Has one of the two ziplines open (one appears broken 8/8/26 even though park just reopened). Fun playground, but doesn't really have a robust place for littles to play (tiny whale structure with a slide), and because the pump track is so close to the playground, a lot of bikes were riding fast on the sidewalk between the playground & pump track - so it felt a bit stressful with a 18m old, but my older kids loved it! Note: pump track posted rules do NOT allow e bikes / gas powered motorcycle bikes. Bicycles, skateboards & scooters allowed. Pump track has painted arrows to show which way you are supposed to go through the course. Despite this, we witnessed an accident on the course between a young 4? Year old boy and older 12? Year old boy, who was not going in the direction of traffic/cutting over through non paved areas. Witnessed another boy using a gas powered mini motorcycle on the course, while 3 year olds are simultaneously scootering - watch your kids - this can be dangerous for younger children.

There is a playground for 2-5 year olds right next to a playground for 5-12 year olds. Across the grass from the playgrounds, there is a baseball field, with a basketball court next to it. On the other side from the playground are some very quiet tennis courts. Plus there are bathrooms, benches, and a fairly large picnic area up above. Also, there's walking paths around it and a canyon behind it. We took my dog today and did not see any No Dog signs, except understandably, on the baseball field and in the tennis courts. You should definitely keep them on a leash though because there are squirrels and other wildlife (deer, birds) in the park. Plus the park is surrounded by streets.

I love that they have so much nature areas that the kids can run and climb on besides the playground. They also have a basketball court, tennis court and basebAll! Downside: bathroom is not clean but I know I shouldn't expect much from a park. Best part: little library right next to the tennis court. It also has a lot of trails! We saw 2 deers too!!! The outfield grass is kept short and generally the ball will come to you at average speed. Obviously, if its misty then its tough to throw the ball from the outfiel but otherwise its great. The fences are very fair. It's usually open to anyone on Sundays (and most days during the week) so don't be afraid to come on down. Now, the major thing about Jack's is that its a ball field. There is lots of parking close by, and a lot of people park down the left field line to go to the gym. Don't do that. Foul balls happen and I have witnessed windshields getting cracked by them. The park has a sign posted that they are not responsible for any damage done to cars so your best bet is to park in the parking lot directly behind the field. For my last gripe, sometimes the scoreboard has some lights out and Monterey is slow to change them but otherwise this is the field I like to call 'home'.

They said that it was such a beautiful stroll and that the trails were nice and clear. So, we headed on in for a bit. It was so beautiful, lush and green. We walked for a bit more and then headed back. I can't say that there was anything real remarkable about the park but it was just a nice place for a walk, natural, beautiful, clean, lovely.

Though there is not much shade, there is a half wall around the play structures that provides seating for parents or other caregivers. There is also a wall to practice your tennis on, but no tennis courts. The people who we have met here have all been very nice and it is quickly becoming our favorite park, other than Dennis the Minnis. Our dog especially likes it but we wish there were more dogs there for her to play with. The only actual issue with the park is the sharp thistle weed that is growing everywhere. If the park managers don't do something to contain that situation, it will probably take over the whole field and dog park. There is a small parking lot and street parking around the park but most people seem to walk there from their neighborhood. The trails around the former golf course are very accessible (including the old paved golf cart paths) with a nice crossing over the Carmel River. This area is perfect for a short stroll. The park opens up after about a mile of walking into an active grazing pasture that features a nice variety of trails through oak groves, up and down some small knolls, and up into the foothills. This is a great moderate hiking option. For the more intrepid hikers, there's an intense uphill hike upwards along a dirt road (with a very well-placed bench in the middle) leads to outstanding views for much of the middle of the hike. The views at Inspiration Point are pretty good, if not 360-degrees (a trail to a nearby hill is gated off) and often feature hawks hanging out. There's a picnic table and a few more benches at the top--very thoughtful. The trail continues to an old pond where unfortunately a gate blocks access to the backcountry, which is said to have even more spectacular views and environments. Hopefully this part will get opened up ASAP. And hopefully the Monterey Parks District recognizes what a great setup they have here already and keeps it from becoming another eroded, illegal-trailed, droppings-filled mess like the trails at Toro Park.
