Having moved from the West Coast we needed a whole house full of furniture. We visited every antique mall, consignment store and furniture store within a 150 mile radius and nothing compared to Del Ray's. It is not only a consignment shop, but it's also a brand new furniture store. And they have quality furniture at a heavily discounted price. Their customer service is spot on. They delivered a king sized bed, 2 dressers, a dining room table and 3 leather chairs on time and were very careful of my newly refinished hardwood floors. They are very skilled at what they do. If you find something you want, you need to make a decision right away or another customer will grab the item. Scott has provided us unbelievable deals on new furniture and mattresses. He has even kept the store open late so we could come in right at closing to examine a vanity. We are grateful for their business and have shared about the prices on quality furniture with our friends and family. Went in on a location lark to see if things had changed. They haven't. Apparently, they do not read Yelp reviews. Still no greeting. Employees still yakking it up with each other. One employee turned around while drinking a soda to look at me, but did not offer help. Blaring religious tunes cannot alter the truth. I hope Joann is appeased now that I gave Del's an umpteenth chance. I want her to know that it was a fellow customer/employee crony that had had a gastric bypass that was outright rude to us, while the employees are rude- cancer or no cancer- in general. My dad has had three different kinds of cancer. (As of this entry, his latest cancer might have returned.) During those illnesses, he was not rude to me. (He has been since.) But getting back to that, does cancer give you a right to be a jerk? If you think so, then you should not be working directly with the customer base. Unfortunately, that is what pays your medical bills. Yes, I did give them another chance, although I would have to say with a more of an "I-made-up-my-own-religion" kinda heart. Besides, what does religion have to do with a used pair of ugly UGGs?! And, as far as them being "helpful", does Del-Ray's give jobs or job training to people with disabilities, such as Goodwill does? Do they give free clothing, essentials, or housing to people in poverty, like The Salvation Army does? The $40.00 that you spent at Del-Ray's might have been only $25.00 at those thrift shops that I mentioned. The savings would have helped you and the purchases would have helped the present and future community at large. Del-Ray's is out for itself. They need to get a different attitude, not I. Update on 5/30/17: Thanks for the er, ah, apology. My responses below, posted for general society: 1. Your employees are forever milling about the front counter and fraternizing. I neither hear nor see background chatter between employees and customers right there or on the phone. 2. Previously, I had stated that the rude woman that I had experienced was a fellow customer that had had a gastric bypass- not a Del's employee with cancer. I added this fact to add color to the review, not knowing that misguided drama would unfold. How one can mix up cancer with a bypass is beyond me, but since you think that I am criticizing an employee at your shop who had or has cancer, then: I do not think that having an illness makes you a saint. If Richard Ramirez or Susan Atkins had had a chance to reenter society with their cancer diagnosis, they would have just been themselves. It is very possible that a person with cancer does not have good customer service skills, either because they: a) they may have to work to pay bills and working makes you tired when you are also fighting cancer, or b) they may have never had good customer skills to begin with. 3. The Salvation Army thrift store plays Christian music. The employees there are always pleasant. A few weeks ago, an Army employee went out of her way to help us. The message of the music you play contrasts with the way you treat your customers. 4. "Yes, we are Christian...". So, you and all your employees are Christian? Do you only hire Christians, then? 5. No one is claiming that you and your employees are perfect- just not friendly or proactive. It is not a coincidence that others and I gave Del's negative reviews. Your business Facebook pages are no longer in existence, so I cannot see what people outside of Yelp had to say. 6. I know that you are a consignment shop- that is what I was trying to point out to Joann- that thrift stores charge less money than consignment shops in general. 7. Second Blessing said you guys drop off stuff "from time to time". I had toyed once with the idea of volunteering at Second Blessing, but seeing two certain people waiting outside there had me drop that dream. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and condition of the furniture that was available. So many new items along with gently used. There is a constant turnover of beautiful items. Plan on going there many times for various items. The customer service is wonderful! read more

