbery. Here's the real kicker: They sell candy at the concession stand, but the candy in the vending machines around the corner is about half of what they charge. Popcorn is outrageously expensive whether at a theater or ball game, so I don't really flinch at that price. But there is no way that two hot dogs, popcorn, M&M's and Dasani should have set me back $18.50!?!?! So much for father and daughter time on the cheap. Unfortunately, in cold, snowy Indiana, basketball is the only thing we have to keep us sane. So to keep my wits and because of my genuine love of college basketball I will continue to pay through the nose to go to games. But maybe my frequency will be reduced until many of the small and mediocre college's realize that making money at college athletics at the expense of athletes' bodies really is a (socially) poor business model.

I found the staff to be helpful and determined to assist me with any questions I had. The prices were competitive and affordable. It was a difficult search to find another school we were happy with when we had to move due to career circumstances.

I asked the director about this and expressed my discomfort with the guns in the school. The director confirmed that she had give permission to certain parents to carry their guns in the school, and she had no intention to tell them to stop. The GUN FREE ZONE sign was removed from the door of the preschool they are no longer being deceptive about not allowing guns in the school.

All teachers are caring and kind, our son really loved miss Amy and miss Kim. Never had any issues with school employees, other kids. All directors are understanding and helful. School has nice but fun program, kids were dancing and singing but learning stuff everyday. School has a lot of toys, keeps kids busy all the time.
