I had a shake and chicken strips. The shake was great. The chicken strips were pretty good too. The fries... well, they sucked. They were a heavy greasy mess, with seemingly more oil than potato. But really the reason I feel compelled to write a review is that this was an individual meal. It must have weighed 3 pounds. It was WAAAAY too much food, and priced accordingly. I really wish there was a way to get less than 6 strips. I now see I could have gotten it without the fries. I should have noticed that before. Oh well. read more

Usually I do the search for restaurants to try but this time, Mr C actually did his own research! He recalled learning about a local restaurant known for its wings in Moose Jaw and really wanted to try it and when he mentioned @dejavucafemj to me, I really did have a dèja Vu moment it sounded familiar but I couldn't recall if I've been there Turns out I did but at that time, I didn't try the wings so it was less memorable We wanted to grab a small bite before we head over to the Moose Jaw Tunnels but bad timing cause it was SUPER busy! Thankfully, the staff was able to accommodate us quickly and fed us They have a WIIIIDE variety of flavours and although we wanted to try all, we went with a safe option: maple + bacon + ranch = never wrong choice right? When the food first arrived, I was a bit iffy since I was expecting it to be tossed in sauce but it was only covered on top. After a couple bites, I'm very glad that's how it came as! The sauce:wings ratio was perfect (for me). Sauce wasn't overbearing and since the bottom half was still dry, we were able to get the full crispness of the wings We're definitely coming back to try their other flavours! Another popular dish of theirs is the milkshakes I didn't get a picture but I can tell you - Mr C was a HUGE fan. After the first sip - he couldn't stop raving about how good it was! He got Saskatoon Berry Milkshake and wouldn't stop drinking it until the wings arrived ‍ I wasn't quite in the mood for milkshakes but his excitement for it did make me want to try some Instead if serving it in a fancy glass with decorations, it came in the classic stainless steel cup; this was nice as you actually get all of the milkshake they make rather than just a portion of it (many places pour it into a glass to serve but the glass doesn't hold as much as stainless steel). I'm glad we decided to do lunch here. We almost didn't come because my wife said it's just deep Fried Chicken .. When we ordered I had a Buffalo Chicken Wrap while my wife ordered the deep Fried Boneless Ribs. Go figure. Mine was delicious and just spicy enough to be good. The soup was chicken noodle naturally. It was fine but I expected awesome at a chicken place. I tasted several of my wife's boneless chicken ribs. They were great but that's a lot of fried food for lunch. They would make a better appetizer than main course. If you order it I suggest a side of coleslaw for a bit of nutrition. The price was about right at $10.00 a place. We didn't have room for dessert but they looked good. This place is clearly popular with the downtown lunch crowd because it was full at noon but nearly empty at 1:00 pm. There's a lot of great dishes to try out so if you are anywhere near Moose Jaw, give your jaws a treat and stop in at Deja Vu Café just off main street. read more

