It's well organized with a a variety of dedicated staff and vendors. It's a true community experience. The location is spacious and accessible, and the food that I have bought from there is always really good. I have bought baked goods like cookies, breads, bagels, Indian food, and dog treats for my dogs. I've also bought fresh vegetables and handmade soaps. Today I was there on a rainy day, and the vendors were still there and ready for their customers. I was also impressed by the community support because people were still shopping in the rain, with and without umbrellas and raincoats.

This morning I got up bright and early at 630a to help set up tents, tables and chairs, signage for all the vendors to use; met the market mgr Candy (she's awesome) I talked to a lot of people (which I love) and i helped sell Morgan Elementary schools veggies from their garden. I bought some fresh kombucha from 3rd Coast and fresh homemade tamales from, momma's tamales in Houston. It started raining and lightning around 1045a; I needed to leave at 11am so it all worked out. Met one of the owners, Renee Hillman who opened this farm to the public in 2006; sweet lady. The Hillman family are well known in these parts from farms to everything fish/marine life. This farm is beautiful and no doubt, lots of work; I'm very appreciative to them. Today, I enjoyed picking blueberries, herbs and various mints I didn't know existed but am so excited to taste. I'll definitely be a regular from now on. Support farmers. But local.

We have been many times, and love it each time…read more This week (Spring Break) they had "Kidding around with baby goats:" 11 Nigerian Dwarf Goats that were 1-2 weeks old, bunnies, and chickens! They have a playground, and a pop up shop filled with assortments of tomato plants and herbs, homemade goat milk soap, freshies, cowboy candy & jam for sale! All of these products are handmade from ingredients found at the farm! We had the best tour guide for the hayride, Mr. Wilson. Mrs. Renee was in the pen with the goats, and letting a few lucky people bottle feed 2 babies. Melinda was helpful and nice in the pop up shop tent. Nothing was ready to be harvested yet, but we will be back in a few weeks for blueberries.

From it's rebranding of Gerland's…read more26 years ago to its recent buyout by the La Michoacana Meat Market last December, this grocery store has prevented the East End from becoming a food desert, especially for nearby residents who don't have easy vehicle access. Many of the items are more expensive but still comparable to the prices of Kroger, Randall's, and Walmart way out on the West End. The selection of groceries aren't wide but all the usual produce and necessities can be found here. Even though I still opt for Kroger whenever I have a large grocery list, a quick trip here for milk or pasta saves me an additional 20 minutes that I would otherwise have to spend driving. If I can cut down a significant amount of time AND support a locally owned store, then so be it if I'm spending an extra dollar on milk. I recently picked up some discounted protein pasta that was actually cheaper than what I normally pay at Kroger. However, the cucumbers that I also bought during that visit tasted somewhat funky. I personally believe that ratings have a relative component to them which is what grants Arlan's a 3rd star despite their okay prices and occasionally odd-tasting produce. It's a vital part of the East End's community and without it, many of Galveston's residents would be left underserved.

Selection is pretty good with decent produce, deli, meat, beer, and wine. Frozen section is adequate. Dairy is weak and expensive. Regardless, everything you might need is available here and butter and eggs are expensive everywhere. Anyway, it's a full service grocery store on the east end and it's pretty decent. You want fancier, it's sixty blocks west at Kroger.

Most shopping experiences here are negative. It's the…read morecashiers. Rude, controling wise-asses. The lady says "go ahead and slide your card" before I am even given a chance. My response, "the shopping cart is in the way," as it usually is, "how can I do that?" She completly ignores me. "You can slide your card any time after the first item is scanned." She is obviously in too much of a hurry, I don't like being herded like cattle even if a line is forming behind me. My last negative encounter before this, I scooted the cart over a little so I could indeed slide the card early. The cashier slams it back over immediately while glaring at me. She wasn't short and could easily reach over the side. Just another control freak. I wish they would make up their minds. It doesn't matter any longer though. Kroger exclusively from now on.

I saw things that I haven't seen at grocery stores in Florida. We purchased a few snacks along the way for our TNF game. The SugarBee apples were difficult to pass up. They were sweet & juicy. A great evening snack. We were also very pleased with the Lindt Dubai Chocolate. These were the real deal (Manufactured in Germany). I'd purchased some recently at a drug store that didn't taste the same as what we had in Switzerland. It was manufactured in New Hampshire, and had more of a hazelnut flavor. The ones at Kroger were truly pistachio. Loved it! You wouldn't think there's a difference, but there is. I was also blown away by the display of tamales. I'd be at this grocery store more often if I lived in Texas. Is it better than Publix? That's difficult to say. They both have their share of pros and cons. All I can say is that I'd be just as happy shopping at Kroger.

I'm one person...I don't have a smoothie every day, so it's kinda hard to finish 2 lbs of powder in 3 weeks. (product was produced in 2024) It's NOT ok for mgmt/owner not to reach out. Especially for a small business on an island. I will NOT ever buy from this location again. It's terribly disappointing being such a fan of this franchise when it first came to Houston back in the day. (Lived in Houston 27 years before moving here in 2013) DO BETTER. I will definitely speak my truth if someone on this island needs a smoothie, protein powder, healthy snacks etc There's several other options here locally that are available and of course, there's always old faithful ...Amazon.

Yes yes the neighborhood is rough but I have never had any trouble while picking up my order. People are people and I have had my car broken into at some nice establishments so please don't pass judgement. I love the freshness of the meat and have always loved having my meat freezer wrapped.