Once in a great while this store has something good at a decent price, but not often and the atmosphere is off-putting and gets worse each time we visit. Where in the world businesses got the idea that blaring Christian music and constant reminders that they are Christian is a valid substitute for good service is beyond me, I've been there 15-20 times and never once been greeted or offered assistance. Once you find an item, expect to stand at the cluttered counter - sometimes even with junk piled between you and the counter, until they decide to either get off the phone ( chatting, not business) or turn away from chatting with each other, to give you their fake holier than thou smiles and take your money. The ONLY time I have gotten a remotely warm reception in this store is when I was spending over 100.00. That has happened twice and both times we left saying "Huh. Funny how pleasant they suddenly got. Tip for staff: it's obvious your business is failing. It's obvious you're bitter about it and have no interest in taking any responsibility (like read these reviews and make some changes in the three areas reviewers consistently mention). We don't want your religious lectures, even when set to music. We especially don't want them as a substitute for customer service. And prices? Last time I was there you had used Merrill shoes for 30.00. We ever buy anything at the arrival price. Why should we when there are places around town that are run by very pleasant and helpful VOLUNTEERS (and your paid help can't work???) , when the prices are reasonable and proceeds go to charity? I try to stop by Delray's at least once a week. They have a clean store with merchandise ranking from clothes to furniture to decor items. I have found several items for my home and have always been satisfied with the service. Lots of locals shop here. It's fun to stop by and see what's new each week. I believe they will pick up your larger consignment pieces. They did for a good friend of mine. read more

Great people, great products, great proces and great service. What else can you ask for?

I had an almost identical experience to a previous reviewer Kyla. I dropped off a large box of clothing, purses, shoes and toys - and also a large Fisher Price infant toy called Bright Beats PlaySpace (it's a standing interactive floor toy for infants who are just beginning to stand & pull up) all were in like new condition. I dropped off these items on Saturday November 12 with permission from the co-owner Scott Oates. I left the items in the left rear corner of the store (as directed) with my name and phone # affixed on all items/boxes. I was told it would be approx 3 weeks before the items could be gone through, which seemed ok at the time. I started checking back in Jan. 2017 to see what money I'd made. The response - I hadn't made but a few dollars. I was encouraged to "keep checking back" but I called once per week and my items were NEVER accounted for. I've left messages in person and via phone - all of which I have the date and time documented and who I spoke with. The owner denies ever receiving any messages. Only that I picked up $ in February, to the time of $5 and $10 approx. This does not begin to account for the large # of items I dropped off in November - and now the owner is saying I am just a dissatisfied customer who last dropped off items in October 2016. This is simply untrue. I'm not sure what kind of "racket" they are running here - but I of course have learned my lesson and will no longer bring items here to sell. Oh - and the owner is offering me $23 restitution or a $40 gift certificate to their store to settle this. That doesn't even scratch the surface. I asked if they would agree to $40 cash (not a certificate) and even though I felt this was more than reasonable - in their favor! - I was denied. Beware. **Update: as per the business' response below, I disagree on so many levels. 1) I did bring a large box of clothing, shoes and toys as well as a large Fisher Price infant playspace toy in November 2016. These items were never accounted for. The items I *was* paid for were dropped off in October 2016. 2) I accepted the cash settlement only because I had spent more time & energy calling, visiting the store to "check in" etc. than was worthwhile. But naturally, I still question what ever happened to my items that I left there in Nov. 2016. 3) When I picked up my settlement on 4/15/17, I was told I had no further items for sale on their floor. And yet, I observed at least 2 large items which were mine - but supposedly consigned under a different person. (Suspicious.) I am prepared to just get over this, but I was rather shocked to see the business' rebuttal. So I felt the need to respond. I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau as well. **update: it is what it is, I guess - clearly we will never reach the same opinion and I will have to agree to disagree with the owner. read more

