For staying at a timeshare, I got a coupon for a free Solvang souvenir tote at Del Sol. Walked in and surprisingly it was busy. Now for those of you not familiar with the Del Sol product, it's pretty much the hyper-color gear back in the 80s. I looked around and I actually bought a sterling silver/pearl jewelry set - earrings, ring and necklace. ($90) Probably didn't need it, but it's lifetime warranty. Ya, I got suckered... We were in Solvang for my son's birthday. The hotel was allowing guests to sign out pool/jacuzzi time. We realised half of us had no swimwear. We called Del sol Salvang and they were a bbn le to provide the needed items even though it was mid-winter. While there I also found a really nice bathrobe. The staff was so helpful and positive abiance made it so pleasant. I highly recomend this store read more

Sunglasses with a lifetime warranty. Too good to be true. Apparently this store is not a corporate store. All I encountered was questionable service and a poor attitude. I did get the sunglasses replaced, but with a lot of discussion, a fee of $12 processing fee to have the glasses mailed back to ??, and a bad memory. I would refrain from shopping here. read more

Great store. The guy working there was sarcastic and funny, but really nice. He showed us the different colors and entertained my little cousin with the shirts. After my cousin got the wrong color dolphin, he let her exchange it for the color she wanted. It was a good experience. read more

We can't come to Solvang without going into Del Sol. It's my nieces favorite. She loves coming here & we can't come without buying something for her. We stopped in today & left with some rings, keychains, necklace & a tote bag. The customer service was exceptional. I can't remember the gentlemen's name now but he was super helpful & personable. I can't say enough nice things about Del Sol/Carolina Bamboo. Fun for even for us big kids. I started off looking at the color changing items and then Sandi (the sweetest lady), showed off the bamboo items. The t-shirts are so soft. The sheets and the bamboo bed, I could have taken a nap there. Needless to say, I purchased gifts for the grandkids, the husband and for me too. I bought 3 pairs in Cozumel when I went on a cruise. We have been wanting to buy a pair for a long time. When we finally were ready, they told us about the lifetime warranty. As soon as I got home, one of my pairs broke and another one, the screw came out. I immediately contacted them for the new pair and they said it was going to be $12 for shipping and handling. I said that was fine and we ordered a new pair. That was on September 16. I called multiple times and they said they were on their way and they are still not here. How long does it take to send a pair of glasses with a lifetime guarantee? Do they just advertise that they have a lifetime guarantee, but then it takes months to get the new pair? They need to tell you that when buying, because I have been without glasses for awhile now and I need to wear them when I am outside. I shouldn't have to wait for a long time to get a replacement. They should be here within a week. It is ridiculous. I still can't find the right screw for my other pair and they are very loose. I don't want to pay $12 for that pair because the screw fell out. Don't get these glasses even with the lifetime guarantee, because it takes months (well I don't know how long, because I am still waiting). read more

The owner is very hospitable. We went into the store and walked around buying some products for the summer. The owner gave my niece some free hair pieces with her purchase and he gave my parents a free solvang bag as a souvenir since we bought a lot of products. Despite the store being busy, he made us feel like the number one customer and he let my niece and nephew have a field day putting stuff up to the sun to watch it change. Walked into this place by chance and the moment we walked in the door a extremely pleasant man met us right at the front door and instantly started interacting with my kids and showing us all their very cool color changing products! He let my son pick out two rings and put them on a necklace for free! We didn't even buy anything and still got stuff free! All their merchandise is very cool, shirts, nail polish, hair styff, necklaces, etc. Clothes in all sizes! Well I was there like 3 months ago with my family. Besides it being so hot we had a great time up here. We went into this store & we loved. Especially my kids! I bought a shirt which had to be ordered & well yes it took about 3 months almost but yes that was disappointing but the customer service was always nice. The gentleman which I forgot his name was kind to my kids which is a plus because kids like to touch everything so sorry about that lol. But through out my process & waiting for my shirt they were always nice & helpful. At the end Sandy kept in touch with me & made me feel like she cared. Yes I had to wait for a shirt quite long but at least they were helpful & didn't blow me off. I live like 2 hrs away so them keeping in touch & being honest about the whole situation made me feel better. read more

The owner, a heavyset woman with short hair, is nasty betond belief. No matter how cool the stuff is, it's not worth her abuse. She gives local places coupons for a free tote bag to give to their guests in order to get them to come into the store. Then she becomes incensed if you attempt to redeem the coupon. Well, if you don't want people to get the bag, don't give out the coupon, you ninny! She embarrassed me so badly when we went there that I threw out all of the Del Sol stuff we had from other stores. I love the products in this store. I wanted to correct the other review- this is not hyper color like the 80s ( I liked those too), but rather uses chemistry to make pigments change color in the Sun (Sol). The prices are a bit high, but the products very good quality. Their nail polishes are awesome. I've bought these items before: flipflops, shirt, jewelry, hair clips and nail polish - all were great. I've gotten the free tote as well and it is a very nice tote. Note: You can also save by buying online instead of the store, but it's nice to see stuff in person sometimes. read more
