This place is nice and cozy and the tuna and Italian are two of the best. My children love the Clinton.

We had breakfast here three mornings in a row, even delaying our departure from München until they were open on the third morning just to have one last good cappuccino and another of the [honestly advertised as being 'crunchy as hell'] custard-filled sfogliatelle. Deliciously-filled cornettos [similar to croissants, but Italian] were inhaled all three mornings [the pistachio in particular looks like avocado cream but tastes delicious] while we otherwise swapped between hearty breakfast bagels [I recommend the pretzel and the za'atar ones in particular] and filled pitas [the antipasto is probably the best of those] toasted in the panini press. Coversation, if desired while you sip coffee and nom baked goods al banco, comes in German, Italian, and English, which made for an entertaining jumble in the mornings that I already miss. When I go back to catch Octoberfest some year, I'll pop in to say hello... and have another cornetto.

Owing to its sidestreet location, abundance of window plants, friendly service, and the contrast of shiny metal coffee implements couched among wooden tables, this place feels like a little vacation. The back room has a large French window that opens into a green courtyard, perfect for finding one's peace and calm, say, to work on a dissertation (print shop just across the street) or simply to decompress. The bagels are not New York Style, but rather are a little more bready. That said, the bagel sandwiches are tasty in their own right. So while I can't say that you'll get an authentic bagel (NY obviously being the benchmark), I can say that you'll have a tasty little breakfast/lunch/snack. They also offer an assortment of cakes that look pretty good. They were out of plain bagels when I got there in early afternoon, so I contented myself with an onion bagel. My accompaniment was happy with her parmesan bagel. I had ordered the Salmon bagel, and it was indeed full of cream cheese and lox goodness, which I washed down with the complementary water set out in a pitcher. Ahhhh...yum. Time to go again.

It's a little outside Altstadt but it was worth the detour. This particular cafe is small and cozy and it also attracts lots of locals which is nice to see. The woman who served us was very friendly and when she saw that neither my friend or I spoke German she kindly helped us decipher the menu. I ordered a smoked salmon bagel and a slice of German-style apple pie. The bagel wasn't the best but as a Montrealer I must admit that I am very picky about bagels. The pie on the other hand was very fresh and delicious. I also ordered a glass of juice that they must have made themselves because it didn't seem too sugary like store bought juice can be. I am pretty sure that it had kiwi and orange juice in it but I am not sure what else. This cafe turned out to be a great find and the prices were very reasonable. Sadly I am back home in Canada right now so I can't return here but if I was still in Munich I would most definitely come back.

It was a charming little place and Ida was friendly. We had quiches twice, which tasted very healthy (not much salt), but still delicious. Their orange banana smoothie was the best part of the breakfast. We also enjoyed their home made yogurts (mango flavor and strawberry).

The space and atmosphere are intimate and cute. The woman who helped me (possibly the owner?) seemed a bit flustered, and admittedly it added to my embarrassment in not being able to speak German as I felt like a bit of an inconvenience. I asked for a traditional German breakfast and was given the Weisswurst and pretzel. FYI - apparently you don't eat the sausage skin-on; you can, but it's considered very touristy. The wurst didn't seem to have a ton of flavor, but whatever, it was my first breakfast in Germany, and when in Rome. The pretzel on the other hand was amazing. So much more flavor and care obviously goes into them than the street pretzels in New York I'm used to. Another FYI - it's standard to tip 10%, and often you have to ask for this to be out in the card before they charge you. However, the woman said they can't do this here, and you must tip in cash, which I didn't have. The woman was not too pleased about this, so do be sure to have cash when you go in. All in all it seems like a very charming place - by the time I left it was filled with locals. I'd like to go back again sometime knowing the things I now do.

Nice coffee with in the normal price range of coffee in Munich. I have yet to eat here, however what I have seen with the few times that I have been here is good quality and nice selection. It does remind me of something that you would find in NYC, which makes me really want to try the bagel selection that they do have here. Great staff, good seating for groups, and nice out door seating when the weather is at its best.
