We ended up selecting our a couple of our appetizers and main courses from that very same appointment. She also offers a diverse and extensive range of menu options and is very flexible with her clients' requests, making it easy to find something that suits your taste buds. During our wedding planning process, my husband and I agreed that food was amongst the top 3 important things to execute for our special day, and Chef Bianca went above and beyond our expectations. From early tasting appointment, to email communication and phone call follow-ups, she was patient, professional and very sweet! She also offered us valuable insight and gave us some advice as well when we were stuck on deciding our appetizers. For us, it was really important finding a chef that brings their own unique flavor and style to their food, as well as being able to highlight a lot of the island's flavors. Overall, everything was a hit! From the the cocktail appetizers, salad, main courses and cupcakes! We even got tons of compliments on the bread. So many of our guests kept raving to us about the food; even some kids who are naturally picky eaters enjoyed everything. We can't thank Bianca and her team enough for catering our special day. On the day of the dinner party, she arrived on time and started cooking. We had 8 adults and a 5yo. My son really liked Kelly. She let him help make a small cheese pizza for himself and didn't mind that he was in the kitchen asking her questions from time to time. The adults had lemongrass shrimp skewers, green tea salmon, roasted chicken, plus vegetables and rice. Dessert was a fruit plate (at our request to accommodate some of the guest's dietary restrictions). I thought the fruit plate would be boring but we were wrong. It was actually quite beautiful and delicious. She managed to find the sweetest mangoes that everyone clamored for. I forgot to take photos of all the food. The second event was a kids birthday party. We had the food delivered for this one. The food arrived on time and all we had to do was reheat some of it in the oven. We had an extra large charcuterie box, a box of tea sandwiches, and garlic noodles. We chose the menu to cater to a kindergartner's taste, but the adult guests seemed to love the food as well. I got multiple compliments about the charcuterie box. The Nutella and strawberry tea sandwiches went quickest. My favorite was the truffled egg sandwich. We also had ham and chicken. I ordered their Thanksgiving holiday box, and it exceeded my expectations! What you get from Kau Kau Box is a box (obvi) of chef-prepared meals, plus local eggs, fish, and produce. Vegetarian meals are available, too. There are pickups available for Tuesdays and Saturdays, each with different menus. You can purchase a subscription to save $$ or just purchase individual boxes as you need them. It has been on my radar screen for a while now, but I finally took the plunge, and I'm hooked. Pickup at Ala Moana was super easy. I drove up, gave them my name, opened my trunk, and was back on the road within seconds. The pickup location is off Atkinson, and it's easiest if you drive down Atkinson toward Ala Moana Blvd - the entrance is on your right, with Kau Kau Box signs to guide you. If you turn up Atkinson from Ala Moana, you have to make an awkward series of turns to get there. Delivery is also available for an additional fee. For Thanksgiving, the box $134 + tax) included 4 slices of roast turkey breast, 4 giant bone-in pork chops, mashed potatoes with caramelized onions, a savory bread pudding with butternut squash and manchego cheese - an elevated stuffing, turkey gravy, cranberry-orange sauce, spiced apple chutney, challah bread, jus for the pork, pumpkin crunch, a chunk of nairagi fish, 2 heads of lettuce, freshly-made croutons, cherry tomatoes, 2 avocados, 2 papaya, a butternut squash, and a dozen medium eggs. We are a family of 3 (2 adults, one 6yo), and this box has fed us for days. We got Thanksgiving dinner and Friday lunch out of the turkey, bread pudding, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, and challah (I added some brussels sprouts). We got 2 dinners from the pork chops and salad/croutons (I added some mac and cheese). A couple breakfasts of avocado toast and papaya from the leftover challah and avocados (um, and also the pumpkin crunch). I still have the butternut squash to cook, and I stashed the fish in the freezer for later because I knew we'd already have days of food with everything else. When I opened the box, it seemed like way more than I was expecting. Everything comes in containers or vacuum-sealed packages for reheating. There are also instructions on reheating everything, so if you're not sure what should go together, you have help. Everything was labeled with best-by dates for both the fridge and the freezer. The menu and instructions also included a recipe for deviled eggs. Everything tasted so fresh and well-prepared, even the things I just microwaved. I LOVE to cook, and I cook at home most everyday, but this pandemic has just burned me out. I've been trying to limit my trips out and about, and planning meals 2-3 weeks in advance is a lot of mental labor. So I really appreciate meals that I don't have to think really hard about - maybe just a side here and there - and can be heated without hours of prepwork in the kitchen. Especially helpful for long days. And, maybe most importantly, it's all been delicious.

So tonight at our BIG meeting, we all got to meet Victoria and we each had a slice to enjoy.