Their FLOATS are out of this WORLD! A MUST, MUST TRY! I had the Eggnog float, and I literally could not stop saying "mmm!" after every sip! They have about 40-50 different flavours of Floats on their board.. it's honestly hard to choose just one! Very old school, classic looking restaurant - it's truly one of those hidden gems. Friends of mine took me, and said they will drive up to Moosejaw for the afternoon just to visit Deja Vu Cafe (they're from Regina). The Chicken is incredibly fresh and portions are very generous. Our server raved about the huge selection of milkshake flavours and hundreds of sauces to put on all kinds of chicken. It was like " A CHICKEN OUTFIT!" This was our first visit to Moose Jaw so I clicked on yelp to help us find some unique places to eat. We chose Deja Vu Cafe because it was an easy 5 minute walk from our hotel (Temple Garden) and my husband's fav food is wings. We chose Saturday August 24, 2019 at roughly noon to visit Deja Vu. We were incredibly lucky as there was only one table of 4 available the rest were occupied. This restaurant is very long and narrow so only 3 square tables for 4 fit across the room with narrow paths running between them. This restaurant is much too congested for my liking. I do however like the deja vu theme which includes simple diner decor and pictures and paraphernalia of Marilyn Monroe and my dad's idol Elvis Presley. (Seriously though who doesn't love Elvis?) I've reached the part of my review regarding why my husband wanted so very badly to visit this restaurant....the wings. Not just your average 10 maybe 20 flavours of wings, we are talking like 100 wing options. And these are NOT wings that when the waitress sets the plate before you, you find yourself questioning if they are actual chicken. Deja Vu uses 100 percent chicken. That is one less worry for you. ;). Deja Vu's chicken is cooked until it's tender and juicy. You get to dunk that perfectly cooked melt in your mouth chicken into almost any sauce you could ever imagine. That is my husband's idea of a little piece of heaven. He ordered hot wings. I thought he would be a little more creative with over 100 options, but he does love his hot wings. My husband's sense of hot in terms of taste I feel is skewed. What your average person finds hot he can find no heat. What he does find hot no one else who values their taste buds should ingest in any amount. So needless to say, he found no heat in the hot wings from Deja Vu. However, he was pleased and impressed with the flavour of the homemade hot sauce that was on his wings. I on the other hand was much more excited about the 80 milkshake flavours. The milkshakes are thick and very tasty. They are served in the large metal containers that they are blended in with a larger diameter straw. With my milkshake I had sweet potato fries. Our friends both had wings and milkshakes as well. All four of us enjoyed our lunch at Deja Vu Cafe. I took off the one star due to how close the tables are to one another. If it were an option I'd have only taken off a 1/2. I went here, because it was featured on You Gotta Eat Here. I asked for ginger ale to drink, they did not have it. I asked for decaf, they did not have that either. I ended up with a chocolate milkshake that was rich and tasty. I wanted to try the pierogi poutine, but they were out of pierogis. Getting frustrated, I asked what they are famous for and the waitress suggested the 22 Special: 2 chicken wings, 2 chicken strips with fries and coleslaw. You can choose your sauce from 50+ varieties so I had the plum and the sweet and sour sauces. I had sweet potato fries too. It was all good, but disappointed I couldn't try the poutine. read more

Small, downtown restaurant with very focused menu specializing in chicken strips and wings, and milkshakes. Chicken meals are provided with your choice of a giant list of sauces. A similarly large list of flavours are available for the American-sized shakes. Friendly service, fun atmosphere, reasonable prices ($13-16 for most mains). Tasty, fresh-cut fries come with most meals. Outside of the potatoes and some cole slaw, Déja Vu doesn't offer much in the way of vegetables or fruit. We recommend sticking with the mainstays, and avoiding alternative menu items such as the highly processed ribs. The dishes seem small, but end up being hard to finish, so don't hesitate to share or to order the smaller options. Vegetarians (and I) might skip the chicken and try requesting those fresh cut fries with a couple interesting sauces for dipping. read more

Its like they use battered chicken to wipe down the counter tops. The fries were tasty but the wings were a big disappointment. Deep fried wings, dried out meat, room temp and slightly watery inside, with the dry seasonings I ordered shaken on top only. No flavor on the bottoms. It seems to be the kind of place that wows people with flavor options rather than quality. I wanted to try a famous milkshake but they are all made with syrup rather than real fruit or whatever with the exception of peanut butter and that didn't sound good to me. Tasty chicken tenders, caesar salads and fries. Tons of sauces to choose from. A great stop on any Trans-Canada Highway road trip. I usually get teriyaki-hot, sauce on the side. I find that dressing the tenders in sauce can be a bit overwhelming. The food can be a bit slow to come out. read more

Seriously, if you haven't tried this place where have you been?? This place was featured on the TV show called "You gotta eat here" and rightly so! We love getting the chicken breasts with sauces like Antisocial (garlic lovers dream!!!), sweet and sour, texas ranch, honey dill, and quite a few others! Plus the fries are homemade and awesome. We love to pick it up and take it home and eat, never had a bad meal. I know our daughter loves their marshmellow milkshakes and I have heard good things about their milkshakes but haven't had one myself. I know when they first opened up the portions of the chicken breasts were a lot larger, which I wish they still were, as this isn't a cheap meal. Over the years they downsized on the size of the breasts. We order the family size chicken strips (12 strips, $22), large fries ($13!!!!) and gravy($3.5) and it's $38.50. It's a nice alternative to KFC and pizza so nice for a treat. The vast array of sauces, homemade fries and retro feel of a diner just add to the appeal. read more
