RELUCTANTLY, I NEED TO WARN THE PUBLIC ABOUT THIS DOCTOR. Read his negative reviews and especially his history. He was disciplined by the medical board and put on 5 years probation a very heavy penalty. At his penalty hearing. He said that his prior mistake had made him a better doctor. I STRONGLY DISAGREE. I saw him for one month and he made very serious malpractice level mistakes in my care. He prescribed and pushed antibiotics for a virus.. That's why we have MRSA... because of the inappropriate over prescription of antibiotics. He recommended even pushed for me to increase a thyroid medication. When it turns out I didn't need it in the first place. He had refused to do the thyroid test that would have showed him. I didn't need it. He completely mismanaged my care for daily disabling long covid headaches. And don't get me started about his office manager. She is abrupt, arrogant and rude, less than competent, and like the incompetent doctor she works for. She thinks she knows better for the patient than the patient knows.

Unfortunately, the Board decided not to discipline him, but instead, said he would be sent an "educational letter" to encourage him to provide the highest level of professional care. I warned the Medical Board that if they did not discipline him, other patients would be harmed. They didn't listen. However, a few years later, Kingsbury was caught up in what was called the Medical Board's Death Certificate Project, an investigation of people who had died from prescription overdoses. According to Board documents, Kingsbury prescribed more than 400 vicodin pills to a patient in a six week period, which resulted in an overdose. I attended a Medical Board hearing in which Kingsbury tried to blame the patient for being manipulative. That argument apparently didn't work. In March of 2020, Kingsbury was given 35 months probation after being found responsible for the patient's death. Here is the Medical Board document detailing Kingsbury's probation, which will remain posted on the Board's website under his profile page: https://www2.mbc.ca.gov/BreezePDL/document.aspx?path=%5cDIDOCS%5c20200221%5cDMRAAAHL14%5c&did=AAAHL200221224800657.DID

Want to thank you for hopefully thinking about answering the 7 messages I have sent you since…read moreNovember 3 of last year. Though I haven't heard from you, I hope that you have my husband's medical problems in your mind and just trying to find the time to call. My husband is in Country Hills Acute Care Facility, and I am told you see him at least once a week. If this is so, it is hard for me to understand why I haven't been contacted by your office. I know that you are busy, but I am contacting medicare, medi cal and the state board because 2 and a half months is a long time to go without knowing a patients condition. Since my husband and all the other patients you see pay for the privilege of being supposedly ministered by you, I find it hard to fathom your conplete disregard for your patients welfare. I caution anyone that maybe thinking of using you as their primary doctor, for God sake, think again!

The physicians she was stuck with and their offices either didn't bother to return calls or would wait until her condition deteriorated, then say she should go to the hospital (which is kinda the opposite of the point of home care). I decided that if I was already going to be working with San Diego Docs for my mom's care, I might as well add myself and give it a try.... It's amazing the feeling you get when you call their number and one of them answers. Or when you text and a human sends you a real response! You actually feel like a real individual patient again. Both Drs. Fam are knowledgeable and personable, it's refreshing to not have physicians act as though you are just another appointment to slog through and check off boxes. I had been in the habit of waiting and putting off seeing my previous GP before because of how dismissive they all were, so I am still getting used to the idea that if there's an issue with my meds feeling less effective or if I need a refill, I can text, email, or call and not only get a quick response but also not feel like I am an inconvenience. After seven years in San Diego, I finally found the "medical unicorn" of caring, competent, and personable family physicians. It's now been five months and I really cannot recommend San Diego Docs enough.

Bye-bye Scripps and hello One Medical…read more My employer paid for One Medical as a perk many years ago when One Medical was a bit of a startup. I fell in love with the service then and I'm even more in love now. I had no idea that I could use One Medical as my primary and now that I know that, I am doing just that. In person appointments are easily available (usually the same day) and online visits are usually available within the hour. The offices are sleek and feel like a hotel lobby, not an infected hospital waiting room. There is spa water and I've never been in the lobby with more than two other people. There are no long waits and you can even do your labs on location, which I did. Once again, I love this service and hopefully this review isn't going to blow up my spot!

I've been a One Medical member since September 2016, and I want to be very clear: this experience…read morerepresents a sharp decline from what the service used to be. I recently scheduled an annual physical and was later hit with an unexpected bill because my insurance applies a rolling 365-day rule for preventive exams. That alone would have been frustrating but understandable. What made this unacceptable was how One Medical handled it afterward. I was given conflicting explanations about whether eligibility for annual physicals is verified. One leader told me One Medical does check eligibility for many plans and that mine was an edge case. Billing later told me they do not verify eligibility at all and that it is entirely the patient's responsibility. Those statements directly contradict each other. In a membership-based care model that explicitly markets coordination and prevention, this is a serious failure. The tone from billing was dismissive and rigid. Responsibility was shifted entirely onto me. Responses were slow. There was no ownership of the confusion they created, no acknowledgment that their own process failed, and no attempt to close the loop with anything resembling goodwill. The message was essentially "policy is policy," which completely undermines the point of paying a membership fee in the first place. What's most disappointing is that this was never my experience before. I had years of consistently good care with One Medical, including at their Phoenix office, where I never once encountered this level of rigidity, poor communication, or lack of accountability. This issue has been specific to the San Diego location. Since Amazon took over ownership, the service has become noticeably more restrictive and transactional. The quality of care and the member experience have steadily declined. What used to feel patient-centered now feels like a corporate operation hiding behind scripts and policies when something goes wrong. I paid the bill, but the trust is gone. For longtime members who joined One Medical for proactive care and transparency, this is not the experience you signed up for.
