Honestly, I have no idea how this place has a 4 star review. I can only assume it's friends and family. We always try to sit at the bar since this is where you get attentive service and get to chat with the bartender to find the hidden gems in the area. Nope, not here. We ordered one round of drinks and the bartender never looked our way again. He was quick to take care of the walk up customers, but never took the time to take care of the folks actually sitting at the bar. Couple after couple continued to walk out. There are plenty of great options in Bruges, but Delaney's isn't one of them. Hard pass. read more

I'm in an IRISH bar and plan on being over served, but in reality I cannot even be served? WTH! We tried many times to get someone's, I mean anyone's attention? Nope! I ordered a burger, and the one I got was ok. Not wow and not bad, but not in any way above average. My companion got fish and chips and was happy with that. We ordered apple pie for desert..both came out half warm, half cold. Underwhelming. And the custard was ice cold. But, it was ok priced. The service is... Well, don't expect anyone to come to you. Go grab them, and they're super friendly, but they're not gonna come to you. As for ambience, this is where the place shines. The music is well thought out, loud enough without being extreme. The live music is really good and the place generally has a super good vibe to it. A bonus is that the toilets were clean, and during the day its child friendly. They also allow dogs. I would definitely go back to have a beer (they have a good selection), and for sports enthusiasts wanting to catch a game it's perfect. But go for the vibe, not the food or service read more

If you need proof that the service industry is dead then Delaney's is a must visit. The bar tender is not only impatient, but is also rude to every customer, sometimes even insulting. The food is what you would expect from bar food - not great, but fairly inexpensive. I ordered the lamb burger and the Irish Stew, both of which were just alright. Luckily, this place has many television screens, so if you are going to watch a football game its a decent spot. Just avoid speaking to the bartender. read more

I wanted a real breakfast but woke up late and everyone was having mussels by then. I stumbled, almost literally on a cobblestone, in front of Delaney's. Now when I'm in a foreign country I usually eschew anything but the local cuisine to experience what they eat. Which is a long way of saying I would never come here. But then I saw the "Brunch Until 4:00" sign. My prayer answered. A full on English breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, potato cakes and baked beans mercifully separated into its own boat. Well, we have been traveling in Europe for 3 1/2 weeks, and a few times a week we like to sit at the bar for dinner, chat with others tourists and locals alike. Tonight we had the absolute worst service we have had so far. We sat at the bar. It was not busy at all at the time, maybe 3 other people at the bar and the restaurant less than 1/3 full. We watched as 2 other couples came in, stood at the bar, and were served drinks before anyone ever looked our way. I finally got up and asked if we could order. We put our order in from a gal we never saw again. We never got our order from her, and finally after more time, we asked another gal if we could get our water and our beer. The male bartender checked his phone then took a cigarette break and we still were barely talked to. I was really looking forward to this place as it was recommended by a local. What a shame that what was going to be fun night out turned into not wanting to have more than 1 beer and not ordering much food because we were not given any attention by the staff, it took (during and after his smoke break and checking of his phone) to finally find out what the soup of the day was. I wa going to order the Shepards pie but no one came back and took any additional orders or checked on us, so we decided to leave instead of having to work so hard just to order the minimal. We even had to get up and go to the cash register to ask if we could pay. Very bad service, which as you know, doesn't make beer or food taste very good. Don't waste your time. Lovely looking large bar full of wooden tables and barrels. One end of the pub looks quite different from the other and it really seems to work. I received at least 25% more beer than I was paying for so well worth the wait for the barrel to be changed. And I went for a local beer! (Brugse Triple for under 3 pounds!) Even without the bonus Brugse, the prices were quite reasonable..for Bruges. Mostly you pay a bit extra for your Irish around the world, but apart from the imported Guinness and Kilkenny this was not the case here.. I know some people have strong feelings against Irish pubs abroad but before I came here I was beginning to fear that I would never again see service with a smile. If when in Bruges you need a break from being looked at like you are something the bartender just trod in, come here. Music mix was interesting too. Music I can only describe as 'slow Irish laments' and modern tunes taking it in turns, the former being by far the better. read more

