I would not recommend this practice. I was discharged from the hospital after a 3-night stay,…read morediagnosed with severe UC. During checkout, there was no discussion on what to expect on the road ahead. nor was any followup (and by when) discussed.
The night after discharge, I had concerns and called the office 3-minutes after opening. I was connected with "clinical support" and left a detailed message. It turns those persons are working remotely. So, I called back about 1PM after hearing nothing. My first call got dropped; wasn't called back, and had to call in again. This time I was told to go the ER, which I did.
Going back in history, I started having digestive issues in May 2025. I made an appointment with the firm, and was told based on a 2024 colonoscopy, I had hemorrhoids and to start taking fiber, which was no help, so I got with my primary care physician, who did several tests, prescribed medication for IBS, and over the course of a few months got better. So, my initial concerns were "blown off" by Atlanta Gastro. My primary care physician ruled out celiac disease and Chrone's, but indicated UC could only be diagnosed with a colonoscopy. But his diet recommendations and prescribed medications to treat IBS worked over time, and had successful quarterly visits with my primary care physician.
Early this year, following a trip abroad, I began having worsening digestive issues and during the routine visit found I was borderline anemic. suspecting internal GI bleeding, myprimary care physician referred me back to Atlanta Gastrointestinal. I had an initial visit in early March, and was scheduled for full GI testing in mid-April, plus other routine tests.
I had calls get dropped 3 times in relation to the prescribed lab tests. In no instance was the dropped call returned; rather, I had to phone in and leave another message.
Before I could have the scheduled endoscopy / colonoscopy as an out-patient, my condition worsened, and was admitted to the hospital. I called in to Atlanta Gastro to inform them that I was headed to the ER and they followed my case, starting from ER tests. They had brief visits with me during the 2-days after procedure, but no follow-up from them in the discharge orders.
in fact, I still had to call the office to cancel my outpatient tests else I would have been charged for a no-show. You can make appointments via their web site, but can't cancel; you have to talk to a real person. I should not have had to call to cancel anyway as they were aware of my condition and supposedly following the case.
So, in my case, terrible customer (patient) service, multiple dropped calls, and no follow up checking on my condition. Communication with and within this office obvious is poor. I felt like being treated like a number vice a patient.
I am unhappy, and going forward taking my GI care elsewhere!
