The lack of basic patient care equipment is unbelievable. It's a sad sad time when companies get away bleeding the elderly of all funds by telling the family they don't qualify for end of life care but they only have 24-48 at the most to live. I have watched my best friend be told her Mother was in Respiratory failure but was never put on oxygen. She developed a pressure sore (open sore) and 4 days later was told that it had healed....not. She was not turned frequently "because she just falls back over". They had to ask for an egg crate mattress! I could go on but it's just more of the same. As a retired hospice professional myself, I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of care we received. Our nurse, Veronica, was excellent - knowledgeable, caring, respectful. The aide (CNA) was very good, and was able to bathe and wash my mother's hair without causing pain/discomfort. Although we did not require much of their services, our social worker (Barb) and chaplain (Kay) were sensitive, comforting, and knowledgeable, and we would have readily turned to them if we'd needed them. Even during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, we knew we could count on BAYADA to be responsive to our needs.