It's a nice looking restaurant with plenty of Celtic artifacts dressing up the walls, nooks and crannies. It's an Irish pub, a big one as they have lots and lots of tables. We sat by a fireplace which was nice and cheery. It tool awhile to get a menu and even longer for someone to give our order to. There seemed to be enough staff but they seemed disorganized. The only thing Irish on the menu was Irish stew which I ordered. They had an extensive selection of beers which all the bars, cafes and restaurants in Bruges seem to have. When the food finally arrived my stew was disappointingly bland. My companions spicy chicken sandwich came out well. It took awhile to get the check and pay up. It was a blah experience in an otherwise nice looking restaurant in an exceptionally beautiful city. read more

It might seem odd that we would want to eat at an Irish pub while in Belgium, but we walked past here and the menu offered a veggie hamburger. After a few days of eating nothing but Fritjes and fried meat, I wanted something vegetarian. Delaney's had a veggie burger and a good beer selection, plus it was relatively tourist-free (I know, hypocritical tourists we are!). VERY large hearty meals, somewhat scattered service (which is pretty much what we faced in almost every restaurant we ate while in Belgium), and laid back vibe. read more

This Irish pub is also a restaurant, which looks pretty good but I got here late in the evening and just got a beer and sat outside. The building is quite big and on weekends is opened very late and is very noisy, which is a pain if you're staying in the hotel next to it. But I do like the place; very comfortable and a nice place to relax and have a beer. read more

Do not fear the appearance of this Irish pub. Yes, it does look like a place that only serves beer and possibly crummy bar food, but you will be pleasantly surprised with some of the best food in Belgium. Although our waitress was running around because of the sudden rush of patrons, she gave us great service. I wish I knew her name so I could recommend a raise. We had a couple deliriums while we waited for our food. I made the vegan rookie mistake of not asking if their was sauce on the portabello mushroom burger, but she fixed it right away. My fiance's soup was awesome (carrot and tomato I believe), my burger was great, and the meat grille was good except for the pork ( according to her brother, you know I wouldn't eat that ). The fries were nothing to write home about, but the salad with grilled goat cheese was amazing according her. A good choice for expats. Went in for lunch and some celtic cider. Being two Aussies outside of the Commonwealth, we were in need of a good fish & chips, and a good burger. They will deliver on both fronts. The meat is rich and lean, the fish are on the small side, but well-fried and delicious. The tartare and the aiolis both satisforially rich - by aioli, I mean the creamy type useful for chip-dipping and not the spanish-kind. What I do not understand is the pea mash that came with my fish and chips: it's recognisably the pea part of pea and ham soup. Who eats that stuff alone? In terms of service, our lunch time was practically deserted, so we needed to call the barman over to get things going - the entrance is not visible to the bar. The bartenders here are such sweethearts. We called them fairly late because it was the start of American football season and we wanted somewhere to drink and watch the game. Despite them being totally dead they stayed open and let us come in to drink and watch Football. We had a few shots and beers and got to see about 3/4 of the game before they closed up shop. It was so nice of them to let us hang while they closed down the bar. Cheers! read more

We went here while in the town to watch the soccer game. It seemed like a great spot to be. Crowd was pretty quiet for the euro football but it was also a restaurant. very spacious and had plenty of beers to choose from. I felt like i was back in ireland so that was a great feeling. They carried Kilkenny beers and a few others. I enjoyed a nice pint of Guiness and watched the game! read more

We walked past this place a couple of times thinking huh? Finally ventured in and got chatting to our cheery Irish bartender. My first reaction was holy heck they have mangers and lucozade!!!! Delicious! My boyfriend and I visited Brugge and this place was like eating at a pub at home. The waitstaff was nice, but not really attentive. I feel that abroad everyone takes their time. I think we (Americans) just do everything too fast. Also when we walked in, there was no hostess. It was awkward waiting for someone to say something. I got the fish and chips which were delicious and he got the ribs special, which was also delicious! Great find! read more

Have been in Amsterdam three days and now Bruges for two and this is the best Guinness pint I've had - and I've had many. The inside of this place is very nice and clean. Great Bar! Just watch out for locals who descend upon your table at the end of the night and act like your best friends. One of them followed us back as we were walking to our hotel. Luckily, our B&B entrance had a camera and motion sensor light that came on and the robber would not come around the corner and show his face on camera. We got into our entrance just in time. Just happened upon this place after being turned away elsewhere for being late. I couldn't be happier we had the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The service was great ... Very friendly.