Based on my one and only experience with this business I will not consign or shop here in the future. I dropped off 2 truck loads of furniture, home goods, and toys. The first sign of concern should have been the fact that they did not inventory the items. Rather I just left my name. Two weeks later I stopped in to check on my account and was told I had only consigned a mirror and doll house. I contested and was told to return next week for answers. The following week I returned to again be told by the gentleman they still had no resolution and return yet another week later. At my third visit the lady at the front said the owner had just left on a delivery but he said all of my items had to be donated and to just give me $40 and be done. They were unable to locate the totes my items were delivered in requiring me to leave my name and phone number. I suppose the $40 will replace the two extra large totes I'll likely never see again. The female ownder was very rude and I experienced her as rather condescending. Del-rays appears to be run in an unprofessional, borderline shady, manner earning it a spot in my top five list of most terrible businesses in Haywood county. read more

First off I must tell you I am in NO Way related to or even a personal friend of anyone in this store. I have taken several things to sell there from cloths to furniture and have had nothing but good service from them. The owner himself came out and even picked up the furniture we had to consign. We didn't have to get it there. You are paid promptly in cash or check. I have bought several items there, from shoes to clothes. They even have antiques! The pricing is really good, much better than I expected. As to the women who actually work there, she is not the owner, but fyi she has cancer. If you have anyone in your family who has had or currently has cancer then you would understand and pray for them rather than ridicule them. I have to tell you, went in recently to buy items that were unusual. When I asked for help not only did they stop what they were doing but when they did not locate the items for me they went in the back and looked through items that had just been dropped off and were not put out yet. I paid $8.00 for something that on line would have been $70.00. (camouflage pants I wear when out doing my wild animal photography.) I bought 4 items for approx $40.00 that could have well cost me hundreds new. Does that sound like someone that doesn't like to help customers? I think these other people who reviewed should go back & try again with a different attitude and more of a Christian heart. read more

I have never been in this store before. This is probably the last. I gave Them 2 stars only because we found some items. The lady working the store has zero personality and is no help and hovers like you are going to steal everything. In addition they have no idea how to price. They play Christian music however I found nothing "Christian" feeling about them. Very sad! read more

I love Delray's and have always had good service. Their prices are more than fair. I have consigned there also and everything was handled properly. I find the negative comments about this business shocking. Gossip on-line is very harmful and damaging. I think the bottom line is ....."if you do not have anything nice to say about someone then do not open your mouth!" Our opinion is all in perception.... The glass is half full or half empty. Everyone has faults and we need to try not to focus on the negative issues and try to be kind and gracious. Our expectations.... are different also.... and when they are not met.... then we will get offended. So being offended is due to our perception of things we encounter. Maybe if we try to have a soft heart and seek peace we can all be happy. The people at Delray's have a nice business and I am very grateful that they have opened and provide some fantastic savings on nice stuff! read more

Del-Ray's USA very shady business. They don't do what they say they are going to do. If you want to sell something for a certain price and they agree that number is what they will accept on your behalf, then they sell it for much less. It is ridiculous. When I first discovered Del-Ray's, I thought that it was pretty cool. It was really the only consignment shop in the area you didn't have to go driving 45 minutes to get there. The first time that I ever brought something there, it went pretty well, my clothes sold and I got my storage buckets back with it. I did bring some more stuff there but it didn't work as well the next time. First, they lost my storage buckets and they said they'd call me when they find it. Now forward to THREE months later, I decided to go back to the shop to see if I had any money on my account or if they could find my buckets, since the owners never decided to call me. When I got there, no one was really at the counter. After waiting for five minutes, the male owner came to the counter silently, not even greeting me with a "hello" or "welcome" I asked the man about the buckets, he told me that he threw them away to goodwill. I was shocked! I asked him why, and he said since he called me and I never showed up to pick them up, he just threw them away. That is outrageous that they would just throw them away without making an effort to call me after a couple days in case I didn't get the call, since I obviously did not. I personally think that really isn't the way to run a consignment shop. Especially since people might actually WANT their buckets back. I think those owners could care less about its customers and their belongings too. read more
